Just beat the game. I really enjoyed it! In preparation for it, I replayed RE2 Remake a few times after a year off from that game, and this new game acts as an excellent companion to it. The vibes of the two games are pretty different, with RE2R having more emphasis on the Horror, with the action as a side-piece, whereas its the opposite in RE3R. So instead of feeling like a horror game, it feels more like a thriller. I think that Boss battles were far superior in this one, and the pacing was breakneck and consistently entertaining. I definitely look forward to replaying it!
I can understand why some fans of the original are disappointed with this, since it's not really a remake, but rather its own completely original game. The Resistance is also not the same kind of game mode as Mercenaries (and its jank), so if you're someone that's only interested in single player, this doesn't offer nearly as much value as what a $60 game ought to provide. However, as a big fan of 7 and 2 Remake, I am really glad we got this so soon after those two, and look forward to getting the platinum trophy eventually. If you're on the fence about getting it, you should probably wait for a price drop, but only because the game is short; the quality is excellent, in my opinion.
