As a lifelong conservative, I'm not too thrilled with McCain, but I certainly wasn't going to vote for Obama. But based on the polls, and the high excitement level for Obama, it certainly looks like I will be in the minority.

yeah, I feel the same as well...too bad it's not a very easy idea to sell these days.

There's been a unfortunate disconnect for the past 30 years between taxes and what taxes can actually be used for, which hasn't helped either. If we see good usage of tax dollars over the next few years, maybe a slight tax increase on everyone would be easier to sell.

I mean, we're at a point in our history where apparently raising the tax 4-5% on the wealthiest people gets you called a "socialist" for weeks on end. So, yeah, it's gonna be tough.

Why? I mean, I am considered right wing by left wings, left wing by right wings, conservative by progessionist and progressive by conservatives. I'll always vote for whoever I deem best in the current situation.

If you are less thrilled about McCain than about Obama, you know what to do. That, and hope the Republicans will field a better candidate come next election. Or at last, that's the way I go about things.
