Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, Stan, McEnroe, Murphy, Williams', Agassi, Kuerten, Navratilova, Safin, Sampras etc.

has Federer ever entered a doubles GS draw after winning one in singles?
those guys don't care about doubles, they play it for fun and at the olympics, that's hardly caring about doubles.

Awww, was pulling for Kiki ;) oh well, like Rodgers, awesome run for her.

Muguruza/Williams in the final, let's hope Mugu makes a better run for the championship then she did in Wimbledon last year.

That was a bit of a marathon game!

Bit nervy from Andy at first but a fantastic cross court winner to clinch it. But in the game before, Stan held to love comfortably.

EDIT - Murray goes up a break. He's winning the battle at the net thus far. I'm sure he'll consolidate with a flurry of 1st serves in...!!!!!!!!!

EDIT 2 - And actually, he does! Although Wawrinka had 15 - 30.

EDIT 3 - Going with serve still, 4-2 to Murray. Meanwhile, Djokovic takes the first set 6-2.

EDIT 4 - Stan saves a break point, but a good return of service causes the Swiss to sky it off his racquet. Stan already had 10 unforced errors going into this game. But he's managed to fight back and take the game with some good touches at the net. 4-3, Murray to serve.

EDIT 5 - Easy hold to love for Murray. Wawrinka serving to stay in the set.

Wawrinka holds almost as comfortably with a little bit of luck on the 30-15 point. Murray serving for the set...

EDIT - Stan putting on a hellofa fightback and has break point. Strong serve from Murray after an odd delay call from the umpire to make it 2nd serve.

Stan gets another break point chance after a punishing rally.

another joke slam semi for djokovic, nothing new there. his goat milk empire buys him the best draws.
BRB patenting and starting my GOAT goat milk company.

* * *

3rd break point, 3rd save from Murray. 1st serve % is uncharacteristicly good from the Scot today.

EDIT - First set to Murray, 6 - 4.

correct about everything
you have to feel for wawrinka, though. he is producing some excellent tennis, but it will not be enough: he is not playing against a man, he is playing against destiny.

wawrinka is like a tragic hero from some ancient greek play. no matter what, things don't go well when mortal men strive against gods.

I like your arbitrary and shifting rules for what constitutes as "caring".

So many touring professionals barely break even making a living and doubles specialists even more so. You think a top player takes it lightly that they may be denying somebody else of their income by grabbing a wild card and taking a spot they earned in name only?

And many doubles specialists play all the smaller tournaments at a financial loss just to keep their ranking up in order to qualify for a major, where the draws and prize money can make up for it.

And you think players like McEnroe aren't proud of their Slam titles, having accomplished winning two titles at one venue? It's far easier when you're focusing on only one.

So yeah, players care a helluva lot more than you understand.

Wawrinka is beating himself. He's being super impatient and making tons of errors. It's gonna be almost impossible to bounce back from this.

It looks like Stan finally woke up. He's not making nearly as many errors and seems intent on not going down in straight sets.

This is perhaps the highest quality match of the year so far IMO, maybe under competition from Murray-Nishikori in the Davis Cup.
