I'm pretty sure that the Dark-Alex's experimental save states plugin (newest version) works on Gen CFW, but I haven't personally tested it. I think it's for PSP games only, though.
Hmm, I have found the PSPStates Experiment v2 Patch for 5.50GEN, I haven't check because don't have any PSP game to play yet. But it seem not working for PSX. Oh well :(

While I was looking that in search result and saw other same version but for PSP-3000 - do PSP-3000 hack yet?

The memory speed up hacks are in the process of being ported.
Hopefully they'll be in for 5.50 Gen-D2, but if not, they probably won't take too much longer.

Dark-Alex wrote his experimental save states to work for PSP games only, to my knowledge.

yay, figured it all out. got 5.50 GEN-D running now.
What do I need to rip my Persona UMD to the MS now?

Hit select to switch the USB mode to the UMD bay, pop Persona into the UMD bay, plug in a USB cable, engage USB mode, and finally drag/drop the resulting ISO image to your PC.

How do I run it? I ripped it, dragged it into the ISO folder on my MS and "The game cannot be started" popped up when I went to load it.

edit: Nevermind, had to switch UMD ISO mode to M33 Driver. Works great now, thanks!

so it's persona. Use the Sony no umd drivers. Mejilan says it fails using the m33 drivers
that did it. everything seems good now.

I found a workaround to play Peace Walker so I'm gonna get on that. :D

We wouldn't have any progress if people stopped bitching about minor issues & became completely satisfied with our lives :p I'd say, keep it up :lol

5.50 Gen-D2 coming.
Fixes some online gaming issues with certain games, and apparently changes the on-the-fly decryption splash page in some fashion.

Geez, if I keep following this thread closely, I'd have to flash my PSP every single day :D
Good job guys.

holy shit. that's the ony good new feature of the PSP GO

this makes that abomination look even more obsolete

Not only that, but assuming it works well, it works better than the Go implmentation since you aren't limited to one save.

The best feature of the Go is its form factor. To use the word abomination I'm assuming you haven't actually held one.

The pause game feature is cool but only as cool as the ability to use a DualShock, it's all about the form factor.

nah. i was using the word abomination to describe how useless it is, which is quite a bit now that older PSP's have an improved version of its best feature

"form factor" isn't really an issue for me. Normal PSP's aren't much bigger than a DS and fit in my pockets fine. plus they look a lot nicer and have a better button layout

Fair enough, each to his own I guess. I feel the opposite, after using my Go for a while, my 2000 feels large, clunky and plasticy with mushy buttons. I must have smaller pockets than you too because there's no way I'd get my 2k in one comfortably.

Personally, I don't find the save state very useful. Most games are designed with regular save points and the sleep mode is still the one I use the most. The one Go feature that is useful is DualShock compatability.

More on topic, the SenseMe app in the latest firmwares is very cool and I hope CFW users get it soon. I also hope they roll it out on the PS3.

:lol you're probably right. i wear massive baggy jeans

the save state thing sounds conveniant more than anything. it allows you to do ther stuff at any point in a game, which would be good on a train or something

also what's senseme?

Yeah, I guess my problem with Save State is I'm so used to playing PSP games, saving at appropriate times and using sleep mode that it's difficult to get out of old habits. I keep re-starting races in Forza 3 rather than rewind, same thing. I guess where Save State comes into it's own is when battery life is a sensitive issue, it uses much less power than sleep mode (none in fact!).

SenseMe is a funky little app that analyses your MP3s and attempts to group them into 'moods'. It seems to work really well. The problem is I have an Ipod Touch so I don't use the PSP for music. The app would be killer on the PS3 though, I hope it gets ported over.

Since I upgraded, I can't run GTA, HMH, PJM, but GT works perfectly (UMD version though).

Probably the same issue I had. Boot into Recovery Mode and disable the GAME plugin.

You can run a CFW from PSP-3000 5.03, but I don't know if there's anything that'll play the very latest games like GT and Motorstorm.

It didn't when I last saw it. Given the relative lack of talk about it(it's been out more then a year now), I kinda doubt it ever will (then again ISO loaders had compatibility issues until Sony put one into OFW too - maybe someone will hack save states out of 6.x FW and make it run on older PSPs too).

Alright, do we have PSP3000 support yet?
Well the latest decrypter got latest PSN games that require 5.5+ work on my 3k.
Conversion is a two step process and it needs 1k/2k that runs the game to do one step... so it'd be nice if we got rid of that yea.

They've mentioned about it. There will be fix for Gen-D2 coming up for Wifi gaming problem.

Hmm, I'll give that a shot. I have two 1000s (one I keep legit) and a 3000. I actually bought Thexder Neo and have been playing it on my legit 1000, but the screen is awful in comparison to the 3000 and I'd like to switch.

Quick question. I'm considering getting a PSP 3000. If I install the CFW to run homebrew stuff can I play newer games (UMD games) or will they brick the PSP since they usually have the latest official FW with them when you start the game?

a) You can't install CFW on a PSP 3k (or later 2k models). You can only run a temporary instance of it from the memory stick, but only if you're not currently running a firmware newer than 5.03 (or smth).

b) If you do that, no, you can't run newer games that require firmware 5.55 or newer, since the exploit is based around firmware 5.03 (if i'm not mistaken). You can, however, decrypt and hack some games and make them run on the older, hackeable firmware.

c) No, running a unsupported game won't "brick" your PSP3k. It just won't run. Because you don't have the required firmware revision to run it. It'll prompt you to update, which if you do, you'll lose any homebrew support you had with the ChickHEN hack.

That answered exactly what I was wondering (and more). Thanks a lot!

Yup - I can't stand using my 1k either anymore.
Use NPDecryptor first to convert PSN Eboot -> ISO (that can only be done on a PSP that can already run the game), and second step is running Yoshiro's tool on the ISO.

whoo! good news!! I updated to 5.50 Gen-D from 5.00 m33-6! most of my stuff works like a charm, including my freshly opened Persona umd!!!

bad news... Holy Invasion of Badman and Strikers 1945 Plus that I previously got off PSN do not work.

:(

does any1 kno a workaround??

on m33, I did a "version.txt" trick to get them working, but when I renenabled that option on gen-d the games still did not work... is it coz I hafta redo the version.txt method all over again?

or is the means to play these games and other psn purchases something entirely new on gen-d??

-EDIT-

ahhhh! nevermind, I got it working!!!

I disabled Game plugins and XMB plugins in the advanced config!! now my games work!!

btw, I left pops plugins enabled... are pops plugins the same as popsloader?? so should I keep pops plugin enabled if I play psx games on my system? or is the popsloader plugin something separate?

GEN-D? What happened to GEN-C?

It was up briefly but had a few bugs and GEN-D was spat out a couple of days later, I think GEN-D2 is coming out soon also :D, I don't think I've ever updated my FW so much in a short such a short space of time.

Question....does the Custom Firmware allow you to have save states on PSP games? If so, how do they work? Are they like in emulators, where you can have multiple save slots, pick one, and then quick save/quick load at anytime you want? Or is more like how it behaves on the PSPGo?

Ok, why should I upgrade to Gen-C Gen-D Gen-D2 over Gen-B2?

No need to rip and decrypt and repackage the latest UMD retail releases as GEN-D2 does this on the fly.

Edit:
Updated to GEN-D2 without any problems. These latest releases of GEN CFW are looking better and better.
5.00 M33-6 was the pinnacle of Dark Alex's CFW, but it took a long time & many many releases to get that far.
At the rate GEN team are going, they should be able to match 5.00 M33-6 greatness soon enough.

I'm hoping for GEN Network Update, MS speed patch, enable access to PSN again so we can browse, purchase through PSP & go online using PSN.

I'm running the latest release of M33/Dark Alexs firmware.

What's the easiest / safest way to upgrade to this new 5.5 GEN?
