Oh interesting my order would be (from best to worst)

1: Resident Evil 6
2: Resident Evil 4
3: Resident Evil 1 (Any version)
4: Resident Evil 5
5: Resident Evil 2 (classic)
6: Resident 7 (VR)
7: Resident Evil CV
8: Resident Evil Rev 2
9: Resident Evil 0
10: Resident Evil 3 (classic)
11: Resident Evil Rev 1
100: Umbrella Corps

Apart from the top 3 I actually prefer the Evil Within games. If anyone hasn't played them, please do. They are so good!
RE6 the best RE game? Rip dude, you're going to be destroyed by other posters. ;)

You'll be surprised how quickly you get use to it 😂

Resi 6 only got the backlash miles after release, at the time it was received well.

4 campaigns each offering something for everyone. Leon had the horror, Chris the action, Sherry the Nemisis style stalker. I loved how the campaigns affected each other and teaming up at certain parts of the story. The melee system is amazing, easy to take down one zombie, hard to take down a crowd (as it should be).

The multiplayer games were very addictive as well. Honestly never had as much fun in a Resident Evil game before. Played through it so many times 😁

I've been playing this constantly since the PC release date. Gone through 2 or 3 times on Standard, a couple times on Assisted, and once on Hardcore. I've knocked out a couple achievements for some of those precious shop points, and I've unlocked some of the fun weapons. I started a run of Nightmare, and I love the concept and the changes to the opening areas (up to Nemesis 1) because it gives me an idea of the effort they have put into the remix of the gameplay and how aggressive everything is. But I'm only going to experience it as a tourist with cheat items, because I'm not particularly interested in the trial and error and perfect dodging necessary to get through that legitimately. It is funny being punched so hard you die in one shot, though.

Speaking of punching, I barely ever dodged as Carlos first time round. I was dreading the herb use in the hospital on Hardcore, so I made good use of the continues and practised. His section is basically RE4 to me now: have fun with some Wesker-reminiscent melee and do a cabin defence in the lobby. I can't dodge lickers yet but I have realised I can skip both. They packed some fun Carlos-isms into the RPD.

I took the game for what it was, and it's a really fun reimagining of 3. It is a shame that they cut so much, and like everyone else said Nemesis going from the original Ne-T to this G-like creature is a bit of a shame.

I'm really bored of how many cutscenes I have to skip. There's times when there's 4 or 5 in a row! I wish they would add a "Skip all" button. But even when I'm skipping them, I do like ones where Nicholai is there. His facial expressions are great.

Jill STARS outfit > all.

Might knock out a cheat item Hardcore S rank with maybe a few others I need to finish up and unlock the IRL today. I haven't used the RAI-DEN to full effect and I imagine it cuts down on a lot of boss time.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, but my god I couldn't stand that game. I played through as Leon, hearing that it was the closest to the RE I wanted to experience, and I pushed through to see the ending. Pointless, as I don't remember it now. I have been thinking about trying the other characters though as I want to know the story, and I hear Ada has the best.

What a weird series this has been. I played I played everything in the classic era. I loved the world. Seeing how much expansion RC got from 2 to 3 then Outbreak 1 and 2 was so much fun. I even loved how the RE2 demo with RE1DC had a different route out back of Kendo's shop. I wanted Outbreak File 3. I still do. CVX I played so much that I knew it off by heart and could recite the route I took for speed runs and the puzzle answers. I even played Survivor and Dead Aim. But the newer games? I have Revelations 1 unfinished, Revelations 2 untouched, 6 not finished, and 7 I only played the demo of.

Thats strange to me as I've never really noticed a dip in quality. Maybe its just a sign of getting older and your tastes in games differing? 😊

Try the Evil Within 1 and 2 depending on how much you liked Resi 4 and 5!

I get annoyed by posts like these. You don't like or want the game. A short experience is to much for you. Whatever, that is your prerogative and choice with how you spend your money. Clearly the value isn't there for you. Move on and/or wait for a sale and let those willing to buy and enjoy these game (e.g. myself who bought the CE) and express enjoyment about it then complaining.

Wrong.
It was only a silly comment, nothing more

I’m actually the perfect candidate for that game (that I have already finished 3 times during the week end, and can’t wait to replay it, still), as I only have about 4-8 hours to game per week (which also why I stop myself from playing P5 Royal because of the time investment)

You get annoyed really easily. Perhaps a message board isn’t for you and you should move on?

4 is one of my favourite games of all time. I’m waiting for the HD project, have you seen the thread here? 5 deserves a replay but wasn’t quite as good. It will be cool to play it without the colour filter I originally played it with!

Thanks for the reminder, a podcast I listened to recently recommended TEW2 as a fantastic game and I was going to add it to the list.

I'd love to play a remaster of 4 but I don't own a gaming PC. 5 I like alot more than perhaps it deserves because of the coop mode.

Oh let me know what you think of it! I'd absolutely start with Evil Within 1 though. IMO it has the slight edge but more importantly the storyline is very closely tied similar to Silent Hill 1 and 3.

I'm not sure if I'm loving this one fight so far

The clock tower nemesis fight.

I can dodge his attacks, but I've gone through what feels like 8+ waves of knocking him off the wall and unloading into his red rocket dick with everything I have and he just won't die. It gets to a point where I have no ammo left and the map is showing blue, so I just let him kill me and try again but differently, only to have the same thing happen...

This is the first major annoyance I've felt with the game so far.

You should check out the shop and buy items you deem necessary to practice on Nightmare and Inferno... You can get more defense, health regen, increased damage, easier dodging and infinite weapons from there. There's no shame in using the items to practice, when you feel comfortable, you can try to do a real run in those difficulties!

Try knifing only when you knock him down, then unloading the rest when you can no longer knock him? Or does he infinitely loop if you don't have an explosive to knock him down?

I didn't know about most of this hidden dialogue. Carlos during a Bard impression is amazing:

I'll hold off on watching the video as I'm not quite done yet with my 1st run, but yeah I got all the Carlos dialogue at that locked door where he does Bard's voice, it was pretty funny. Also like his reaction to the spade symbol locked door.

If I remember I will, I’ll probably wait for a sale though. A Silent Hill-esque story is a plus, I’m more intrigued now.

Nightmare thoughts so far, using an IRL:
+Item placement at the beginning seems to favour the harder difficulty
+Extra enemies, sometimes in cool locations and even forcing a different route
+Some of the areas seem like they were designed with Nightmare’s enemy placement
+Nemesis speed is ~1.5x normal. Reminds me of Outbreak File 2’s red Mr X at the end of boss rush 3.
-Ne-a spam. The enemy with an insane reach and a fast attack with not much of a tell is thrown everywhere. It’s too much. I couldn’t play this without infinite weapons and have fun unless I was playing M+KB for pinpoint accuracy.
-Not much is changed outside the first area.

You can always use the knife in a pinch. As long as you have a mine thrower round for his phases the fight is winnable. You can also knock him off any other perch he stops on, it doesn't have to literally be the tower.

Its important you get good at that fight because its recycled later on anyway LOL

I'm midway through my hardcore playthrough. I resisted buying anything from the shop but I'm finding this tough. Probably because I like to kill everything in an RE game, clear out areas, collect everything. But that's not really possible on this difficulty (and if it is I just suck).

Looking forward to getting through this so I can spend money for nightmare. I'm thinking the two extra hip pouches with increase attack and defence? I think infinite weapons would kill the enjoyment as ammo conservation is a key part of RE.

You just suck lol jk but on Hardcore I was able to kill everything except the optional Nemesis kills.

Go full RE4 and use your knife a few times when you get a zombie on the ground, before they get back up. Good ammo conservation tactic.

Also don't do what I did and use Acid rounds on Pale Heads. They shrug that off. Acid Rounds seem to strictly be for Hunters. (might work on Nemesis too but I didn't try).

Started up Nightmare just to get to the first save point and blitz through it tomorrow... Holyfuckingshit at them putting more zombies in the auto pilot scripted beginning sequence before meeting Carlos and the zombies are more aggro.

I don't know if it's the same on Nightmare but on Inferno you'll find Nemesis runs like an NFL player and more zombies in the way.

I have finished every achievement aside from the no item box run. 38 hours in, so 40 and that’s me done. I’ve got everything I wanted to from this game, and it’s not a 10/10 but 38 hours in 3 days means it’s certainly good enough. I’ve definitely played it more than RE2make, although that game does certain things better. It’s certainly more faithful.

I find Inferno and the insane speed zombies and Nemesis move it actually make it easier for me to dodge in, which is handy. Still not particularly interested in playing that without cheat items, though.

I’m looking forward to speed runs of this, I’m sure some impressive things will be done before long. My favourite little time saver is getting in front of Carlos on the way to the train and his super speed pushing you along. Try it and see how long you can stay in front of him for.

The defence coins are much better than I thought they would be - with both you can take a bite on Inferno difficulty and still be in fine condition. I would definitely recommend the hip pouches, they’re always useful. I’m really not sure how much Capcom intended to be used on harder difficulties, especially the last two, because there are no rank restrictions and the time required for hardcore is pretty damn quick. But as it’s single player, do whatever feels the most fun. That’s why I left the assault rifle until last - I can spray and pray with Carlos already, and the other weapons are more fun. RAI-DEN is a particular favourite, especially as it works best after a perfect dodge. I also might do a challenge run of Hot Dogger and pistol only one day.

I'm starting to think I hit some kind of memory leak or something. I could go the whole fight without taking a hit, use every piece of ammo in the map, and he wouldn't die. I spent a long time and multiple tries.

I looked up a video of it also on hardcore and he died to way less than I was throwing at him.

I honestly think they did it in an attempt to make them stand out more. I remember so many people used to say that Mr. X and Nemesis were too similar with the original games. Folks were like, "Capcom is lazy, he's just a reskinned Mr. X with a few more changes."

So I couldn't help but think this was them trying to make the experiences more varied. 🤷‍♂️

I want the RAI-DEN and the Hot Dogger to return as unlockables in every RE game from now on. They are my new favorite weapons in the series--even more fun than the infinite rocket launcher, and requiring a bit more skill to use.

I cannot fathom why anyone would think that about the original Mr X and Nemesis. They were massively different. X showed up once in a while, got downed once with minimal effort, and disappeared until the next encounter. He smashed through the odd wall or two, but he was quite calm until he transformed at the end.

Nemesis was faster, more aggressive, followed you from room to room, used weapons, and actually had presence.

If anything the remakes made them more similar than anything. They gave Mr X most of Nemesis’ unique selling points, which I’d guess is more of a reason for them dropping Type 1 Nemesis so soon into the game. Which is ironic, because what they turned him into was RE2’s other end game boss.

I honestly had no problems with them in the originals and I loved them both. Just remembered reviews mentioning it quite a bit, didn't agree with it at all of course.

Nikolai's portrayal in this remake was amazing. He hammed it up perfectly! Every scene with him is fantastic.

Hell, I'd say Jill, Carlos and Tyrell are pretty great, too. This is a very strong cast of characters--my favorite since RE4. Carlos must return after this. He deserves to be a main player in the franchise. Little touches, like how he tries to imitate Bard's voice to get into the voice-activated hospital office, make him really stand out.

Another thing I wanna point out in RE3make is the BGM. The music that plays once you take control of Jill in the hospital is my jam, but for some reason, the music doesn't activate in the Nightmare/Inferno difficulties. I wonder why. Here's the music I'm talking about:

I was expecting more but some areas was completely lacking.
I hope they do a Original OTS Soundtrack swap DLC.

They need to add this and mercenaries as DLC.

I still can't believe they cut mercenaries /facepalm. FFS remember when they made a mercenaries stand alone game on the 3DS? Now they won't even put it in as a bonus mode anymore.

What sucks even more is that there's areas of the game that would be perfect for mercenaries maps.

I haven't started Nightmare yet but I heard those upper diffiiculties can only be played if you know how to dodge. I'm playing a second time on Hardcore to practice my timing a bit more.

The NE-Alpha parasite zombies can be dodged by listening to the shriek they do before attacking with their tendrils. Listen to that and time your dodges to it, not the visual animation.

Carlos must return after this. He deserves to be a main player in the franchise. Little touches, like how he tries to imitate Bard's voice to get into the voice-activated hospital office, make him really stand out.

I get a feeling they could do DLC for his path after he leaves Jill at the hospital. There's a huge stretch in which he's missing and I'd love to know what he's been up to. I'd also play DLC for Nicholai, if they ever make it. Really loved his performance as well.

That's absolutely the reason they made his appeareances more scripted and linear. Capcom is more interested in the majority of customers finishing the game rather than impressing the hardcore (unfortunately) and Mr. X was a major complaint from 2.

To compensate, they made him very aggressive when he does show up, though. So I'll take it...

You can tell they really pulled back from it, there's practically only one segment in 3 which is anything like Mr. X roaming the RPD and that's the return from the Substation to the Subway Station. They force the player to deal with it once, but not more than that.

The hunters make up for it though, all we need is people modding them to go through doors more often. Maybe they already do in Nightmare....

Really disappointed things are much more missable in this game than in RE2. I don't remember if it was like that in the original or not, but I missed a hip pouch and was unable to go back for it, and inventory management has been so annoying since. The game isn't really difficult at all, but they do operate as you advance like you have more inventory slots, when you could easily miss out on them. Should have at least given a "point of no return" warning before some items are completely gone forever. Because I have intention on giving this another playthrough, and frankly, if/when devs assume gamers will give your game another playthrough that's just a fresh coat of paint of excuses to cover up lazy or poor game design.

What?

Good game design is precisely the type of game that stands the test of replayability.

They really should. They already have both models and player animations for Jill, Carlos, Leon, Ada, Hunk, and Claire.

Add my boi Tyrell up in there and you got a roster.

It just bums me out that they cut a core fan favorite feature to chase gaming trends. Because that's all Extinction is, a mode to chase the DBD, Year One, twitch gaming trends.
