PSP Custom Firmware Thread

Ike said:
Where would I find my dll directory on my PC? Inside System32?

Edit: I tried downloading both of the .dll files it said I was missing and now it says, "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142)."

Seriously, wtf?

Did you put them in the popstation/data folder too? I remember I went through this eact problem, and IIRC it wasw putting in that folder that solved it.

That's the only place I put them. Where else do I need to put these two .dll files?

Also put them in Windows/System32.
Put both the cygwin1.dll and cygz.dll in both the data folder of the popstation and in my system32 folder and I'm still getting that error message.

Thanks for all the help.

I fixed the DLL problem, but I am now getting a new error: application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142).

Edit: Got it to work. The .dll files need to be in the "data" for RS-GUI.

I found Impaler's eboot creator and used that with no problems. It looks like it is locked up while creating the file, but when it finishes, the files seem to work fine, so I am going to keep using it.

Ike:

This is the post where I was addressing that problem. Putting the .dll files in the data folder solved the problem for me, so it must be something else for you.

I did have success using the impaler eboot creator, so you may want to try that if you can't figure this one out.

impaler's eboot creator won't work for me sadly, my RE3 file is .bin

alright going through the directions, i am having hard time telling if you can do this with just one battery and one duo pro, without fucking up either of them beyond repair. is that possible or what?

Battery might be hard. You should buy a tool battery if you're not sure. Modding the battery is a very involving act, and you run the risk of either killing it (only if you're a brute) or permanently turning it into a service mode battery (if you're not ever-so-cautious while unsoldering and bending that pin).

The Memstick shouldn't be in danger, only the data on it.

So yes, if you're careful and have some experience with soldering, opening batteries and SMD stuff you can do everything with one battery and one memstick.

Can someone help me please?

My firmware is now 3.90 M33-3

You should be able to just install the firmware as normal. It shouldn't brick your system. Download the eboot from the sony site and follow the instructions on there.

Seriously, this thread should not be bumped until 5.00 CFW. :|
it's a help thread, plus i'm pretty sure that if 5.00 m33 drops, you'll notice a huge amount of activity in the thread, and a mod will change the thread title.

plus, it's way too early for a CFW considering all the changes to the firmware.

I thought someone said that Dark_Alex hasn't been able to crack the post-4.01 firmwares yet because Sony's doing something new to make it a lot harder. We might not ever get 5.00m33.

no, DAX doesn't do every firmware, 4.05 didn't add anything that DAX deemed significant enough to do a m33 version of.

other people out there have released 4.05 custom firmware mods based on 4.01 m33.

I know. I just get my hopes up too much.

I"m behind my PSP is on 3.93-M2 (I think). Upgrading to latest firmware will that mess up my popstation/poploader? Right now I got it all setup so my PS1 games use the perfect versions of pops.

Dark-Alex.org is down. The "Network Update" function on PSP doesn't work either :(

Yeah it does. I JUST updated through the Network Update function. It's just getting hammered right now. :lol

Cool that this breaks popsloader, necessitating a new one. D_A says a new version is on the way, and it hasn't been updated in ages now so hopefully it'll add support for more pops versions.

What does this mean? Should I wait if I have PSOne games?

I haven't been following the poploader stuff much since like 2.xx. Can someone tell me or provide me with some links explaining the best way to rip my own ps1 games to play on the PSP right now? Thanks.

Edit: never mind, I should have checked the OP!

From the announcement thread on Dark-Alex.org:

Ok, anyways it was time to update it, long time I don't do, although it will take a time as I will have to support all missing firmwares from it. Oh well xD

So popsloader does NOT work with 5.00 but DA should be updating it soon.

Looks like I can't update this yet - I'm taking a long bus trip this evening and planning on playing FF9 the whole time. Still, I'm glad that it's up and working.

I hate that besides Dark-Alex the PSP homebrew scene has been pretty slow lately. No new SNES / GBA / MAME etcetc. emu builds in ages. Or is there something I'm missing?

alright, mine's up and running...this is really perfect. question about the store though, can I just use my email address on my foreign ps3 accounts to access stores from different regions?

On a semi-related note... does anybody know if eBay allows the sale of psps with custom firmwares on them? I got a 3000 and I want to sell my old one, but there were only 2 psps for sale on ebay with cfw on them so I'm assuming that eBay takes the auctions down. I have no clue how to sell my old one aside from installing the proper firmware on it, but I assume it's worth more with the cfw on it.

Anybody?

You should be fine. I've seen a few up on there before.

Ok, got a quick question:

Is it true that some 2000 model PSPs cannot be pandora-hacked? I just tried to hack a friend's new PSP with my pandora, and it wouldn't work. Refused to boot up at all and the green light was going, even though the pandora was already set to Slim-mode. It was 4.03 or something FW.
