Just finished the game for the first time, playing on Hardcore. 11 and a half hours total, 6 and a half of gameplay.
Honestly, I don't get the backlash: this is the best Resident Evil game I've ever played. It's got tension, horror, combat, a few good puzzles, excellent boss fights, Nemesis is great, pretty much all of the original's main beats made their way into the remake one way or another... Sure, we didn't get to enter the Clock Tower and the Park is missing. But the package is still VERY strong...
It's the best gameplay the series' ever had, enemies are very tightly designed around the new dodge mechanic. Good variation with the parasites and other surprises the campaign holds. Revelations 1 had the best Hunters in the series, in my opinion, but this definitely takes the cake from it. Those fuckers are INTENSE. They had me using everything I had, and I'm the hoarder type. Wasn't taking any chances around them and I wouldn't risk facing 2 at a time as Carlos.
The hospital is GOAT. Raccoon streets come in as a close second. NEST 2 is excellent as well, much better than 2's original NEST, but gets 3rd place because the other scenarios are way too strong.
Loved what they did with the story too, they're integrating plot points from other spin-off titles into the game while expanding previously established lore.
