I'm guessing there are no cheaper keys, I've looked all day and all I can find is some account selling shit on eneba and fuck that. I'm so excited for this and it seems like its a surefire hit, but I've never paid anywhere near £55 for a PC game except for Hitman 2016 and that was only because I mistunderstood the pricing structure and bought too many of the single level packs, but regardless I would've paid £80 for it anyway because I put something like a giant JRPGs worth of playtime into every level, over 1000 hours in total.

Maybe they will be lower prices on/around launch so I'll hold off, but I'd appreciate if some kind soul would PM me any steam key deals they find that are closer to £40.

Xbox One - 1:06.36
PS4 Pro - 1:09.16
PS4 1:09.86

This Generation:
Xbox Series X - 7.26
Xbox Series S - 7.46
PS5 - 19.10

PS5 is obviously unoptimised for its SSD hence the time, however the highlight for me is that I don’t know how anyone can use the old consoles HDDs at this point. They are utterly ridiculous!

I can't even use my external HDDs anymore, they are just there to store games as I move the ones I want to play onto the SSD.

Thanks for the OT, Cormack! I was gettin' worried there for a moment nobody cared. I'm going to proselytize the hell out this game at work tomorrow. I doubt most will care since they are the usual filthy casual Warzone/Apex/CoD crowd, but I know there are a few more enlightened individuals in the facility. Can't wait to get a chance to play it, got it installed, but my work schedule is pretty rough for releases. Wish I could do the NZ trick.

Seriously though, MS's studio acquisitions are going to start paying off bigtime in the next several years. I feel bad just playing this through gamepass, but that's what its there for. Tempted to gift a friend a copy.

As far as I’m aware there’s no native PS5 version right? It’s the PS4 one running in BC.

MS definitely saved this game from being a 7/10 that just needed another year in development to live up to its potential. Which is the kind of thing that has happened to more than few Double Fine releases over the years.
A lot of games could benefit from being in the cooker for another six months to a year. I wish the gaming community could get on board with delayed gratification.

It's usually not about the community it's about putting a ceiling on development costs.

But since MS has different business goals, trying to sell Game Pass and build their brand, they might see high review scores as equally bankable to actual sales numbers. So games like this are a good investment for them.

It's the same way HBO kept shows like The Wire around, even if the ratings weren't there, because they knew that it added to the perception that their service had good shows, and increased subscriptions, even among people that might not actually watch The Wire.

Still can’t understand why this isn’t on the PS5. You would think given the ‘drought’ of great games the console currently has it would comfortably sell more units than the cost to port it over.

It's 1440p60 on Playstation with ok loading times. It's perfectly playable.

JUST “OK” LOADING TIMES?!

back compat games on PS5 load pretty slow (slower than a PS4 Pro equipped with a good SSD for example) because the bandwidth is limited in back compat mode. why is not known, but most likely (this is speculation) because they found that some games might glitch out if you give them higher bandwidth than that of the PS4 Pro

XSX loads back compat games as fast as the SSD can load them. which is often also not the fastest because these games are not optimized for SSDs but often about 50 to 100% faster than on PS5

yeah, I have 4TB of HDD storage on my Xbox, but it is jarring playing games from these. if I play a game frequently I usually move it to the internal storage for the time I play it. it really is hard going back.

This is basically Schafers first AAA since Brutal Legend

Anyone here fans of Brutal Legend? The age range here recently seems like 10 - 16 so

Brutal Legend remains one of my favorite games of all time. I would kill for more Brutal Legend, but sadly Lemmy passed away.

Is 16 years the longest time between an original IP and it’s sequel? The only other one I can think of that comes close is Duke Nukem Forever at 15 years after Duke 3D.

Not sure if it fits your definition, but of the topp off my head I think the wait for Kid Icarus: Uprising might have been around 20 years.

I'm sure there might be other similiar situations as well.

Yup that’s what I’m talking about. 21 years between Of Myths and Monsters on the Gameboy in 1991 and Uprising in 2012. Hot damn 😮

Bought the first one cheap on STEAM and will try that out to see if the sequel is worth getting. I do wish we could get another BRUTAL LEGEND or maybe even a current gen remaster (not sure if that's even needed - did that ever come to PC). A sequel with more fleshed out gameplay and a larger world would be incredible.

Only ones I can think of are

Baldur's Gate 2 (2000) -> Baldur's Gate 3 (2022 release maybe) 22 years
Wasteland 1 (1988) -> Wasteland 2 (2014) 26 years
Battletoads arcade (1994) -> Battletoads (2020) 24 years
