ROG ALLY has 8TF performance in boost mode. Pricing aiming under $1000. Launches may 11 with 3 months of gamepass

Anyone thinking this tier of hardware will be less than $800 is smoking crack, it's very clear it's going to be beefy ass mobile hardware aimed at an enthusiast crowd.

Also 1080p screen at 7 inches lol, what a waste of resources, the battery life is likely going to be garbage.
Just quoting myself, I knew it was never going to be anywhere near Steam Deck in pricing, the writing was on the wall. That tier of hardware is so much more expensive to produce, why you think Valve had such a tough time getting even a Zen 2 chip down to $400-$600?

Was expecting more men of culture to arrive with that bait.

RDNA 3? That's a full 1-1.5 more RDNAs than XSX/PS5. RIP consoles….

599 - 256gb
699 - 512gb

I'm day one if it's that.

That would be a killer price right...?

Buy it exclusively from a big high street retailer in the UK.

Steam deck already pushes mighty fine performance in games, imagine this thing basically rip my PC. Imagine the steam deck 2 is going to bring, its basically console performance at that point if they keep the res at 800p.

My guess is that this is going to be $799, maybe $849. If the battery life is solid, I think I'm allin on this. Steamdeck is just too weak for me, and this seems up my alley power wise.

Reps from AMD and Xbox will be talking at the event, I think this is sort of a big deal. Not something to be lumped in with the likes of the Aya Neo etc.

My guess is the base Z1 model will perform roughly on par the Steam Deck on GPU-limited scenarios (newer games) but a lot better on CPU-limited ones (emulation, older games at high framerates). Asus is probably going to charge for the base Z1 512GB model about as much as Valve charges for their 512GB Steam Deck, around 650€, their case being that it has a better screen and it's not limited to Steam games.

The Z1 Extreme model is anyone's guess, at this point. If Asus charges >1000€ I think it's a failed product and it will sell about as much as the AYA Neo, GPD Win or AOKZoe. If it's 800€ or less then many people will be willing to pay for it for sure.

"Aiming" under can actually end up being 1099 too, when you fail to hit the goal. lol
Which 999 would anyway mean for us Europeans. The RX 7900 XT for $999 being 1149€ here.
Well, EU and UK prices include VAT, so roughly 20% more (varies by country of course).

US prices don't include taxes and those range from 0 to 12% or so depending on state/city/county.

Hmm, if really $699 for the extreme and it performs that well, they could be on to something. And some cheaper ones with the weaker chip could be decent too.....

Are these inflated rdna3 tflops or rdna 2 8 tflops? If they are really the equivalent of rdna2 8tflops than that is an impressive titlecard for a handheld the issue as always will be bandwidth and heat throttling. The tflop number is just a marketing trick sadly it will not output at that peak due to heat and it is severely bandwidth starved to the point it willl not even perform close to a series s with its 4tflop gpu.

Just looked at the benchmarks its running far cry 6 at low settings at 60fps at 720p upscaled with frs....so yeah its basically capable of playing the ps4 gen games at lowish medium settings at max ~900p not quite the massive leap from steamdeck and next gen console that the tflops imply.

If they can deliver a Windows image that's functionally at least 90-95% equivalent to a Desktop/Laptop, that alone will be a night and day improvement over Steamdeck's janky ass Linux, Proton nonsense, and tiered compatibility horseshit.

That's pretty damn impressive for a portable device, makes you wonder what kind of specs Series S could have launched with if they'd waited a few years

699 dollars is actually quite based. this is starting to make the 512gb steamdeck look obsolete. Just put holoiso on it and you've gotten a steam deck pro (w/o the touchpads, fancy thumbsticks or gyro)

Thats actually pretty insane.
When they said under 1000 i was sure they were gonna do some 899 shit.

699 for the range topper is actually pretty damn good.
Yep, thought they were going to come in at $999. $700 is very good price for what's being offered.

Battery is the remaining big question.

Edit: It is a shame they don't have touchpad, gyro and only 2 back buttons. Especially for older games that don't have gamepad controls or have iffy gamepad controls, those options are great.

Gyro is quite nice for aiming in shooters too if you configure it right.
