Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare Coming to Switch and PS4 (Digital August 17th, Physical October 13th)

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Xbox BC version has god awful input latency issues due to some processing effects MS forces on BC games.

DF called it perfect emulation of the 360 version, no idea what latency you're talking about. I've played both RDR and Undead Nightmare on SX myself, they look and play great without a single drop from the 360 and with 16x AF.

That would've been a sure fire way to ruin RDR1.

An enhanced port is really the best case scenario for preserving the original game.

This news legit made me chuckle. Full price for a port that isn’t even current-gen? How does this even get underway. Like, who is the mastermind that tricked some executives to green-light porting a PS3 game to PS4 in 2023. Is this sort of grift common in the industry?

Oh nice. I have the 360 version that I play on my current consoles, but it would be nice to be able to play on PlayStation as well.

Edit: Holy crap, I didn't see the price. Never mind. More than $20 for this is a crime.

Honestly there is only one game I could feel the difference, and that is Radiant Silvergun.

But it wasn’t apparent all that well… I was used to the Saturn version which is 2 frames less than the BC version - meaning it is a godlike version.

At worse, the BC is 1 frame less responsive than the Xbox 360, so your statement is BS.

If you've played the game on PS3 a lot and then played it on XSX you'd notice the significant input latency.

Alex starts talking about it at 4:20 in this video.

He's clearly talking about the improvement going from 30 FPS to 60 FPS via PC emulation. Going from 30 to 60 will improve response on any game.

The original game is already preserved via Xbox BC and emulation on PC. Half of the map was already remastered in RDR2. This really makes no sense, there’s no way of spinning it.

The more I think about the less sense this makes. Maybe it's a training exercise for a new dev team? That's the only reasonable explanation I can come up with.

Sounds like the PS4 and Xbox One versions of L.A Noire. Some texture improvements and it wasn't called a remaster.

Edit.

There is no spinning necessary. It's an enhanced port. That's what I personally wanted so I am happy. I prefer RDR1 over RDR2 largely because of all of the changes made to the gameplay with RDR2.

I find all of the crying and moaning pretty funny.

What time is it?
I wonder if they'll increase the price of the digital game on Xbox and call it a day. The only good news is a physical version for Switch but I'm expecting "requires download to play" and horrible performance.

You can keep the same gameplay with RDR2 graphics. There are competent devs who have done that with PS360 games already.

After this releases at 30fps on PS4/Switch, Phil should reassemble the FPS Boost team and get the Xbox BC version running at 120fps.
Just for the fireworks.

That would be dope. FPS boost for 1 and 2.

To be fair those games don't look that bad when outputted in a higher resolution but yeah the lack of effort and asking for full price is a joke.
Now if this was £20/25 I wouldn't mind.
Yep that’s what makes it laughable to me. The asking price and no effort.

I was thinking this will run out like the GTA port but was hoping against hope that they would remaster using RDR2 engine.

$50-60 for a straight up port of the game, sigh. I will stick to XSX and emulation on PC.

Well....Switch emulation is in a pretty great spot, and I know Xenia recently updated to give fantastic performance as well. Disappointed no native PC port though, would love to have native m+kb, but I'd bet there will be some sort of similar mod/user patch for the Switch emulation that enables it.

Either way, I'm glad the game isn't being left and forgotten about. Would have loved a proper remake, but I'm just glad it's still alive. I would love to get a full on Undead Nightmare style western game.

Rant what you want, but if it’s a decent port, I’ll double dip for the Switch version. Loved it on PS3 (it’s broken now) back in the days and having it portable is just the icing on the cake.
