So, wait, what two-page addendum is NBC debunking?

They have one source saying that it was an example of disinformation, although that contradicts the digging that the NY Times has done.

• Last year, a Washington political research firm, paid by Mr. Trump’s Republican rivals, hired a retired British intelligence officer to investigate the candidate’s ties to Russia.

• After it became clear that Mr. Trump would be the Republican nominee, Democratic clients began to pay the firm for this same “opposition research,” standard practice in politics.

• The former British spy, who had long experience in Russia and a network of connections there, compiled dozens of reports detailing what he heard from his contacts. The memos he wrote, mostly one to three pages long, are dated from June to December.

• The memos contain unsubstantiated claims that Russian officials tried to obtain influence over Mr. Trump by preparing to blackmail him with sex tapes and bribe him with business deals. They also claim that the Trump campaign met with Russian operatives to discuss the Russians’ hacking and their leaking of emails and documents from the Democratic National Committee and from Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, John D. Podesta.

• The Washington firm and the former British spy, not identified here because of a confidential source agreement with The New York Times, gave the memos first to their clients but later to the F.B.I. and multiple journalists at The Times and elsewhere. The memos, totaling about 35 pages, also reached a number of members of Congress.

• Last week, when the F.B.I., C.I.A. and National Security Agency gave a classified report on the Russian hacking and leaking and efforts to influence the presidential election to Mr. Obama, Mr. Trump and congressional leaders, they attached a two-page summary of the unverified allegations in the memos.

And from the BBC:

The BBC also first saw the documents in October, but has been unable to verify the information included.

However, the BBC learned in November that the CIA was treating the information as "credible". The author of the dossier is understood to be a former British intelligence agent.

You're not SUPPOSED to take two billion dollars from property developers. Presidents always wanting credit for stuff they're supposed to do.

For you.
Considering the current showing at the press conference, I would have more respect for him if the allegations are true and he is directly involved with Russia, than he just being the dumbest idiot in existence that is being manipulated and played so well by Putin he might as well be connected to a PlayStation 2 controller.

Anything you don't like is "fake news" now.

including apparently the real news (from NBC, so you know it's "real") that the documents were fake:

Officials prepared a two-page summary of the dossier, which was originally generated as part of opposition research by anti-Trump Republicans and then shopped by Democrats. The officials said the summary was generated for Trump's briefing Friday at Trump Tower in New York.

Multiple officials say that the summary was included in the material prepared for the briefers, but the senior official told NBC News that the briefing was oral and no actual documents were left with the Trump team in New York. During the briefing, the president-elect was not briefed on the contents of the summary .

"Intel and law enforcement officials agree that none of the investigations have found any conclusive or direct link between Trump and the Russian government period," the senior official said.

According to the senior official, the two-page summary about the unsubstantiated material made available to the briefers was to provide context, should they need it, to draw the distinction for Trump between analyzed intelligence and unvetted "disinformation."

The briefers also had available to them unvetted "disinformation" about the Clinton Foundation, although that was not orally shared with Trump.

So stop falling for fake news, and start attacking Trump on substance. I know it's tricky because liberals spent the last year defending Clinton's wall st connections, Obama's drone program, and now most absurdly the valor of the CIA.

We need a strong independent left to fight Trump, not desperate elite neoliberals clinging to power after the most embarrassing political loss in generations.

Lol what the fuck are you talking about?

People are not understanding that NBC report. It quotes a source saying the summary was an example of unvetted intel and then puts disinformation in quotes. If it's unvetted that means they don't know if it's true or disinformation, hence the quotes. It says nothing about credibility.

They missed the deadline to sign up for the "Identifying Fake News" webinar so they were forced to do it in person.
They even made John McCain himself deliver the material in person months in advance and had it compiled by a former M16 agent! Wow, they sure we're thorough.

NBC's take seems incongruous to me.

Lol what the fuck are you talking about?

I'm talking about the shameful dissemination of false stories by some of the most prominent US newspapers. The PropOrNot story, and the Vermont power plant hacking stories in the Washington Post were particularly egregious.

This whole narrative of scary Russian hackers undermining America is like a security blanket for liberals so they don't have to do the serious introspection about why they failed so spectacularly.

Man, I have never seen Trump like this at all. I mean, he's had some incoherent stuff before, but he really seems totally out of it here.

What the...?

I assume you have never actually watched a full unscripted campaign rally from Trump.

He was more on message during this than I've ever seen him without a teleprompter.

President-elect Donald Trump was not told about unverified reports that Russia has compromising information on him during last week's intelligence briefing, according to a senior intelligence official with knowledge of preparations for the briefing.

Hmmmm

so basically the news is printing stuff they don't know is true or not, that makes me feel a whole lot better

Dude, how can you live with hitching your trailer to that orange Manchurian cheeto? Seriously, have some self respect.

I have many times. And we must be watching two different things. He was all over the place in that conference, especially once questions started.

I'll just repost this here:

What with the stuff, the apology and everything else recently, I'm 90% certain Trump is some people's sub and that he's getting one of the most public humilliations any sub ever could get.

I'd like to think Trump is somehow, for some fucked up reason (he lost a bet, owes some big shit, or something), was forced to run for office and he is desperatedly trying to get out, but stupid people still support him. Or maybe he's just a dumb evil guy.

Buzzfeed released it. Many other news organizations were in the process of verifying it. The report has existed and been in the hands of media and others for awhile.

This is accurate

"Unsubstantiated" does not mean "fake". It just means the intelligence community is unable/unwilling to confirm its veracity.

All of it could be untrue, but it also lines up pretty nicely with things we already know.

His photoshop work is amazing as always.

Comrade? Comrade!

In all seriousness though, his report does fly against what everyone else has been reporting.
