R* pissing off PC gamers isn't anything new, but if they're going to port it to PS4 why not PS5 too? It has the same architecture.

Bewildering business decision.

At least they're throwing in Undead Nightmare.

That's probably the only positive thing I have to say about this.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

The guest on today's Grubb episode says they were given a heads up in advance before the announcement and were told this is the same as the BC version. No enhancements over the same game (likely 360 equivalent version instead of the worse PS3 one) in higher resolution.

It’s actually really sad to see how far this company has fallen. Rockstar had close to 20 years of pretty much non stop greatness (2001-2018) and now we get this.

Don’t give them your money and start following The Benz and Dan Housers new companies.

Oh fuck off. This is like reheating leftovers that somebody else made in the microwave and going “SO proud of our kitchen staff ❤️

I bet reeeee is already banning people for “lazy dev rhetoric”.

While I share the disappointment since I was hoping for a Steam release, but porting from PowerPC architecture (X360) to ARM (Switch) and x86 (PS4) isn't exactly simple.

Wow, this is just worst than I thought, unbelievable.

All those rumors dating back 2018 about remaking RDR1 map were fake and THIS is what we get?

Xbox has already has it via BC. This is just porting the PS3 version to PS4 (dunno what release the Switch version will be based on). So... you already have it, you're not missing anything.

I was going of the comment Microsoft made that is acceptable to just buy things because it stops them missing out on exclusives. Biggest hypocritical bullshit I've heard mind but yeah. 🤣

I almost thought that was the case, but... well, seeing some of the comments here (and elsewhere), you just can't be sure now can you. But I appreciate you not using "/s", kinda takes the whole point out of sarcasm.

Sounds crap, glad it's not on PC.

Finished it on PS3, gfx resolution and framerate were crap, game was great though.

More Rockstar shovelware, no thanks.

Assuming it's a solid port I'll probably get it on the day it comes out and then pick up a disc in a few years for cheap.

DF called it perfect emulation of the 360 version, no idea what latency you're talking about. I've played both RDR and Undead Nightmare on SX myself, they look and play great without a single drop from the 360 and with 16x AF.

Why are people in this thread saying the game runs at 60fps with backwards compatibility on Xbone and Series if the video clearly shows it running at 30fps?

Nice to get an official hand held version but I always thought this was meant to be some kind of nightmare to port.

No one said that ?

Does the X360 version of RDR GOTY Ed include the Nightmare dlc?

Yes, and all the multi-player things too IIRC.

Also, FYI, Undead Nightmare was also released as a separate standalone disc, so in case you find the two separately cheaper, that's just as good of an option.

I get it. My analogy was an oversimplification. I just crack up when I see devs on Twitter patting each other on the pack after charging full price for a bog standard product. I would never harass a dev (or anyone) online, but it’s like, read the room, know what I mean?

A company of rockstars stature putting out something like this is a joke.

Thanks, I remember buying the physical ed years back during Black Friday, but just checked and saw I also have the digital version of it.
I never got very far into RDR as I've never do in any open world game. Maybe I'll give it another shot

The higher resolution and AF makes a huge difference to the presentation. The game holds up very well even today.

And I agree with the folks who said porting this to the RDR2 engine would have likely lessened my enjoyment. I am not a big fan of how deliberately animation heavy RDR2 is.

This is the saddest news Rockstar has released in a while. I mean a straight port onto the PS4 and switch?!? What happened to PC? how about even attempting to do a remaster or something? After seeing something like BG3 come out and seeing how great it is and how much the devs listen to the community it blows my mind that Rockstar can act like this

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
Yep that’s what makes it laughable to me. The asking price and no effort.
Sadly the dirty casuals will pay for it.
My sister's boyfriend literally just play's Red Dead Redemption 2 every day for the last 5 years, nothing else.
And I'm not over exaggerating
He got ot a PS5, play's Red Dead Redemption 2 on it and new games are still sealed.
This he will buy.

Indeed, they have the money and manpower to give what the people want and they clearly know what we want, it's like they're pissing people off on purpose at this espescially after the GTA trilogy shit remake.
