Pokémon Black Version 2/White Version 2 |OT| Zero Shades of Grey

What time was it exactly? I tend to wait until after 8PM. If it was after 8PM I don't know. Maybe a glitch or something.

Well, it MIGHT have been around nine, come to think of it. And I haven't set the clock back yet. (Wait...)

Rejoice. It's not an unusable turd.
Sorry, Umbreon. I will always love you even if you are terrible

I was kind of thinking about using some other dark after all. Too bad Sableye is so hard to get in this one.

The NPCs who go to the Join Avenue are random right?
Yep, I just got my final florist and another nursery guy today.

Battle Subway seems more intense than the Tower in SS. Either that or my team is a lot worse lol. Only in the mid 20s of the Super line and I already had a close call that depended on a 50% Protect on my part. With this team, I might be lucky to reach the boss at this rate.

Still better than Flareon.

Not in-game. Flareon can still use his decent special attack with Flamethrower / Fire Blast / Lava Plume far better than anything Umby can do. Of course there are a dozen Fire types better than Flareon too, but he's more usable than Umbreon.

Wat. I've always thought Flareon was the red-headed (hurr hurr puns, not intended) step-child of the Eevee-lution line?

Man, so much hate for Umbreon. I love mine. I use him as support (Wish, Heal Bell, etc.).

Don't be offended when I say I don't think a Pokemon is good. I love Umbreon's design, but it's a terrible Pokemon for me in-game because I want fast Pokemon that can OHKO things to make my playthrough as quick as possible. And it's an even more terrible Pokemon competitively because Dark is not a fantastic mono-Defensive type and its movepool is terrible.

i cannot fucking beat Kanto leaders tournament. Or Johto for that matter. Unova and Sinnoh went down cuz Haxorus is beast. Haven't tried Hoenn. but Kanto/johto i've tried each like 5 times and lose in the 1st or 2nd round. whats a good PWT team? I'm thinking about getting a Gengar for my lead, then Haxorus and Arcanine. idk. i'm pretty bad at competitive battling lol

You really want a solid core you can switch around. For instance, Registeel is weak to Fire, Ground and Fighting. You could cover his weaknesses with something like Gyarados who resist Fire, Fighting (and intimidate helps a lot) and is immune to ground. Although Regi covers Gyarados' Rock weakness, you'll want to have the third Pokemon cover that nasty Electric weakness.

So pick a Pokemon you want to build around and go from there. I prefer bulky Pokemon that can risk switching in (ie; Gengar is really frail so you'd have to be careful), but fast strong Pokemon work too. Just work on synergy and cover your weaknesses. All the Pokemon you listed are good, but you might find you have trouble switching in against some attacks (ie; nothing resist Tyranitar's STAB moves on your team, gulp) with those guys on a team.

I just realized how angry inducing PWT Random is.

"Hahahah here, you get random mons" okay. Enemy suddenly gets mons who are against my typing.

WTF

What? I don't see anything too out of the ord- What the fucking fuck is that?!

The image I was responding to depicted an ungodly mix of Skyla and Swanna

cross post from community thread:
so i'm trying to make a PWT team since i'm infuriated by the tournaments. I"m thinking i need a solid defensive lead that can scout a bit, and then two sweepers. problem is i don't know who to use for sweepers. i'm thinking my lead could be a regirock with protect, earthquake, rock slide, and stealth rock maybe. then maybe a crobat? and then a water/ground such as poison touch or water absorb seismitoad. any suggestions?

edit: actually, fuck, seismitoad sucks (low BST), and i have a ground in regirock, so why not water absorb vaporeon. makes a good wall too.

You should make sure to have at least one priority move on the sweepers somewhere.. Crobat doesn't need one since he can take most priority moves like a boss but on the other hand he's not a sweeper.

You could just go classic with a Starmie or something as the go-to sweeper, and have the other Pokemon be a set-up sweeper (something with Dragon Dance) that can win the battle as long as there's someone he can set up on.

Also, in light of all the ridiculous Umbreon bashing on GAF (what the hell), I just wanna throw it out there that Umbreon would be a good guy for the lead you're looking for.

Umbreon is bashed because Umbreon doesn't murder things with bolts or beams or flames or other such variants, therefore he is boring.

Or so they say!

I seem to recall Karen's Umbreon being the most annoying thing on her team in HG/SS. Curse plus whatever that move is that works better if you move second?

Checking: Curse/Payback/Sucker Punch/Confuse Ray.

I'd probably swap Confuse Ray for Moonlight, since coverage moves are just things that eeveelutions don't get.

Umbreon is bashed because he is dead weight on the field. People can't wrap them minds around it, or figure because they beat their friends with it then it must be highly useful Pokemon. Unlike other 'non-murdering' Pokemon, Umbreon does not have anything in his move pool that makes him shine. Whimsicott has Prankster and a dozen useful moves, Chansey has instant recovery, Amoonguss has Spore and much better attack stats, etc. There are far better options for a wall, or tank alone based purely on movepool, but Dark is also a very poor mono-type to have for such a Pokemon. Combined with the fact that every generation, more and more Pokemon are introduced that can do Umbreon's job better than him, or obliterate Umberon, while he receives minimal movepool upgrades, makes him a very poor Pokemon.

Finally! Area 9 on Black Tower! I use a part of my in game team + 2 Pokemon from my White:

Hydreigon Lv. 82
Volcarona Lv. 74
Magnezone Lv. 79
Lucario Lv. 83
Flygon lv. 81
Zoroark Lv. 84

I got Hydreigon about 72 Lv. from White, where I had evolved it from a little Deino. <3 But I never had the chance to use it in game, until now. Volcarona is ev. trained with bad nature, and pretty much sucks. It's the one of White. The other 4 are from in game team. I had Samurott and Arcanine but now they rest on the PC. I think of adding a Chandelure to my team, in the place of Volcarona.

Also, the "gift" for beating all the floors on Black Tower is just awesome.

His typing is important because Pokemon don't exist in a vacuum of one-on-one fights. If dark supports the team better than other types, there aren't a lot of dark types that can do what Umbreon does. Also he does have semi-instant-recovery in Protect+Wish (and it's not wasting a move because you'll want Protect for leftovers and scouting anyway). He has a weird combination of early-game annoyer/scouter (Confuse Ray, Protect, Taunt) and late-game cleaning duty.

He's in the average section sure, but dead weight? Very poor? What :(

This is why I don't post in Community.

'His typing is important because Pokemon don't exist in a vacuum of one-on-one fights.' Even in singles he's dead weight, he's even worse in doubles. His typing leaves him open to the most common physical attacking type in Fighting and being weak to Bug is a nightmare to deal with if he's eating U-Turns left and right. Dark also has very poor resist in Dark, Ghost and immunity to the infrequently used Psychic type. Protect + Wish is not 'reliable' Recovery, and leaves him open to being setup on, or easily predicting against and takes up half his moveslots just to use. Good luck running Taunt with a Wish + Protect set, and enjoy becoming Taunt bait yourself.

If you're depending on Confuse Ray to win you battles, you're going to end up being very disappointing at the results in the long run. He is a poor Pokemon who is is loved because he looks awesome.

Is it likely that there will be a second distribution of Genesect along the line?

I'm only halfway through Black 1, but the collectionist in me wants to pick up Black 2 just to get Genesect before the promotion runs out.

If Dorothy the Diglett used Earthquake on Connie the Cacnea, what percentage of the base Earthquake damage would be dealt?

Answer:
(100+50)/2=75

Ahh I always thought it'd cut first then apply the 50% boost lol

Speaking of which, I find it odd that it took Pokemon World Tournament to actually mimic anime fights where you have audiences watching (Battle Tower excluded, but BT feels like a different thing than PWT).

Umbreon is my favourite eeveelution and third favourite Pokemon.

Umbreon is fucking terrible.

I actually looked him up on Veekun a few days ago to try and find a niche for him. His stats, movepool, ability, and arguably typing are all worse than Cresselia. The only thing I can think of is STAB Foul Play + Swagger or something.
