PSP Custom Firmware Thread

Just to double check on the psp 3000

1. The 5.03 hen is a temporary thing and pep 3000s currently can not have custom firmware.
2. Is 5.03 the latest firmware (can not think of a better word to use) for the psp 3000 for homebrew

Yep, just checked, and they're enabled and everything, but error code 80010087 keeps popping up.

Weird, I dunno. Maybe you need to strip the DRM. :/

Too bad doesn't work with HBL@6.36 ofw, returns back to HBL menu. Probably needs an update by the author.

snes9xTYL works fine for me.
doesn't run as well as snes9xTYL for me. haven't messed with the settings on it yet though.

Dump them with another CFW PSP with a UMD drive and transfer to your Go.

Just change the USB Mode in the VSH Menu to UMD, connect your PSP to your PC with a USB cable, and copy over the image.

Ah, I finally feel vindicated - some people may remember the amount of bitching I did in the Go thread about framerate problems in PSN games such as Chains of Olympus, Ridge Racer and Liberty City Stories. Well I finally threw these games on my Go last night, in uncompressed ISO format, and lo and behold all issues have vanished. So, I reiterate - fuck you Sony and third parties for wasting my money on broken CSOs; thank you scene for making the things I bought actually usable.

I believe it doesn't care whether you use one slot or two.
But you can't just hot-swap microSDs either.
Any time you change your configuration, you'll have to perform a reformat.
So, for example, if you're using one 16GB SD card, and then switch up to two SD cards, you'll need to pop the two in and reformat them as one 32GB block.

And what would be the best way to format them? Because my nephews got a Photofast and some 16GB micros and it only lets them use 29 of the 32GB's that is supposed to be available.

Just so I'm sure about this I've got a friend that'll sell me his PSPGo for 100 and it's on 6.36. So I can still use HEN with this one, right. Does the Prometheus Loader/ SNES Emulators all work with 6.36 or should I try and find a 6.20 firmware enabled PSPGo?

Just want to make sure everything that can run on 6.20 Hen works on 6.36 HEN.

Anybody have any luck getting Rock Band Unplugged to work on this? I can't seem to get it to work, or figure out why.

Not compatible with current iso loader. Neither is VP: lenneth and Naruto shippuden 3.

Format them using the PSP, of course.
And yeah, it actually comes out to 29GB total.
That whole 1000 vs. 1024 issue when discussing memory/storage capacity.

not everything works on 6.36 yet that works on 6.20. a lot of the big stuff does though. from what i've read some SNES emulators and prometheus loader do.

So I've been skimming through a bit of this thread and done some google searching, but I'm still not quite clear on how all of this works. If I get a PSP-3000 now I'll have to get a pandora battery to be able to get cfw on it?

PSP3000s aren't pandora compatible. Only PSP1000 and most of the 2000s are.

You'll need HEN and a vulnerable firmware on that PSP3000 to do anything on it.

Mejilan can help with that one. IIRC, there's stuff out there for making .iso's, you'd just use that to rip/convert the eboot and it'd take the keys.bin (or whatever the DRM file is) out of the .cso Sony has.

download 6.20 to your pc, copy it to your psp and run it.

don't delete the patapon demo, get hen 6.20 b and put it on there and you'll be pretty much done.

then you boot patapon, load the save game, try to start playing and it resets to the xmb ready to go.

you can get a plugin called PSN lover that'll get you into the psn store on the PSP if you want to do that, but if you don't, you can buy stuff through media go on PC and copy it over.

hen 6.20 c is coming soon which should add online support to games (this currently doesn't work, which is a pain obviously).

you can just sleep your PSP to keep HEN active (or if you pause a game after HEN is loaded, resuming that game will also resume HEN). if it powers off (and you don't have a paused game to resume) to reload just load up patapon and load the hen save game again.

thx for the quick answer :)

every 6.20 comes with a patapon demo? Or is it a special 6.20 version?

no... i thought every PSP Go had it preinstalled. if it isn't preinstalled just download the demo. use media go if you can't find it anywhere else.

oh ok :) Do you have a link to a go 6.20 firmware? Google only gives me 6.20 for normal psp and it looks like there is a difference

Haven't been up to date for a while, so I hope you guys can point me out to what FW version I should update my PSP Slim 2000.

Right now I'm on 5.50 GEN-D.

What is the latest (best) CFW for my model right now and what are the steps to get there?
Thanks in advance guys :D !

Edit: Found it myself and it seems like I should better stay on 5.50 GEN-D3. Thank tho, guys :).

you can use a plugin (psnlover) to get to the store. currently you cannot play anything online using 6.20 HEN B, but HEN C is meant to restore that. i presume if you're on 6.35 HEN you can play online and get to the store no problem.

and yes, Media Go will let you buy and transfer software to a PSP with 6.20 HEN.

Ugh, I've been ignoring the scene in a while, so I'm a bit rusty on things. What is the best way to get purchased PSN content to run on a CFW PSP? I'm running 5.50 Prom-2 right now, and I bought Gravity Crash and Hot Shot Shorties, but I'm blanking on how to make them work.
Don't think there is any way to get them to work. Yet.
The old NPDecryptor method doesn't work with the new PSN DRM.
However, since the PSP private keys have leaked, we may see some new developments within the next few weeks/months.

Worst case scenario, some games do get patched on a one-by-one basis, but even then, only so games.

Download 5.50 Prometheus Patch 4, backup your saves to PC, install patch. Voilà.

Thanks for your reply, Mejilan. I wrote 5.50 Prome-2 originally, but thought that would confuse people maybe, so I changed the text to 5.50 GEN-D3^^. Anyway, I did update to Prome-4 just like you recommended, thank you :).

Been gone for a while too.
I currently have a 2000 running 5.00 M33-6. Is there any reason I can't upgrade to 5.50 GEN-D3? Any potential MB issues I should look into first?

Thanks all-

Is it possible for someone to make a list of the best emulators/homebrew to use with hen (6.2/6.36)? I'll post whatever I manage to find as well, maybe we can start a new thread specifically for hen?

I would love that as right now I'm looking for the best gba advance emulator.

And for those trying to get online with hen, press select in the psp menu and under the choices for region choose "debug 1". I haven't tried playing games online, but it connects to Psn for me.

Also, does anyones psp go squeak on the right side when putting the slightest pressure? It's a little annoying. I don't remember it from my other go. Should I get it exchanged?

Alright, I'll just post here whatever I find.

6.2 HEN TN

gpSP KAI 3.2 Tweaked for HBL
GBA Emulator
Emulates most GBA games at full speed, with a large variety of options and settings to play with.
DOWNLOAD

DaedalusX64 Alpha Rev 631
N64 Emulator
Still a WIP. However, compatibility rises with each new revision. Definitely worth a look.
DOWNLOAD

snes9xTYL
SNES Emulator
Runs many games at full, requires some fiddling around with settings to get some games to work ideally.
DOWNLOAD

PicoDrive
Genesis Emulator
Haven't had a single issue with this one yet. Runs nearly all games fullspeed.
DOWNLOAD

EmuMaster V3.GX
Gameboy/GBC/Master System/GameGear Emulator
Pretty much MasterBoy updated to work with the newer PSP hacks. Runs many games full speed, and has the convenience of having 4 emulators in one handy eboot. Has many settings to fiddle around with.
DOWNLOAD

If anyone has found more emulators or homebrew, or has found something better than what I have here, just let me know. I will update my post so we can have everything in one handy post.

do i copy the folder into the GAME folder of the PSP? And where to i put the game folder for the emulator?

I just want to double check something regarding PS1 games for the PSP-3000.

My friend got the Hannah Montana PSP while I have the MGS:pW bundle with firmware 6.20.
Is the only hack available currently the HEN hack?

Is it true that our own ripped PS1 ISOs would not run on the HEN hack (only PSN purchased ones work) on either of our systems?

Yeah, I read the last page about the Go, but just want to make sure it applies for the PSP-3000 as well. :/

EDIT: It seems my friend's firmware for the Hannah Montana one is 5.51, so does that mean he is fine but I am SOL? :lol

Just copy the entire folder into the GAME folder on your memory stick. Roms go into the rom folder folder inside the emulator folder. I hope that helps!

Both are - for 3k models and onwards you need 5.03 if you want to run CFW that already has PS1 loader enabled.
Though to be fair it probably won't matter for long - if we can really sign-eboots, people could eventually run custom-made PS1 eboots on OFW.

Thanks for the answer. I had to figure it was something to do with new DRM since I have gotten PSN content to work before. Hopefully this key business will open new avenues for me.

I love my GO so much now.

11 UMD games on there plus every NES/SNES/Genesis game that i care about, available anytime.. so good.

Just wish I hadn't lost my USB cable to charge the thing.. waiting on a new one from amazon to continue Ys 3 remake. Load times and performance are SO much better than running off UMD.

Ah, hopefully a perfect solution comes out soon then. :)
Another question: is there anyway currently to downgrade a PSP-3000 with 5.51 OFW to 5.03 or lower (I'm guessing not)?

so some games dont' work with CFW? Is that because they require a specific, later version?

Considering rebuying a PSPgo. Can I CFW it, then download (via media go) all the PSP games I prevously bought, and install them with no problem?
