man, I got FF7 fever the other day, so I ripped the disks into a single eboot .. damn the game looks good on the PSP! I highly recommend it to those who haven´t played it in years (or never!)

Won't work, I try holding the battery with my hand lightly pressing on it, but the PSP will turn green but then turn off. I'm not sure how much pressure I have to apply, but it probably has a safety measure so that it has to be covered.
Each time I've done my Slim I've done it without the cover on, there isn't a safety measure for it. Plug the AC adapter in and try it that way, that always works for me - I'm assuming it's the 78% charge thing.

How do you join eboots? I want to play Lunar 1&2 but don't have the patience to play it at home, I'd rather much play it on the go but Lunar 1 requires a disk swap.

If you use the MultiDisc Popstation GUI you can have it put all the discs into 1 eboot.

I already made eboots from the disks. Do I have to re-iso the cd's and make those into a single eboot?

Okay, looks like I managed to install the homebrew on the PSP.

So where can I get a site full of applications, and in what folder on the PSP do I put them in to make them work?

And more importantly, how do I get the Remote Joy app to work? I downloaded the zip but I don't know what to put and where to put it.

Okay, successfully installed up to 4.01, I can now run ISO's. Still need instructions on how to get the remote play installed and working.

And one other question: I'm using a 1gb pro duo card, but some ISO's are about 990 or so mb, and it won't fit on my card because 120mb are taken up by the files I had to copy into the card for the homebrew.

So my next question: Now that it's installed, what files can I remove on my card to free up space?

Get a bigger card? 1GB is not nearly enough if you plan on loading ISOs off of it.

What this guy said. 4GB cards are uber cheap these days (heck, someone posted earlier saying he saw a 16GB card for $120 at buy.com) so there's really no reason not to have one. 1GB just isn't big enough, especially given that some games do not compress very well.

Ordered a 4gb card from Ebay for $15.

Of course now I'm wondering if I can transfer the files from the 1gb to the 4gb, or if I'll have to start the whole thing over?

And again, what files can be removed and what has to be kept?

You could use a memorycard reader to transfer the files from the 1GB to your PC and then from your PC to the 4GB?

Cancel that order ASAP. Every and I mean every MS is a FAKE on eBay. Spent another €5 and get the real thing that will have proper read/write speeds & isn't maybe a 2GB card faked to read its a 4GB card.

The seller looked reputable enough, and I've used Ebay for years so keep your paranoia to yourself.
it's not really paranoia, the vast majority of memory sticks on ebay are knockoffs that don't perform as well as legitimate cards, don't support magicgate, are of generally poorer workmanship, and sometimes aren't even the right capacity.

if you really want to save money, and aren't worried about magicgate, you could get a produo -> microsd adapter and microsd cards for cheap.

Well it's too late to cancel anyways. If it doesn't work, they accept returns. Pretty sure I bought my 1gb from ebay as well, and there hasn't been any problems for the 2+ years I've been using it.

You don't need any of the files once cfw is installed. I used the 1GB card that came with my PSP to install cfw and then put it aside and started using my 8GB card without any of the files on it. The only reason I kept the files on my 1GB card was so I could quickly install cfw on other people's PSPs.

So you're saying it's installed on the system itself, not the memory card? So in other words, not only can I delete the files on the card, but I can swap another card (the 4gb one) and still keep the homebrew?

Well, obviously you gotta copy your homebrew games/programs across to the new card, but yeah.

Amazon has the same card for $112 now.

Gotcha.

I've been asking this like crazy but I still haven't gotten an answer: How do I install RemoteJoy, and what settings do I use to get it working?

This is a copy pasted from another RJ build I used to use, its very similar (i've made appropriate edits)

1. Put remotejoylite.prx in
your PSP's ms0:/seplugins/. Add it to game.txt as "ms0:/seplugins/remotejoylite.prx" without quotations.

2. Put your PSP into recovery mode (hold R during power on) and enable it via the Plugins option.

3. If you are on Windows Vista, reboot your computer, push F8 at some specific
point during bootup (not sure exactly when as I do not have Vista), and enable
installation of unsigned drivers.

4. Connect your USB cable and start a game. On Windows, if you haven't done it
already, there will be a driver installation prompt. Jump through the various
hoops and point it to the Type B windows USB drivers (included in one of the packages posted in the RJ thread)

^--- Do the above just once

v--- Do the below every time you want to play

5. Plugin the USB cable, and run RemoteJoyLite.exe

6. Run game.

.....I know how to create folders, I'm just wondering if I need any additional files to put in the folder. What do I do about the lack of a game.txt? Make a blank one or copy the one I linked to the plugin folder?

you

1. Put remotejoylite.prx in
your PSP's ms0:/seplugins/. Add it to game.txt as "ms0:/seplugins/remotejoylite.prx" without quotations.
if there's no seplugins folder in the root of the memoey sticl, you make one, then you put a game.txt inside it

if there is one, then you put a game.txt inside it

and what text is inside the game.txt?

"ms0:/seplugins/remotejoylite.prx" without quotations.

then you do the rest of the instructions pasted above.

Pretty sure I did something wrong here, but let me show you what I did so far.

1. First, I made a folder called "seplugins" in my root.

2. I then copied the txt file into it.

3. I then added /kd/seplugins/remotejoylite.prx to the game.txt file.

I then go to the Recovery Menu and select the Plugins-> tab, but nothing is listed.

So please tell me what I did wrong. Was I supposed to copy one of the RemoteJoy files into the PSP's memory card? Or did I make an incorrect configuration somewhere?

Oh and finally, I've been getting some stuttering/frame skipping during FMVs. Any way to fix that?

I did something to mess my PSP up. When I turn it on, it loads the screen slowly, the XMB lags and the screen flickers. It doesn't recognize my memory stick initially either. Taking out the battery and then putting it back in seems to fix the problem for a few seconds, but then it goes right back.

Any ideas what's wrong and what to do about it?

EDIT: Resetting seems to have the same effect as pulling the battery out.

EDIT: Fixed it. For some reason my configuration got messed up. I found a guide online on what to change.

Enter this line in game.txt: ms0:/seplugins/remotejoylite.prx

I can't be more clear than that, its already been stated many times on this page alone. It's even in your quote.

As for stuttering vid/fmvs, are you using a Lexar memory stick? Bootleg Sony? Most likely cause.

That didn't work either. As you see in the links, the root is named /kd/, not ms0. Regardless, neither one worked. It doesn't even show up in the plugins list. Anything else I might have overlooked?

ms0: means the memory stick drive letter. ms0 is the device name in the PSP (very Unix-like).

When adding lines in game.txt, vsh.txt or pops.txt you need to have the full path to them.

Like so:

ms0:/seplugins/remotejoylite.prx

Once the text files are in there like that then you can enable the plugin via the recovery menu.

from your screenshot, the text file should be called game, not pspbtcntf_game

you also need to place the remotejoylite.prx IN the seplugins folder.

Thanks for the kickass OP. I finally sat down and got CFW up and going on the PSP and it works great so far. Got some PSP games running off the mem stick and some select older games as well. Going to try ripping some of my PSOne collection this weekend and seeing how well I fare with that.

Is DA still active enought that he'll make the new firmware coming on Oct 15th into a new CFW? I hope he's not dead in the water, that'd really suck.

Judging by the website and the lack of any information, he/she may be inactive for the moment.

The Sony Ninja's finally got Dark Alex.

Those new motherboards are something that he'd still be trying to crack though. And of course he's giving 5.00 with PSP-3000 a shot as well.

I noticed there are 16Gb Memory Stick Pro Duos out now, and I'm pretty sure the PSP supports them (there seems to be Youtube videos and blog articles and stuff confirming it). I was just wondering though, does the PSP actually need the MagicGate that's on native Sandisk and Sony MSPD sticks? If not, then it would be possible to get say a microSDHC card and an adapter, since they are cheaper. Just wondering if it would work or if something would break like save games for example (since they are encrypted).

DA posted Why TA88v3 cannot be hacked "yet".

Summary: basically, all security of newest psp cpu's rely on the secrecy of the calculation of those 0x20 bytes. If pre-ipl were dumped somehow, the security would go down TOTALLY.

How to get that pre-ipl is the problem tho. there is no easy software solution and i dont know if he is willing to pay for a hardware solution.

I'm having a mem card problem. When I delete an ISO (PSP game) I have the same amount of free space before as after.

I found a very strange problem while investigating this. In my gpsp folder, the Japanese outlook file was 2GB! I deleted it and replaced it with the 22k sized version from my backup. This still did not solve my memory problem. All of my folders only take up 2.5 GB but I only have 151MB free on a 4GB card.

Any suggestions?

File system is corrupted, try running scandisk to repair it.

As noted above, there's a glut of fake memory-sticks being sold everywhere that don't support MagicGate, and they all work fine.
I've also been using 8GB SDHC for a couple of months now, and everything works on it, including PSN downloads.

The only thing to note is that adapters I've seen so far are limited to something like 7MB/s, which leaves the SD cards a bit underutilized. It's still plenty fast enough for PSP though.

So I'm trying to use the popstation to convert my RE3 iso, but everytime I try to execute the program to convert it into the EBOOT I get an error message that says, "This application has failed to start because cygwin1.dll was not found."

What am I doing wrong?

http://www.dlldll.com/

Download the file from that website, then put it in your windows DLL directory AND in the popstation/data folder.

Where would I find my dll directory on my PC? Inside System32?

Edit: I tried downloading both of the .dll files it said I was missing and now it says, "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142)."

Seriously, wtf?

Try downloading the whole cygwin dll suite from http://www.cygwin.com/ - it should add itself to the path environment variable, so you shouldn't need to do anything else.
