As someone who works on statistical models for a living, I'm rather sure that despite his public editorialization Nate is well aware that even the best model is still just a model.

Brave man. I've done enough stats in my life to know to run away from stuff like that very fast :p

This happened at my school recently:

On Wednesday morning, Clifford Durand, an 18-year-old student at St. John’s University in New York, presented a challenge to his Twitter followers: He would “smash” a fellow student’s laptop — which was adorned with a Donald Trump sticker — if his photo of her got 7,000 retweets. What followed was a social media battle in which the post went viral and the two students ended up in a physical altercation after class.

Friends of Durand claim the post was a joke, but when it gained steam, garnering more than 20,000 retweets, it caught the attention of the pictured student, Brianna Algazali, who confronted Durand in a hallway after class. She asked him to take the tweet down, and one student told the New York Daily News that Durand replied, “Make me.”

That’s when other students say things got physical. “She raised her voice and she threw her drink on him,” a friend of Durand told the New York Daily News. “He looked like he was in shock. I went toward him to hold him back.”

And now Trump supporters are blowing up the school's twitter account. With things like this:

And this petition: https://www.change.org/p/university-president-protect-the-women-of-st-john-s-university

among other things apparently.

Ya'll legit like statistics? Worst class I ever took. Why an English major had to take stats I'll never know. I also took Math for Liberal Arts. We learned about shapes and shit. And colors. It was basically Kindergarten math taught by a really hot grad student....

If there's one thing 4 years of maths and stats have thought me it's that hot grad students justify anything.

WTF how does position even exist.
This is like the HillaryIs44 people, they're insignificant in number and too fucking crazy to worry about.

Speaking of www.hillaryis44.org, I wonder what's going on on that site these days...

Loser #Hillary2016, Loser @BernieSanders At Dum #DemDebate
What the frickin’ fu*k??? Frickin’ Milwaukee??? Are you frickin’ fu*king kidding????

Our regular readers know that not for a second do we believe or ever have believed that frickin’ socialist Bernie Sanders will get the Obama Dimocrat Party nomination.

Our regular readers also know that we do not believe Hillary Clinton will get the nomination either – Barack Obama and the Obamaroid kooks will never allow Hillary to be the culmination of the Obama Reich and Barack does not want to be an asterisk in between the Clinton-Bush-Clinton-Bush ping-pong game.

OH....

Edit: wait, they're predicting Jeb! will win after Hillary?

Two more Newspaper Editorial Endorsements for Hillary

Tamp Bay Times
Sanders, the U.S. senator from Vermont and self-described socialist, virtually tied Clinton in Iowa and easily won in New Hampshire by exploiting voter frustration with income inequality and stalemate in Washington. His calls for revolutionary change are as tantalizing to liberal voters as they are unrealistic, particularly in today's polarized politics. His proposals for a single-payer health care system and free college tuition are expensive fantasies. His lack of a coherent foreign policy and tendency toward isolationist positions are particularly concerning. There is no indication Sanders is prepared to effectively protect the United States from terrorists or manage the complicated relationships this nation must nurture around the world.

Democrats should vote for her March 1. She’s a better choice than another long-shot liberal senator, her surging rival Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont.
A better choice not because he’s too liberal to win in November, though he is. She’s better because over her lifetime, Clinton has learned to temper her idealism without losing it. She’s learned to advance her agenda even when it means letting others advance too. She’s cultivated allies.

You must be madder than the average member of PoliGAF :p

Hah, well I work on much (what I'd consider) more interesting problems than normalizing polling data. I'm currently working on a model to determine user experience level and possible job affiliation based off their functional usage of a product in order to evaluate their likelihood of attrition and dynamically program help content to be sent to them.

I was actually chatting with a cute girl from St John's the other night.

I'm a little surprised this went down there and not a CUNY school though.

The unthinkable is happening. Jim Gilmore is dropping out of the race.

I thought for sure he'd still be running long after we are all dead in the ground.

Wait wait a minute. Apparently Clinton has an advantage with young minorities over Sanders? Why does that surprise me so much. Holy shit

That does sound pretty interesting. How are you building that model? (Just in general, as someone who's studied stats in some depth but has no practical experience applying it I'm curious) :)

There was this from BEFORE New Hampshire. Sanders seemed to still have been leading with the 18-24 year old Hispanics though.

We don't know how it's changed or will change in the next few weeks though.

I wonder if MSNBC might have new info now?

Another stat as to why that Nevada poll from earlier today was garbage: 55% of caucus goers polled said they were new to the process.

In 2008, the turnout of new caucus goers was only 20% of all caucus goers.

This is slightly reassuring 'cause I'm a little

how does that rule out it not being the case this year? past isnt always prologue.

That'd be a very unusually high amount of new caucus goers?

Plus 29% polled were independent or republican. You can change of course the day of the caucus, but it's a weird thing to not make note of at the top of the poll.

And then there's the fact that it's a poll from a site that has tried to dig up dirt on Clinton in the past.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage

Until Trump starts losing repeatedly, I'm still all in on my belief he is the guy. I don't see Rubio magically turning this around with those poll numbers in SC, and I think too many people hate Cruz to let that happen.

Ending at less than 100% would mean a brokered convention.

A brokered convention would be absolutely amazing to watch in today's day and age. Do they have the balls to go against Trump, who would then assuredly run third-party?

Wouldn't it be too late for an independent run by then?
