Can I keep poking and prodding you to give Chomper a little love? His animations and snare times (in addition to that massive hitbox) are absolutely brutal in this game.

Well I played the Garden Ops, G&G, and Team Vanquish modes for a few hours last night and this morning. Really fun game, maps look really nice and are quite sandboxy, especially with the Solder Zombie's rocket jump. I usually suck at most shooter multiplayer games, but with this one I'm not completely letting my team down by playing. Favorite character so far is the Sunflower.

A few questions:
Do the other character skins change gameplay or are they just skins?
Do you unlock more abilities for each class to switch between or are the three default ones the only ones?

Do you know why my PSN preorder bonuses aren't working?

They all specialize in something different.

Berry shooter does more splash damage but has a slower fire rate, Citrus Cactus fires 3 round lower damage bursts instead of 1 shot etc.

Some do more damage but there's usually a trade off somewhere. I'd recommend to stick with classic modes until you unlock some variants and variant upgrades first.

Just got the game for PS4, and played it for about an hour. It's a really fun game! I've only played Gardens & Graveyards mode so far, but I'm having a ton of fun. Haven't played many classes yet, since I play the classes no one picks. So I've only played Engineer, Scientist, and Sunflower. I'm not surprised no one likes playing the healing role, no one ever likes playing them. Gonna play some more after dinner.

Also, just like everyone else. My GS pre-order code didn't work. I put it in, and it said "this code may be invalid, or already has been used."

Does the Xbox version also not have a party system for matchmaking, despite its multiple updates? If so that's quite disheartening... =/

Matchmaking without a party system seems like a complete oversight.

Ah finally some clarification on this! Yes, I'd expect an update to come in the future and resolve this then if that's the case. Hope it's soon though. I get a Conker vibe from its multiplayer. So damn charming and fun!

1. The focus of the game is multiplayer so get it while it's hot

2. You can ignore the microtransactions, they only offer cosmetics and the ability to unlock alternate characters slightly faster than by just playing the game normally, nothing in the game is locked behind a paywall. They're also pretty expensive, but in return all DLC has been free so I'm in full support of this model, wish more games did this.

As someone who usually dislikes microtransactions, they're basically non-existent in this. You get more than enough money after each game to buy back all the items you used up in the previous one. Only thing that costs a lot of money are character unlocks, which isn't that much of a deal.

Sure the game is online only, but you're not playing this on your own. Server will be shut down after the community dies, which might be a while if they keep on releasing free content.

It's been covered, but just in case.

All of the classes have different standard attacks. Some more varied than others.
Each class has another unlockable ability again some more varied than others.

Another important note. Each class has a set of passives that are also unlocked through sticker packs.

From my experience Sunflower has a hard time really contributing in G&G, but Scientist is VERY strong. It comes down to the Sunflower being a pure healer and Scientist being a healer/cc specialist. Chemist and Marine Biologist are two of the strongest classes available. I played a few rounds of kill confirmed and cleaned house with the Chemist.

Looks neat but worried about the community in this game. Not only is it not a huge game, many people probably even forgot about it. The there's destiny releasing in two weeks, it could become a ghost town

Picked up my copy from Gamestop today and played it for a bit so far.

Game looks great and reminds me of Team Fortress. Enjoying it even though I am getting my butt kicked so far. lol

Once downloaded, it shouldn't take any longer for the digital version to install. The only thing I can think of would be that it's not actually fully downloaded yet.

The only thing I could complain about is that I wish I could have a custom mode where I could play against bots (similar to instant action in battlefront 2). And that is only because I want to be able to get certain trophies that call to do certain things in a single session. lol. So nothing really serious to complain about for me. Just wish there was a create-a-match with your own parameters.


Dear Popcap/EA,

You've released an excellent game and the free DLC is an amazing addition. I am willing to pay for an update/DLC where I can create an offline match with bots. Would be amazing to be able to choose what enemies show up or to randomize it. Bonus if it allows co-op and versus mode.

P.S. - Hosting custom matches online would be cool too.

It isn't actually installing, it is still downloading. The Xbox One version did the same thing.

Sorry, I forgot to mention I installed from disc. Maybe this is a problem with digital. The store was wonky earlier. I couldn't redeem a code for the game on it and haven't even tried since the 4 times I did earlier. Maybe its related to that somehow? The game is relatively small so I'm surprised at the length of the install times people are having. Did it definitely download completely?
