[Rumor] Microsoft is looking into an Xbox Series X Digital and there are also plans for 'Other Hardware' in 2025

Having 3 SKUs with different performance capabilities is a dumb move. They shot themselves in the foot creating the Series S when they should have just made a Disc and Discless SKUs for Series X.
Why do you think 3SKU?
We need Xbox Series XX, Series XS and Series SX in addition to Xbox Series S and X.

Those guys in twitter will have more specific info about the leaks by next year if it is true. SX Pro should be in early development stage by now if it is going to release in 2025.

This gen will most likely be longer than last due to supply constraints for the first 2 years. I mean shit, this year we finally started seeing way less cross gen games. So 2025 shouldn't be late for an Xbox Series Pro or whatever.

So MS just copying Sony's homework a year after it was due? Well, 3 years in the case of a digital Series X.

MS screwed up this gen, again, so they might as well ride out this gen with what they got and try and aim for the next one, instead of futilely playing catch up to this gen's PS HW when it will barely make a dent in sales.

I don't think that the BG3 coop fiasco is that big of a deal. It's a niche genre. I mean if there was an issue with the next CoD ot Assassin's Creed, etc. it'd be a problem. I think the S was envisioned and mainly exists to be a GP machine.
I disagree, the game reviewed very well. BG3 is getting so many good reviews and l so much hype that people who never even played a CRPG are now getting on the bandwagon. Larian Studio is now a high profile developer. They're like the only ones nowadays with good writing and storytelling an done of the few who still are CRPGs.

When Demon's Souls came out, no one gave a shit. Now look at the souls games. They used to be "niche" too. Now you have people like Elon Musk playing Elden Ring. Gaming is just a whole lot more mainstream now.

I feel like the only few niche genres that are left are like point and click adventure games that barely anyone makes anymore. And sadly RTS also fallen off.

With how popular BG3 is and how Xbox is missing out on their own version because of the Series S, it really makes then look horrific in the public eye. There is no denying that. Series S was enviosned as a Game Pass machine? To be quite honest, Game Pass is the real "Xbox" seller not the Series S or the Series X or even PC since Game Pass is available on that too. Microsoft relies on subscription numbers not really console sales.

It doesn't matter if the genre is niche, because the game certainly isn't. Baldur's gate 3 is blowing up in popularity.

It feels like that cause Covid put everything in a time capsule and froze everything. Entire world suffered, game development got massive delays and games that were supposed to be out have been delayed for years and the entire schedule just got thrown out the window. Shitty timeline.
True but that also means we haven't fully tapped the power of current gen.

Also true. I am still baffled by how good TLOU 2 looks on the pathetic 1.3 tflops of the PS4. True console potential usually doesn't gets reached until the last 2 years of the generation. TlOU 2 came out same year as as the PS5 but a few months earlier.

Funny enough, TLOU 1 came out same year of 2013 as the PS4 was coming out and also in the summer just like TLOU 2 did in the summer of 2020. Both of these titles were the swan songs of their respective consoles and always pushed the system to their limit. I expect the same thing for the PS5. You won't see a final gen potential title until the year 2027 or 2028.

It's always like this. History repeats itself all the time.

A series x2/s2 doesn't mean the end of the original series consoles, they will still be supported for years something like how ipads are supported depending one which version of the xbox OS can be installed.

The only games in my mind that could work flawlessly on six hardware configurations including the new switch is cod, borderlands and a few other games including indies, the rest will be constrained, it's not a good sign, seriously, ms is on 3rd place, they can't make choices as Nintendo and Sony that could work on their favor, it's a fatal mistake, they can't start a generation the way Nintendo started releasing the switch.

Fair, I was thinking the Series X version was still being released on time with Series S version just being delayed. You're right, that is definitely a problem for Microsoft.

Tons of third-party games don't come to the Switch that do come to Xbox (console). I don't think Switch started a new gen. at all.

Yeah, I agree. I mistakenly thought that only the Series S version was being delayed. This is pretty big fuck up for Xbox.
