Did you guys see this from Etika? He was doing a livestream video and then he said he got NX news and that NX news was coming very very soon

https://youtu.be/YgTNjPBXwHE

He starts at 46:30.

It says the video was streamed a few days ago. How do we know it isn't just what happened yesterday?

Edit: His Twitter is listed so I guess you could confirm it.

Edit 2: The other part is whether this news was a leak or official news?

Yeah, 25x92x281 is kinda of a joke. I can only assume that the finished product will be much smaller.

Just for reference, these are the dimensions of the iPad Air: 240 x 169.5 x 7.5 mm
And the iPad mini 4: 200 x 134.7 x 7.2 mm

You guys all act like a handheld gaming device needs to be the size of a smartphone when there are people who play on tablets outside all day long.

Don't forget that it's supposed to be 281 mm wide when the controller parts are attached. It's supposed to be 205 mm wide without them.
That makes it even smaller (though thicker) than an iPad mini.

My only hope is that this will somehow lead to a port of jubeat for NX.

I don't trust this guy at all, to be honest.
But let's see what he has to say.

Well he said specifically the NX would be "revealed very soon now." So I don't think he's talking about these other leaks. Anyways, we'll see.

Years of speculations and I still don't know what the hell the NX is

Handheld that's more powerful than Wii U that can plug into a TV and be played as a console. Also has detachable controllers for motion controlled gaming and they should function as a traditional controller+two basic controllers for multiplayer

I didn't watch the video long enough to see.

He seems to imply we will get possibly official information soon?

Edit: I guess people are gonna hope too much from the direct coming soon in 8 or so hours.

I know they said no NX news for the Direct... but man it would be perfect if they ended the direct with the announcement of when they'll announce NX.
Nintendo, plz.

lol damn it, I am looking at the announcement tweets and I don't see fine print mentioning no NX Announcements like at E3.

It just says, "focused exclusively on Nintendo 3DS".

I'm somewhat thinking if an announcement out of nowhere happens like when Cloud got announced for Smash Bros.

I'm still going to watch it. I'm not going to set my expectations that high.

Uggh the wording of the tweet.
A new Nintendo Direct is on the way! Be sure to check it out this Thursday at 7 a.m. PT! https://t.co/VcyH8lpy93

I can't take it as a hint of anything. Maybe it's just something 3DS related. lol

Depends on how good the motion controls are. Original Wii Remotes weren't great outside of large motions, and Wii Motion Plus had issues with calibration.

If they are as good as the Vive controllers I tried recently I could see myself getting back into motion controls, at least for some games.

Our eagerness to hear about NX does not match Nintendo's eagerness to reveal. They're a business and they're clearly taking a strategic approach to this whole thing.

I trust them to throw us a bone when they're ready. As a lifelong Nintendo fan I'm willing to let them do what they need to do. I can't be selfish here, in the sense of wanting info. I was really disappointed with Wii U from a marketing perspective. It was embarrassing to see Nintendo flounder like that, even though they put out some really high quality content during the lifetime of the Wii U and 3DS.

Do what you have to do, Nintendo. I respect your business sense and willingness to learn from past mistakes. Please, just don't fuck it up again. You have so much potential.

In the video Etika says very soon, then he says maybe it will be TGS isn't TGS another two weeks?

So, idk what exactly the source is telling him for him to say very soon, then he says TGS which would imply not this week-I'm thinking he knows TGS isn't this week, but maybe next week.

Can't watch the vid right now but is he reliable?
Not too sure. He said he got a person sent him some info. Etika is more known and his definitely enthusiastic. I don't think he would make stuff up, but it sounds like when he says very soon he meant in the next week because he brings up "maybe NX will be at TGS". TGS isn't for another two weeks and that's not "very soon".

You are not considering the shoulder/trigger button orientation if you do that 180 turning. Not to mention the reports point out that the attaching part is on one side of the controller.

The solution would be if the controller supported overlays either on top of a touch screen, trackpad or using image sensors.

Instead of what people normally speculate about having diferent attachments. Nintendo could develop just two attachments, use the image senors inside them and let the user remove the top part of the controller with buttons. This way you could do what you suggest to have the thumbstick above the 4 face buttons or below as the user choses.

However, i don't know if they want to complicate things further beyond the 2 detachable controllers by offering swappable overlays. At the least this is a solution that would work for what you are suggesting in that post.

The shoulder button could be small and on screen.

So everything is too vague. We probably would have heard something too if something was coming up very soon which could have been happening as soon as next week.

Anyway, it's September. It's going to be a long wait.

Etika's actually an alright dude. Though I can understand why a source would send Etika info (just to see him lose his shit).

We'll find out if the info he got was legit & truly hype-worthy in due time.

It's like complaining about Nintendo keeping using Joystick after the N64. Seriously, at this point motion control are just another part of Nintendo now, and it won't go away

No, they actually said at one point that the unique new feature would not be the controls. Motion controls work, they are great, people love them, so why not support motion controls as an option in their new console?

What's wrong with motion controls? They've basically become a standard for consoles these days thanks to the Wii.

I wouldn't take Etika seriously at all. All he does is hype EVERYTHING and has never ever leaked anything himself.

I don't understand why people just cannot wait. You've been patient all this time, so just hang on?

This is what us hanging on is like lol.

Before anyone gets their hopes up for western third party support on the NX.
Who would? It's clear as day this NX won't appeal to them. It's another underpowered system for them. Some will probably wait to see how it sells, but Japanese is where it matters for me anyways.

Nintendo revealed the Wii controller on September 15, 2005, 1 day before TGS and had secret meetings with the press several days prior to the reveal. I think we will be seeing a very similar situation with the NX.

Keep an eye on the big sites like IGN, Gamespot, Polygon. If they stop reporting on truthful rumors that means they have seen some things and are under NDAs, and things are about to go down.

Hoping the region lock thing is not just something added in later. It kind of became a headache for people wanting to buy stuff that would never come to their region and for those who travel alot.

No reason to think otherwise. That would have been a big long shot even if it was a console that met necessary power requirements. This is a handheld, which have traditionally not been supported anyway, and as a console it doesn't work for many 3rd parties working on XBO/PS4 titles.

I just want to know how many free spiders the system will include.

Otherwise, I'm willing to wait as long as.. until January for concrete information about the NX.

I know they're just mock ups, but in the diagrams the abxy buttons look far too close to the sticks when the controller is detached and turned sideways. Detachable controllers for multiplayer sounds like a lame idea tbh. It might be good for kids I guess (the main target market). It could be interesting if the controllers could be joined directly together to form a more traditional controller, but the rumours don't point to that from what I can tell.

I was hoping Nintendo would introduce some substantive new control innovation, as they did on DS and Wii. I don't want to be negative, but this sounds like Wii U 2.0 in terms of concept.

Hopefully Nintendo will come up with a single player friendly Clambshell design where the width and length of the device is the size of the screen, (for those that want it

Nintendo, plz.

I've heard due to their past it could be possible. If EWNetwork's source from his stream posted a few replies ago is legit, then it wouldn't be a shocker. Trying to keep my expectations very low, but Etika's reaction is making me a little giddy, admittedly. lol

In what way? I see nothing of this on WiiU, XboxOne or PS4.
Kinect failed, PS Move failed, Wiimote failed (in the end). And i like motion controls.

Skiesofwonder

Walruses, camels, bears, rabbits, tigers and badgers.
Yeah scroll wheels would seem like a major feature for Nintendo to leave out of development kits and none of the sketches outlined any shoulder or trigger buttons which I think would be odd if the NX didn't have.

It would pretty much kill off any third party support Nintendo has left if the NX had no bumpers/triggers. Also, how would Splatoon even work?

So I have to believe the sketches are inaccurate in that regard, which still gives me hope for scroll wheels!

If all of these rumors prove to be accurate, which is looking increasingly likely, and if there is no other major selling point announced beyond its form factor (this is a big "if", but I'm going with it for now), then I have to say the NX is starting to look like a disappointing product... and I'm not talking about its power.
