I have no idea how anyone could think Obama is soft on terrorists. He's gunned after them harder than even Bush did. Obama has ordered tons of drone strikes violating Pakistani air space and even ordered that Marine hit on Osama Bin Laden beside the Pakistani Military Academy without telling Pakistan.

Bush stopped pursuing the terrorists the second he saw an opportunity to trick the world into going into Iraq, despite Iraq being completely unrelated to terrorists. Bush is the one who decided it wasn't worth the effort to pursue Osama Bin Laden or even finish off the Taliban.

The only reason Obama killed OBL and some other random terrorists is so that he could lull everyone into a false sense of security before handing the deed to the White House over to Al Qaeda.

was it like that in 08?

08 had the same law I think, new stuff for 2012:

If you show up without proper ID, you can vote provisionally, and you then have three days to come up with proper ID. And you don't have to show up in person to prove your identification. You can email, snail mail or fax the proof.

You don't need a photo ID. Acceptable forms of ID are: driver's license, school ID, employee badge, utility bills, paychecks with an address, bank statements or a special voter ID card. Pretty much anything with your face and name, or name and address.

A voter ID card will get mailed to every registered voter in the state. If you register, you get your card in the mail.

Oh man. I'm really starting to think he's fucking around with all of us. I've never been more beaten by Poe than by this guy.

It's so fucking crazy that it can't be real. But...it could be. I don't fucking know!

What if this is actually Nate Silver? Think about the genius behind that notion. Would be a masterstroke of epic proportions.

The only exception to that is Bill Clinton when he took the political advice of Dick Morris to moderate his policies and the economic advice from the great economist Arthur Laffer and cut the capital gains tax in half that lead to the economic growth of the 1990s that would not have otherwise happened.

Finkle...Einhorn. It makes sense.

Has anyone heard of Dean Chambers before this? Has he ever been seen in a room with Nate Silver?

Why do so many right-wingers take to "country being lead to destruction" shit so quickly? I mean, there are plenty of socialist countries where the standard of living is perfectly high.

Has anyone heard of Dean Chambers before this? Has he ever been seen in a room with Nate Silver?

Dean Chambers is Unskewed Polls guy - the guy who contends methodologies used by pollsters are wrong because they don't' compensate for Democratic voters by sampling extra Republican voters (which makes no fucking sense at all). From what I understand his actual "methodology" is just taking polls and "adjusting" them to Rasmussen (literally). He wrote an article about Silver last week saying you shouldn't trust what Silver says because Silver is thin, effeminate and gay.

Yes, I posted it earlier.

BTW, Bachman got utterly destroyed in her debate with Graves.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=_EYelAil_RM

Watched some of it. He was calm and cool and he just destroyed her thoroughly. All she did was use talking points and ignore questions. From what I've seen Graves kept mentioning how she wouldn't answer the question meanwhile actually answered them himself.

Bachman should lose her seat to this guy. Too bad it's not that likely.

holy motherfuckin' shit

add another to the OBAMA HAS NEVER BEEN DOWN IN THE OHIO AGGREGATE EVEN ONE MOTHERFUCKIN' DAY OF THE YEAR pile

only 6 days left, Romney! Quick, start dancing!

Don't let anyone kid themselves: this is why Romney is making a desperate play for PA and MN. He knows Ohio is completely out of reach. Probably realizes his goose is cooked in Nevada and Wisconsin as well, and getting angsty about VA and FL. He needs to put more states in play to retain any reasonable paths to 270.

Not that any path going through PA and MN is reasonable, of course. But a campaign that really believed it was winning would focus on securing the winning combination they alledgedly have in the bag.

It's not momentum, it's desperation.

Let me take this time to let you guys know how bad 2014 is going to be: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Senate_elections,_2014. Not only will Democrats have to defend 20 seats to the Republicans 13, many of those seats will be in conservative strongholds.

Alaska - Mark Begich
Arkansas - Mark Pryor
Colorado - Mark Udall
Louisiana - Mary Landrieu
Montana - Max Baucus
North Carolina - Kay Hagan
South Dakota - Tim Johnson
Virginia - Mark Warner
West Virginia - Jay Rockefeller

Republicans only have to protect Susan Collins in Maine. Also there is the fact that every modern President has lost seats in Congress during the midterms: http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/data/mid-term_elections.php. Whatever Obama is going to do; he better do it within the next two years.

co, la, nc, va, and wv will probably vote blue again. maybe ar too. the south is kinda weird like that.

if that's the way it breaks, at least biden can cast the tie-breaking vote from 2015-2017

Finished the Bachmann-Graves debate. Jim killed Michele for not answering questions plenty of times while offering his solution as well. Liked his closing statement/response to Michele's bogus ads. I think he will take this.

Perhaps, but it's hard to find a viable GOP candidate that isn't super-terrible, and yes Huntsman would've been terrible too.

If the republican candidate wasn't super-terrible, I have a feeling the tone of this thread would be a lot different right about now.

Given Romney's relative competitiveness despite being terrible, I do wonder whether he'd actually have the upper hand if he merely differed from now with a tax policy closer to Obama (though whether he could have survived the primaries with that I don't know).

What does the most recent polling say?

So did Obama.

If the republican candidate wasn't super-terrible, I have a feeling the tone of this thread would be a lot different right about now.

The Republican candidate would have been super-terrible regardless. No sensible Republican could have won the primary due to the craziness of the Tea Party. In short, Republicans have lost their minds.

I really don't think Romney has been too terrible of a candidate by historical standards. His staff and the way they have run the campaign, on the other hand, has been very poor, and we haven't even seen the results of the worst of their decisions (to completely outsource the ground game to the RNC instead of completely controlling it ala OFA).

I know, I was responding to the facetious notion that Chambers was Silver.

Few polling firms worth a damn are going to be polling Michigan at this stage.

I'll admit, I've never really paid too much attention to Rick Sanchez, but I never thought he was THIS bad:

Wasn't he the guy who got fired from CNN for saying there was a Jewish conspiracy controlling the media?

edit: LOL, of course this dumb asshole is on Fox News now. Of course.

Heh.

Michigan going red would be the most fucking absurd thing ever. Not gonna happen. Not even close.

Would be insane.

I still say it'll be closer than people expect this year and that it could easily go red in the near future. Young people have been leaving the state in droves over the past few years.

Mgoblue201

so you're saying it could be going red and we wouldn't even know?
It's already gone red, with the effects of the hurricane reaching Michigan. According to the official chicken little index, Romney will win the state by five points.

Really? I feel like he has flipflopped his positions more this cycle than he has his entire career. I can't remember any recent presidential candidate of a major party with such obvious position changes from the primary to general election:

"Let Detroit go bankrupt" to "President Obama saved the auto industry just like I said he should only he didn't do it as well as I would have".

"47 percent yada yada" to "I care about 100 percent of the American people".

Obamacare is killing our country and must be repealed to I'm proud to be the grandfather of Obamacare.

Privatize FEMA to Governor Romney would not get rid of FEMA.

etc,etc.

Not to mention his stiffness and awkwardness. He's been a terrible candidate and I can't understand why this election is as close as it is.
