There's a new version of Resident Evil 2 made specifically for arcades, and an early version of it is already playable at Namco Funscape in the UK. Resident Evil 2: Dead Shot is an on-rails arcade lightgun collaboration between Bandai Namco and Capcom, creating a fresh arcade iteration based on the 2019 survival horror classic.

IGN has visited Namco Funscape in Romford, north-east London, and gone hands-on with Resident Evil 2: Dead Shot ourselves, with plenty of gameplay to check out!

I love this comeback of Arcade games the Lightguns are back , the beat'em ups are back , fighters never left but getting a real push from PlayStation with Project Defiant & the Marvel fighting game.

Love these type of games. PS3 had some good ones. House of the Dead Overkill needs a modern release. That game was great and pure comedy
I love on rail/light gun shooters as well, throughly enjoying both the gun Survivor titles, as well Chronicles.

A touching to dead genre, but will always hold a special place in my heart due to representing one of the pure forms of what arcade games are to me.

I am going to do a visit and give this a go at Namco's arcade near one of my client places as ain't too far for one evening next week before I am off on holiday so will look forward to getting my hands on to live this experience fully.

Just a random somewhat connected point, I wish Capcom would port the Chronicles series( Umbrella/Darkside) to modern consoles and/or give us a 3rd game( I would imagine focusing on Vii and Village). It's a shame the older games are stuck on 7th gen hardware.

Frankly I'd love if they ported those games to VR. We did after all get a VR port of 4 a few years back.

I would love to see these get a port brush up as well. Spent lots of hours on Umbrella Chronicles unlocking everything to 100 percent. Game was like one of the best Wii experiences I had with the system. Dark Side Chronicles was too much of a frame rate drop fest lol

If I recall Darkside had alot of that shaky cam effect, it's been a few years. I must have played through Umbrella at least 3-4 times.

Man, this is awesome. I was just talking to my cereal friend about lightgun games, and lamenting the fact that we stopped really getting them after the Wii. The IR pointer really was the perfect way to control play those games, short of being in an arcade.

Emulated Wiimote controls using gyro just isn't the same as having a fixed point to aim at. Sometimes I feel like we all took the Wii for granted… we should have had more rail shooters.

So, arcades still exist where you all live? I don't think we have arcades anymore save for that one guy's basement. Last time I played was in China.

And who filmed the last 5 minutes? Terrible.

There's a few around London central, and the One that this being based is in Romford, which is like a 35 minute ish train journey from one of the client's stations I am going to hop onto the tube on and give this a go next week as generally finish earlier there.

Oof. That's some dedication. Well I hope it's worth it.

I've not been in a proper game arcade place since I was in Los Angeles back touching over two years ago (or over 10 years UK), so I am in the mood to live some inner nostalgia and appreciate a new RE on rail game experience for a little bit before I am off to Florence for a good week away from everything. Be nice to appreciate this last bit of tiny flexibility hours before all family stuff heavily happens soon after with little one and the misses as it were.
