Man I feel really dirty wandering around this website, their twitter profile picture:

I've made the decision that I'm going to stay quiet around my family members and just let them walk into Election Day thinking that Romney has this.

Every four years, since 1996, I either snail mail or hand-deliver a sealed envelope with my projected electoral map inside, not to be opened until the day after the election. This one's going to be fun. If the split looks like a real possibility next week, I might have to steal 270towin's motto ("this isn't a popularity contest") and put it on the map somewhere.

That picture is so great.

Why are they so dead set on this "Romney secretly winning Ohio" bent when there's no evidence at all to suggest it.

I don't care that Silver's being attacked by Fatso McUnskew because even assuming Romney wins the election, Unskew will be ridiculously wrong and discredited.

kind of like me, but in reverse

Canadian Jew?

They think all the polls showing Dem party ID +6-9 is skewing the polls. But if they notice that indies are winning big with Romney they would be aware that many former Repubs are now Indies but always vote Repub anyway so the party ID numbers aren't skewing shit, it's that the self-ID of voters has changed.

Up to 40 percent may vote early in election; Obama ahead
(Reuters) - Early voters could account for up to 40 percent of all voters in the 2012 presidential election, and polls of people who already have cast ballots show President Barack Obama with a comfortable lead over Republican challenger Mitt Romney.

Both candidates have been urging supporters not just to vote but to do it early as Republicans and Democrats campaign vigorously - particularly in key battleground states - to lock up as many votes as possible before Election Day on November 6.

Polls of people who say they already have voted show Obama with a lead in many of the states. The Obama campaign, which benefited from early voting in 2008, has focused heavily on urging supporters to vote early in this election as well.

Obama leads Romney 54 percent to 39 percent among voters who already have cast ballots, according to Reuters/Ipsos polling data compiled in recent weeks. The sample size of early voters is 960 people with a credibility interval of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

About 18 percent of registered voters already have cast ballots, the Reuters/Ipsos polling data showed. Around a quarter of minority voters - who tend to support Obama - and almost a fifth of white voters have cast ballots, the data showed.

Without Ohio, Romney doesn't have a viable campaign. CNN still has 2 more weeks.

I feel bad for asking this and wish it upon no one, but what happens with someone's early vote or absentee ballot if they pass away before the election?

I was wondering this, too, but I'm pretty sure it still counts, since they just had a story on the news the other day of a guy filling out his absentee ballot on his death bed.

Problem with Romney's early voting strategy is that it places far less emphasis on getting new/unlikely voters to the polls, it's moreso people who were already committed to vote.

If you find five dollars on the ground, you come out ahead - that was money you didn't have. Taking five dollars out of one pocket and putting it in another still only leaves you with five dollars.

If Sandy flips PA. . . .

Haha, no way. Even if Philly/Pittsburgh were both to get slammed, they'll have their power on and life back to normal in advance on November 6. Actually, rural areas would be harder hit by such a scenario, and it would likely repress Romney votes slightly more than the reverse.

Kind of curious who the Star Tribune will endorse.

Klobuchar's a given, she's one of the most popular politicians in the country. They endorsed Obama in 2008 and Kerry in 2004.

However they have a tendency of tooting their non-partisan horn by endorsing third party candidates (2010, Tom Horner for gov) and moderate Republicans (2008, Norm Coleman and Erik Paulsen).

If they don't endorse No on Marriage I'm going to be severely disappointed in them.

Edit: Well slap my biscuits, they already did. Good on them. They can endorse whoever for the other races.
