King Kong is better than Nolan's last two movies

Come at me bros

JAPAN LTD Gross
The Dark Knight $14,574,849
Batman Begins $12,375,128
Mods should give Busty a similar tag to StevieP's.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeppppp.

I stand corrected. But I know that the TDK's opening in Japan was apparently catastrophic.

I'm not familiar with Japan numbers so I had no idea that it had managed to claw it back.

Combined they will gross something crazy. Like Avatar's B.O.

Oh you.

Is it possible to have a movie thread on GAF that doesn't eventually turn into an argument between Scullibundo and Solo? THE WORLD MAY NEVER KNOW.

On that day...., GAF's servers are switched off and the Internet loses a bright shining star.

It wasn't a claw back. They both sucked. By comparison & iirc Inception made about 40 million & ROTK made something like 90 million

There's not going to be a contest in Japan. They do not like Nolan Batman.

I'm going with Dark Knight Rises. Hobbit is just part 1 of a two part story. If you look at how Deathly Hallows Pts 1 and 2 worked out, the 2nd part did a lot better, making almost $100 million more. I bet it will work out similarly for Twilight Breaking Dawn Pts 1 and 2.

Whereas if you look at Rises, it is the third film in a trilogy and marketed as the last entry into the series... so even without Heath Ledger returning it is poised to do really really well.

Batman will easily win in the US.

Hobbit will easily win outside the US.

Overall I would have to say the Hobbit. Freakin Pirates 4 made 800m outside the US, we (the international audience) love fantasy films. Wouldn't surprise me to see Hobbit top Pirates.

Why do people think TTT is so bad exactly ??

I don't think it's bad, I just think it is easily the weakest part of the trilogy. I still enjoy it. You'll find that when a film doesn't live up to its predecessor that lots of people will blow that disappointment out of proportion. TTT is a good film.

I just read the book and I wasn't happy what they did with Faramir but PJ fucking nailed Gollum and the battle at Helms Deep was awesome. TTT EE is also amazing. I really don't see the big drop in quality. I agree that there was something magical about FOTR but to say that TTT was enough to make some people not give a fuck about ROTK? Really? Sounds like hyperbole to me

From a Tolkien fan's point of view, they changed who instigated the retreat to Helms Deep, Legolas doing silly action sequences, Elves at Helms Deep etc. It was always going to be the hardest film to make anyway.

What do u mean who instigated the retreat to Helms Deep? And adding Elves made good dramatic sense in context even if it wasnt faithful to the book

In the novel, Gandalf persuades Theoden to take refuge in Helms Deep. In the films, they make Theoden out to be 'retreating' and Gandalf is visibly annoyed by it.

I'd have liked the movie more if the Elves kept away from Helms Deep. Still, it could have been worse. They originally planned for Arwen to arrive in warrior garb and fight alongside Aragorn.

Oh wow thank god they didn't do that

TTT was awesome for Gollum alone. The battle at Helm's Deep is one of the best ever filmed imo (Until ROTK came along). It helped that I didn't reread (After a very long time) TTT until after the movies.

Fellowship is my favorite.

Gollum is the one sole redeeming quality of TTT. I honestly didn't much enjoy anything else, including the big battle. I remember leaving the theater gravely disappointed and in disbelief that I didn't like the movie.

Remember when going to the movies was about having fun and just enkoy the movie and not some stupid boxoffice crap.

Are you complaining about box office talk in a box office thread? Go to a Halo thread and complain about people talking about Halo, see how well that works out for you.

Theoden is a great character. Fucking Gandalf the White is the shit. Helms Deep an awesome battle. The fucking ending, Howard Shore's Rohan theme. Da fuck ?

What? No.

it will be like this

Hobbit = IceAge4 > DKR=ASM>>Avengers

and i agree with whoever said that hobbit trailer was bad!
well same can be said for DKR and ASM

The Hobbit will be the biggest without a doubt.
It's built on a legendary movie trilogy that broke much ground and won silly amounts of awards and is loved by all. People will camp out for tickets, the commercials with Gandalf and Smeagol will bring everyone into overdrive and it will be a proper event.

Where do you live again, jett? Don't you get Prometheus like a week early?

I know Aus gets it 2 days before the US (1 if you don't account time difference.)

Are we talking about TDKR vs Hobbit or TDK vs Kingdom of the Crystal Skull? :trollface

I keep forgetting about Ice Age 4 and I'm sure it will be huge, but I'm pretty certain TDKR will outgross it handily thanks to a much much bigger domestic gross.
