saw some of this in a local store. Seems to say 8x the range of 802.11g, and 6x the speed. It doesn't quantify this, although maybe actually delivering 125Mbp/s would qualify as 6x the actual output of normal g (maybe you get 20Mbp/s)

Can someone explain? I'm looking at upgrading my 'b' network and want to make sure I'm well covered.

One of the BEST things about this technology is that all devices can connect at their own speed. Your entire network doesn't have to degenerate into an 802.11b network just because your DS (or similar low speed device) connects to it.

Just bought the router and PCI card. Partly for the supposed real-world speed increase over 'g' (needs to be a reasonable replacement for a wire + handle streaming etc). But also for the interoperability with 'b'. I have a 'b' printer and a 'b' bridge which I can't easily replace. Plus with this solution I can leave the 'b' card in my laptop which doesn't need big bandwidth, and still run the PC-Xbox-Tivo network at a full 125Mbps (real world around 35-40).

I looked at comparisons and as soon as you introduce 'b' into the equation, most drop like a stone to 8-10Mb/s - completely no use to me.

Be sure to come back and give us your review. I been looking at these for a while and it's quite tempting.

sure. Assuming I can get back on the internet, and my wireless keyboard and mouse still work :)

Its gonna be piggy-backing on an existing ADSL modem/WAP/router, so it might not be pretty...

Any tools I can use to test throughput? I'd like to use one now while I'm still on a 'b' network.

yup... it's like the 108mpbs wireless (2x 56g) (from dlink, netgear and linksys) but with better range and double band for no speed loss. the 108mpbs products now work great... i'd go with those until the MIMO stuff drops in price (you can get a dlink-624 router/pccard for like $50 after rebate)... cause it will all have to be upgraded. 108mpbs works great now!
