Ryan: The GOP is not Donald Trump's party

Ryan getting his Hot Takes in early.

Spoiler Alert:
It is Paulie boy

“It is no one person’s party. Donald Trump won the primary fair and square,” Ryan said during an interview on WTMJ in Milwaukee after conservative host Charlie Sykes asked if the GOP was now Trump’s party.

“As a party leader, as the highest elected official in the party, I have always felt a duty to the process, to democracy, to the primary voter who must be respected. And he won this fair and square,” Ryan added. “But no one person controls this party. This is a bottom-up, organic grassroots party based on conservative principles.”

EXCLUSIVE: FBI ‘Granted FISA Warrant’ Covering Trump Camp’s Ties To Russia

Two separate sources with links to the counter-intelligence community have confirmed to Heat Street that the FBI sought, and was granted, a FISA court warrant in October, giving counter-intelligence permission to examine the activities of ‘U.S. persons’ in Donald Trump’s campaign with ties to Russia.

Contrary to earlier reporting in the New York Times, which cited FBI sources as saying that the agency did not believe that the private server in Donald Trump’s Trump Tower which was connected to a Russian bank had any nefarious purpose, the FBI’s counter-intelligence arm, sources say, re-drew an earlier FISA court request around possible financial and banking offenses related to the server. The first request, which, sources say, named Trump, was denied back in June, but the second was drawn more narrowly and was granted in October after evidence was presented of a server, possibly related to the Trump campaign, and its alleged links to two banks; SVB Bank and Russia’s Alfa Bank. While the Times story speaks of metadata, sources suggest that a FISA warrant was granted to look at the full content of emails and other related documents that may concern US persons.

Heat Street is a conservative site...so...yeah.

Called it.

We are going to see a "David Duke 1991" effect, wherein having a blatant bigot in danger of winning causes a massive spike in minority turnout.

I won't be surprised to see overall turnout up by more than 5 points in election just like what happened in the federal election in Canada last year. People were literally mobilized to get rid of Harper so they voted like crazy for the Liberals.

Some actual leadership might come in handy at some point, though.

Nothing more disappointing to me then to see Obama wasted thanks to the Republicans.

Scumbags. I feel like he is the best of our generation but had a chance to be the best ever.

Laws don't govern party primary processes. But it's not like the GOP could have stopped him from running.

I mean, if the GOP didn't allow him into the primaries, he wouldn't be on the Repub primary debate stages, wouldn't have gotten coverage of the level he did end up getting.

The Dems kept Larry Lessig from attending debates and basically froze him out of the process. The GOP could have done the same with Trump. It would have pissed people off initially but saved them a ton of pain over the long term.

What were you expecting the GOP to do? Ban candidates who haven't held elected positions from running in the primary?

I can't imagine how depressing it'd be to have all this work gone to nothing and have NC go to Trump. I'd feel even more deflated than when Romney won.

Yep this is what I meant... and the point I was trying to make was that allowing Donald to run as a Republican was a complete failure of GOP's leadership.

How am I gonna sleep tonight? I feel like I'll miss stuff just going to bed for a bit.

Voting first thing in the morning. Can't wait.

Paul Ryan will have the pleasure of eating all the consequences of tomorrow. He was dumb enough to eventually sign on to this shitshow, and as the top elected Republican in the country he has to sort everything out. Lord knows Trump won't take responsibility for anything! In losing the Senate the Republicans there won't have to deal with any similar bullshit, though. They can rightfully say it's now out of their hands.

Goddess Navarro on CNN. I'm terrified of what she'll do to Clinton in 2020.

To be fair, Lessig ended his campaign after the first debate.

Did I miss any delicious salt today? Just getting a chance to catch up now.

Check out Bill Mitchell's twitter. Not salty yet but...just read his tweets.

They would have had to have seen him coming for this to work.

Do people completely under-appreciate the importance of the rest of the ballot (beyond even the Senate and House stuff)? Even if you're not in a swing the rest of that stuff matters and in many ways affects you and your community in a much more direct way than the big ones. It's also something that your individual vote would have a much larger impact on.

It's just kinda crazy how low turnout generally is. (And yes I'm aware it's higher in this specific instance).
