I think my fascination with this comes from DNI's clarification that the leaked dossier did not play a role in formulating that briefing. Trump team has been playing defense based on the stuff in that report, (Cohen and Pee Pee) trying to discredit it. DNI has caught Trump team in their lie AND distanced IC's findings from Buzzfeed's dump.
Clapper just burned Trump team, basically.

Clapper just confirmed this document was in fact not 4chan's work, and that it was in fact shown to Trump by the IC as part of the briefing involving his connections to Russia. This story isn't going anywhere.

They're covering their asses and saying it's unprofessional for intelligence communities to leak information, which he says they didn't. Basically confirming that it's a legit report, but not one that the US IC firmly believes in quite yet.
He did the exact opposite of it.
I don't think that's killing it - he even apologizes for the leaks and cannot vouch for the veracity of the documents. Notice how he's careful to not say it's fake.

If there was communication between Trump's Campaign and Russia, Pence gets hit. He was a part of the campaign.
However, if the entirity of Trump's campaign side is convicted of Treason, I can see a very strong case being made for a re-election happening. Because with this election, America will have not only had foreign interference within the Democratic Process, but also an unprecedented loss of the EC while winning the Popular Vote.
It's not just the interference, it's not just the Treason, it's not just the Popular Vote being 2+ Million for the loser, etc. All this together is a shistorm of Constitutional Crisis, and it would help America hopefully move past it.
For lack of a better way, it lets Republicans move on from Trump(Because Pence/Ryan would be viewed as illegitimate heirs by the Trumpettes) while losing virtually nothing, gives them time to try and actually develop a way to "fix" the ACA, and allows for the establishment who were against Trump(McCain,Graham,Rubio,etc) to take back some semblance of Control over the party.
I agree, if anything it reaffirms that this is real and that the contents of the doc should be investigated.

At the very least this confirms that the IC believes Russia has shit on Trump.

They probably were not briefed on it orally, but it was in the report. In these briefings apparently you first read the report, then the intelligence officials are there for you mostly to ask for clarification or direct them to gather more information on certain topics. Wouldn't be surprised if Trump simply never read to the end of the report.
