PSP Custom Firmware Thread

Im going from m33-6 to 5.50 prometheus right now, wish me luck :x

(not directly, going to gen d3 via xgen first then to prom)

Sorry for DP! BUT.

Holy crap suddenly Peace Walker works, doing data install right now :0

That saves me a few dollars :lol

I'm on D-3 + Prometheus now, and all seems well, but I can't seem to start my PSN Castlevania SotN. It'll start, then immediately shut the entire PSP off before the Playstation (1) logo appears. :(

Final Fantasy VIII PSN works perfectly, incidentally.

Any ideas?

i haven't done any psp homebrew in almost a year it seems. my psp is still on 5.50 GEN B2 or so I believe. I need to upgrade it to play hot shots tennis get a grip tomorrow, but i'm not sure what i need to do.

!!!HELP ME!!!
I have the latest prometheus v4 as well as psnlover working fine. im trying to run the Hot Shots Tennis: Get a Grip demo, but it doesn't work! Is there a fix?

What was the official verdict on whether to install the small or large data files when using an ISO image of Peace Walker? Did it make a difference performance wise or add/subtract functionality?

Has anyone had any trouble getting PTC2 to work? I've copied the prx to seplugins and put ms0:/seplugins/PTC2.prx in game.txt, vsh.txt, and pops.txt, but it still won't work.

if i convert my battery into a pandora, can it still function like a normal battery? i want to upgrade to the latest OFW to play the hot shots tennis demo but still be able to go back to 5.50

Decrypt whatever new protections new games will start coming with in a month or so.
When the time comes.

I don't really expect the patterns of the last 9 or so months to change substantially.

How will the Playstation Plus stuff work on CFW. Thought you needed the new update for that.

No idea what Playstation Plus entails. I honestly haven't been following.
But people were saying we'd never be able to access PSN or play online multiplayer games (over PSN) again. They were wrong.

saw this elsewhere but apparently KloWn came out and advised people not upgrade to Prometheus

Ok so I know most of you have probably seen the new Prometheus CFW for fully hackable PSP's (1000's and slims with a mobo TA-088v2 and lower) was released... This CFW does not have my approval and I will give my 4 main reasons:

1. ModNation Racers: Issues with still remains without patching and using this CFW.. If you recall there were those who patched the game for that god awful dead m33 firmware and there were serious issues that arose with that patching ( fuck you Revenge Team you suck ).. Well this CFW is based off those prx files so yea it sux

2. Prince Of Persia The Forgotten Sands: Now this one's funny Yea it runs the game unpatched BUT half way through the game your PSP freezes and reboots.. after that you have freezing issues all over the place

3. KHBBS: Now don't get me wrong the game runs but the U.S release is just around the corner and my regular patching methods will make it run beautifully

4. Older Games Saves: Now this one is what really pissed me off.. I backed up my saves BUT after installing this CFW they were corrupted, so like on GEN-D3 I erased my save games and re put them back on my PSP and even though this worked for GEN-D3 this DID NOT work for this CFW.. so I redowngraded back to GEN-D3 and tried to put the saves back on and once again a no go... Seems there was a bit of detail they left out on this CFW.. It integrates a little prx file in Flash0 that is a bitch to remove and I really don't recommend ANYONE ( unless you REALLY know what you're doing ) play around with your Flash0 as you can make your PSP a permanent brick ( and NO Hellcats will not save you from this one ).

now I know the question will arrise " How did you get half way through Forgotten Sands when the CFW was just released 2 days ago ? " well what ya don't know is I have had this CFW for 2 weeks now Why didn't I say anything? Well the last time I said something about helping test a new CFW my PM box filled up 2 days straight asking if I was gonna release it on here and what was going on with it... I have what is called respect for the fellow devs and would never release something they have put hard work into before them

As for people on GEN-C I do recommend you use the Prometheus 5.03 that was released 1 day before the 5.50 one.. Reason being this will actually improve GEN-C compatability wise on homebrew and newer patched releases

So there you have it.. 5.50 Prometheus = Fail... 5.03 Prometheus = Good .. Please remember if you decide to upgrade to 5.50 Prometheus DO NOT pm me when you have a problem or you lose your save game as I warned you

personally I'm gonna take his advice

Is there anyway to install cfw on psp 3000 w 6.2 firmware or is there a way to downgrade the fw to 5.03? Thanks

No. I know I'm going to sound like a jerk saying this, but it's been asked multiple times in this very thread and the answer is always no.

I didn't think it was possible, but Thanks for the reply.

For the PSPgo owners don't update. You can still download games off PSN via mediago. (which got an update, which made it run a bit faster)

Got my pandora thru today, installed 5.50 Gen-D3.

Anything GAF wants to suggest me checking out in terms of the crazy programs I can install, please do so, I've had CFW in the past, but never really used it.

With the GEN D updates, will the option to "install OFW" allow my PSP to go back to Sony's OFW without any other steps taken?

Edit: Nvm, found my answer.

That's some of the stupidest and most petty shit I've read in a while.
And coming from the PSP CFW scene, that kind of says a lot.

The new PSP update removes the Patapon 2 exploit; don't update if you enjoy your homebrew on your PSP Go.

Speaking of homebrew on PSPGo, how does it work? You use the Patapon 2 demo then what?

Google or youtube the half byte easy installer. Then put your emulatos in the game folder.

I'm ecstatic, it works just like I need. Thu is the firmware with the feature list that convinced me to jump from dark alex's firmware, not the other stuff they put out.

I know this question gets asked a million times, but I like to be sure of things...

Is it safe to upgrade to Gen if I'm running a version of M33 firmware, but not the very latest? I'm not really afraid of bricking my PSP as I have two and I can make a pandora battery but still... would like to be pointed in the right direction of doing this shit. :lol

Went perfectly smoothly for me using xgen updater. went from 5.00m33-6 >> GEN 5.50 C >> prometheus

Any advice for the best SNES emulator/settings available these days on CFW? Everything I'm trying is resulting in crashes or a failure to be able to quit the application after a few minutes of play. Performance/framerate is somehow an issue in a number of games too. Donkey Kong Country is not pretty.

Guys I need help (I've read the OP and didn't see anything concerning my "problem").

I've let my PSP on the side for a moment and as the Summer is here I want to be able to play recent games again. The PSP firmware is actually 4.01 M33-2.

What should I do to be able to play a quite recent UMD game that I'd buy tomorrow ?

Thx.

edit : nevermind, I came back to OFW

Had to go to OFW if I wanted to use the Project Diva DLC for the PS3. x: Hopefully there will come a way for me to use homebrew again on my PSP3000.

An exploit has already been found (not released) for 6.30. (:
It's not kernal mode, mind you.

Aw, dang. I was actually sort of hoping I could play it this way.

Guys ive got a bit of a weird problem and ive searched around and cant find a solution.

Neverr mind. Disabled the 620prx and it worked

So I managed to get a Brand New Resistence PSP pack whihc includes a PSP3000 with 5.03 :D

I have a couple of Questions:
Can I still access PSN with CFW and Can I still access PSN+ content(Mini's Classics etc) with CFW
