PSP Custom Firmware Thread

There's no CFW for anything in 6.3x. Use that (if you're on 6.35) and you could start playing some homebrews and backups.

***

Tried the signed 6.36HEN on my 6.36 OFW PSP 3000 4g, no go (black screen then restart). Anyone on 6.36 OFW can confirm?

So i'm using a combination of the signed HBL r113 and the old 6.36 HEN instead of the HBL menu. (Heh!) Will check out if I could load isos with the PIL on this.

Doesn't this make it possible to go from 6.35 to custom firmware now?

Yes, though HEN firmware is only 'temporary' custom firmware (you lose it when you power off), and you won't get the same wealth of features as a permanent custom firmware. A lot of homebrew, plugins and the ISO loaders work though ie. the most important bits, and PS1 support is coming for 6.20 HEN soon (which you can just downgrade to). Plus you can just use the sleep function for 'off'.

Anyone have a link on how to downgrade from 6.31 to 6.20? Can't seem to find it anywhere.

http://lolhax.org/2011/01/24/6-35-and-6-31-downgrader/

From previous page! The 6.35 downgrader also does 6.31.

Literally just download it and put the Downgrader folder in your PSP > GAME folder. Then download the official 6.20 update and put that in your PSP > GAME > UPDATE folder. Then run the downgrader from XMB.

Make sure you have enough battery and the correct 6.20 update file (the Go uses a different one, for N1000 models only). Just Google "6.20 go firmware".

That's what I'm saying. Couldn't you go from 6.35/6.31 to 6.20, then use 6.20 HEN to go to custom firmware without pandora?

Honestly, the only feature I want is RemoteJoy right now. I don't think that's possible on the HENs yet, is it?

Sweet. Exactly what I wanted. You're awesome.

(Reason I want RemoteJoy is because, quite frakly, my PSP is broken almost buttonwise. If I hook up a Dualshock 3 and play it on my HD Monitor, then I suddenly have a renewed reason to buy PSP Games.)

EDIT: Is it just me or does this PSP of mine seem so much faster on 6.20?

EDIT2: Okay, so I made it to this step fine, but...

Connect your PSP to your PC (do not select USB Connection)
You will be prompted automatically to install the PSP Type B driver

.. I'm not actually prompted to install anything? o_O;

EDIT3: Nevermind, got it. Forgot the "1" at the end.

Got another question if anyone can help me.

If I have CFW and am running psnlover can I use media go for my psp?
If not any ideas which directory on the psp itself has the game files that i've downloaded off psn?

I want to have all my games/isos/roms in one spot to make life easier..

Okay, got the PSP coming up, but RemoteJoyLite refuses to work. Something about "cygusb0.dll" missing. :\

EDIT: Huh... just had to rename the DLL file that was there. Oh well. Got it working now. Time to play awesome.

I started playing Ghost of Sparta yesterday and the UMD wanted me to update from 6.20 to 6.31, without thinking I clicked YES. Halfway through I thought FUCK SHIT NOOOOO, but nothing happened.

I will upgrade to a newer CFW though, after I've finished GoW.

I just got a PSPGo, and it is currently on OFW 6.31. What would be the best option for me to get HEN on here? Could I downgrade to 6.20 to run the 6.20 HEN that everyone is saying is more stable? Or should I just get upgrade to 6.35, and download the 6.35 HEN?

Hi Guys,

didn't use my PSP for a long time and thougt, I wanted to try this CFW stuff now. I got a PSP 2000. What do I need to do? Is it relatively safe? Can you help me with some sort of guide?

I don't know which motherboard it is and with what FW it came...

I didn't think there was a working SNES emu for the Go at this point??

The one I have boots up, you get the legal notice, scroll down and accept, then it gives you the message "exit to XMB? X-yes Circle-No" or something and no matter what you press it either closes and reopens the error message or shuts down the system.

Is there a working SNES emu for gos using HEN? could someone point it out?

Might be a moot point to reply to this now...but I was having the same problem. I was on 6.31 and I was not able to use SNES9x Euphoria. Searched the net, found no info on why it was happening (besides one user that had a physical malfunction with his non-Go Home button). I figured it had nothing to do with my home button because it also said you wouldn't be able to exit out of VSH menus either, which mine had no trouble with. In the end, tried Snes9xTYL 0.4.2 and it worked fine. Slow as crap, but it worked.

Now you can just downgrade your go to 6.20 and Euphoria works great on my Go. That's the best solution.

Though now I can't play Ys Oath in Felghana which was the whole reason I upgraded my Go to 6.31 in the first place.

Hey guys I've been away from the PSP scene for a while now. I have a launch NA PSP. I currently have 3.30 OE-A firmware. What have I missed? and what do I need to do upgrade to the latest stable custom firmware?

Is it possible to downgrade from 6.35 to 6.31 ? I have a new PSP3004, and probably impossible to downgrade to 6.20.

By the way... now with HEN PRO 6.35, is there any interest at staying on 6.31 ? (if no, my previous question is useless)

Ok after some research it seems that 5.00 M33-6 or 5.50 GEN-D3 are considered the best CFWs. Which of the 2 is better?

Here are the things that I care about

Playing back up ISOs
Using the best emulators for (CPS2/3,neogeo,NES,SNES,Genesis,GBA)

Either one will work. I'm using 5.50 GEN just becuase it has newer PS1 emulation.

Can those 2 play the newest games yet or are they stuck without Peace Walker and the upcoming TO?

I stopped buying PSP games when demos stopped working on m33.

People playing ISOs on PSP Go must have a CFW PSP dedicated to that task, but are PSP 3000 owners able to rip ISOs to play on HEN at all, or do I need an earlier model?

Hey everyone, I have a PSP1000 with 3.40 OE-A. What is the latest CFW I can use and how would I go about upgrading to it from my version?

PSP CFW has come so far.

I can't believe you can now run an NES emu on legit firmware these days.

My real question is about getting a reliable SNES emu for PSP go.

I'm on 6.31PRO - does SNES 9x Euphoria only work on 6.20?

Cause I don't really want to downgrade and lose any game compatibility.

Tried both versions R2 and R4 and they both crash on trying to load any game.. anyone have one they use that just works?

So with all the ps3 CFW going on I completely forgot that the psp cfw had come much further as well. I'm currently running a psp-1006 with cfw 5.5 gen B. Is there a higher cfw that I should swap to from gen B or are the new cfw for the slims and pspgo's?

Oh and if there is in fact a better cfw that I should be on, would it be better to upgrade from gen B to the newer one or go to ofw then go to cfw?

I searched a lot and finally found a version that works on 6.35 PRO here.

It's not perfect, but it works. Some games I tried have speed problems. If that happens, set frameskip to 1 and it'll run okay. I hate to play with frameskip though...

Okay, I haven't been in this thread in a LONG time nor have I paid attention to the PSP Firmware scene in years. The last PSP I worried about hacking was my PSP-1000 and i think it was when people were trying to crack FW 2.X...

Well, my friend just gave me his God of War PSP 2001 and I don't know where to start.

Help me, GAF. I just want to be on the best CFW for playing EMU's (is there any other big advantage other than backups/iso's? My friend also dumped off a lot of UMD's on me). I'm on OFW 6.35.

Any way to get RemoteJoy working on OSX 10.5 ?
I downloaded the plugin for FW 6.35 and RemoteJoyX app, but I can't get it to work.

So i managed to use signed emus (the genesis one) and it works quiet well.

But i'm still with the 5.70 official firmware.
Should i stay with it or update to the last one ?

Currently the only thing that doesn't do is play PS1 games, but it will be added in the future.

No, I mean I dl´d a file, run it from mem stick and that´s it? No updating, no messing around with files, nothing? Niiice.

But, uhm, how do get my games from UMD to ISO and how do I run ISOs under this FW? And can I play GoW:GoS with it, it requires a higher FW.

Back in the day some games could be made to run on lower FW, but I can´t remember anything from back then, I did everything via tutorials.

I actually answered your question in a few posts up but I guess you missed it.

Euphoria doesn't work on Go's with firmware higher than 6.20 (and only R2 works on 6.20). You'll have to use the significantly slower releases of TYL for your SNES pleasure.

It sucks, but I eventually just caved and downgraded and can no longer play Ys Oath. Which I'm still trying to find an answer about how to play purchased games that require a higher firmware.

Most people would suggest to go 6.20 for the TN HENs. Check wololo.net.

I got a bit of a question here. I am trying to get CFW loaded onto a PSP 2001 running OFW 6.0. My brother in law was asked me to do this for him, but since I haven't kept up with the CFW scene on PSP, I really have no idea if it's possible or not. I've been reading guides online today about it, and it seems that I HAVE to know the motherboard of the PSP, but none of the methods I read about for finding it are of any real use. So is there any method by which I could check what kind of motherboard his PSP has without having to refer to the box(he doesn't have it anymore)? And can I install CFW on a 6.0 OFW PSP provided that he has the motherboards that allow it?

Yes, it is... Nice isn't it. :D It's just some Homebrews ain't signed yet or still plain don't work. Like SnesTYL. ;)

I am on 6.36 and I still use HBL to boot homebrews, mainly just emus.

PSPIdent requires kernel mode to run, so no go. Try running the signed HBL in the ofw, then look for the PSP module checker - should give you some info.

Again... TN HEN runs on 6.20, so you might want to ask him if he want's to go that route.

IIRC Snes is one of the homebrews that use kernel mode, so that's why. It's arguable whether any emulator 'needs' kernel mode, but for those that struggle performance wise it can be a nice boost to get access to the second Mips core.

Well all he really wants to do is play his games off of his memory stick instead of off the UMD drive. Can he back them up and play them with TN-A HEN?

I've been sitting around on various forms of 5.03 for ages now; first the plain ChickHEN, then GEN-C, and most recently Prometheus-3 (I think 4's out, no?). It's a 2003 with the T88v3 (if I remember right) motherboard, so full CFW isn't an option, unfortunately.

Am I better off staying on this, or should I consider shifting to the 6.20 firmwares? What do those offer over what I currently have?

Better to use a VM or Bootcamp and run the windows binary.

I've seen a RemoteJoyLite modded to work on 6.35HEN somewhere.

[edit] try this: http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=352162

Thanks. DCEmu seems to be down at the moment, so I'll check your link later.

But why are all people thinking that every Mac user wants to buy a Windows license ? It's expensive and I don't need it (I play on consoles/handhelds).

EDIT: Visited your link via Google Cache.
I'll have to pass on this feature then.
