Being the president, Obama's words were powerful, but he basically voiced what a majority of the country is already thinking; Trump is unfit to serve and it's hypocritical for Republicans to simultaneously rebuke and support him.

Both. Post-convention is when the political media starts really pushing to break big stories, but Trump also started to act even more irrational, probably to get more attention.

People who expected this political season to go well for Trump have not been paying attention to what happens to presidential candidates in the media.
