What exactly was more impressive at the time? I'd like to know...Doom 3 showed its age when Doom 3 was release (and HL2 engine is no better)
Raven, dude. Keep up.DJ Sl4m said:ID needs to fire every last damn one of their artists, and keep the rest of the team.

At the very least, I was pleased that a PC developer actually realized that animation means something. It looks very impressive in motion.
Regardless of what you thought of the game, there really wasn't anything technically beyond Doom 3 available at the time of its release. The engine was doing more than anything else at the time while also performing very well. That's really important. I'm sure they could have pushed the technology envelope a bit more, but PC developers have to strike a balance between high-end technology and performance.Milhouse31 said:Animation was good but there is something "off" in the doom3 engine i don't know what it is + the shadow (after all the hype) weren't mind-boggling
But i know you liked Doom3 dark10x so I'm no gonna argue with you. I didn't really enjoy Doom3 after the initial part. So it's probably why i'm bitter.
Comments like that really paint the 360 in a poor light...PDZ looks better.

Have you taken a look at the E3 "Quake Wars" trailer (the direct feed 60 fps version)? That's some impressive usage of the technology...I haven't seen anything near that yet. If the engine has a fault, it's that it is simply built for corridor shooters, which admittedly gets very boring after a short period of time.

Well, you know how I feel about Far Cry...Milhouse31 said:Let's face it I hate the Doom3 engine. Far Cry was a better engine,a better game and was release before Doom3 with a lot less hype.

And i was speaking about Quake4 here. I can live with good techno-satanic-shit but quake 4 epitomize BAD techno-satanic-shit
