Quantum Break screenshots (Remedy, Xbox One) and info

Alan Wake was the kind of game I wanted to love a lot more than I did. Repetition was that game's curse.

I disagree. The game's not intended to play like a normal shooter. It's all about area control. If you're just running around, pointing at guys, burning light off, and shooting them, then you're not going to have a lot of fun. The game's meat is found in how you rule your space, keeping Taken at distance until you're ready to bring them up close for a kill. It's about highly-intelligent, strategic play.

Some things I noticed:

Supernatural hero? Seems to "fall down from sky, into the scene" maybe being a different person everytime even?

Time still going - fire, paper.

Time frozen, no fire/paper movement, player character can interact?

Uhm... action, maybe frozen time runs out over time. Player character dodging on the right.

Time being fast forwarded so that the ship crashes into the bridge.

Looks good ;) Car headlights!

Scene breaking up into shards for whatever reason (shards, butterfly effect etc.)

looks great to me :)

And this from the guy who was mocking Beyond and Heavy Rain so relentlessly a few weeks ago.
I thought you were a "gameplay only" kind of guy and that these "movie games" were a disgrace to gaming? This seems by all counts to be a "movie game" through and through.

Glad you changed your tune though. Welcome to the club.

It's a Remedy game, it will have plenty of gameplay.

Sorry, just don't think it is that impressive. TLoU is close already, and the stuff that is impressive is most assuredly not gameplay.

I have to agree nothing on the 360 looks as good as TLoU either so I will amend my statement. Looks like a Naughty Dog PS3 game - which is praise of a sort.

The ship sequence is CG right?

I'm pretty confident it is, though if you watch the full-res video, you can see some "cheap" shaders on some of the beams. So uhh....I'd like them to clarify?

I agree that it's darned good looking in the parts we know are supposed to be in-engine.

Top-right corner i-beam shadows have the judder I was referring to earlier. I still don't think it's safe to assume it's real-time until they say one way or the other.

The ship sequence is CG right?

Will admit, the rest looks pretty stunning. More so than they did during the stream last night.

Probably not, this developer they are big on using physics. There's a neogaffer named Oxygen (ex Monolith fame) who saw a demo of Allan Wake when it was PC exclusive, the physics in that demo blew his mind (something about a real time tornado wrecking stuff up). So ya, the ship sequence was probably real time

Everything about this title has my interest piqued.

Contrary to what some are saying, those graphics look out of this world too, they can't be real time.

I look forward to playing this on my PC two years after the XBOne release when it's been self-funded/published by Remedy.

Fanboys say the dumbest things, don't they? They can't see beyond their console/game of choice. And they never present a side by side comparison of what they're talking about, let alone believe their own bs.

I'm kind of glad Microsoft are keeping Remedy on board and publishing their stuff. Remedy have created some good games and tech.

Are we sure this is real time? The character seems to be completely smooth, more like CG than in a game...

It doesn't particularly good for a CG, though...

Which animation, exactly? The one where the character lands, or the one where they run forward? If you've played many modern PC titles, you'd see how believable these are. There are even a good number of current-gen console games which, if you centered in on particular animations, have moments on par with these.

I think he's talking about the model itself being perfectly smooth, like absolutely no polygons are visible.

Same here. Cant wait to see more of it at E3 hopefully.

Sorry, it just doesn't look that impressive. Neither did the new CoD, but BF4 looks pretty good. Maybe it looks better in higher resolution, but low res video just doesn't really look that different.

If that's true, then he's obviously doing a baseless double-talk criticism: "It both looks too good and too bad at the same time." Also, how inane a comment is that when so many games this gen already have model detail fairly close to what we see here?

It looks like a GC.. Xbone does not have ps4 power. I might be wrong tought..

Looks like CG, this means the console is weak. okydoky.
Fucking graphics discussions. One I think it looks pretty good, lighting is very nice. Two I think the far more interesting thing about it is the premise.

Was it confirmed to be in-engine? Because MS showed off with the Forza video saying it wasn't CGI, EDIT: so I find it strange that such a good looking video wasn't confirmed to have in-engine footage.

Looks alright. I guess it's more slo-mo shooting (plus some time-shift gimmick), which is fine but hardly impressive.

Of all the games shown at both the PS4 and XBOXONE conferences, this one undoubtedly separates itself from the pack with its unrivaled graphical fidelity and original design. MS has a real winner here, I think.

Yeah it looks pretty goooooooood... but this might not be a real gameplay footage.. After that fifa, Madden disaster.. I dont trust..
