Just got the game.

Fantastic opening scene. And that Airplane scene. :D

SR3's Driving >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>GTA:IV.

Game is good.

That's like saying Big Rigs driving is better than GT5.

You can't finish certain assassinations later in the game, so try to get them done when you can

That's a great tip, thanks. I usually leave everything until I've beaten the game, so obviously I would have been effed in the ehhh.

Thorax of Odin
Are there pimps in this game? One of my favorite things to do in SR2 was to walk into a big group of pimps with a few followers and get into a big brawl.

How do you do the wrestling moves on people? I tried left trigger but it sets off a QTE based beatdown. I just want to horse collar dudes.

Beat the game, last mission was one of the coolest moments I've had in gaming for a while outside of Skyrim. Game got better as I went on, more and more stuff opened up, combined with the more money for perks/levels and it seemed to flow better. I did miss having infinite ammo at the start of the game with sidequests. Having them tied to
level 50
means you're not getting them until they very end-ish of the game unless you're seriously grinding things out.

I do wonder where SR4 can go from here though, especially with the nature of the ending.

Also, some of the Vehicle theft missions get ridiculously difficult once
STAG
shows up, so do all of those as soon as you can.

The whole final act is incredible. After act 2 I didn't think they could keep blowing me away so hard, but blow they did. Also extra points for actually
recording personality appropriate lines for when you're impersonating Cyrus. Hearing him yell "let us make a stand, comrades!" destroyed me.

I finished at about level 36, so quite a way to cap. You probably could get there without too much pain if you do all the Gang Operations and Survival challenges. The latter in particular earn you absurd amounts of respect, especially if you do them with a rocket launcher or grenades and blow up the cars filled with police/gangs in one go.

Regarding the ending, I assume you mean because
you could have let all your friends die to go after Killbane?
I dunno, that ending didn't seem like canon to me ;)

Sprint is The Awesome Button. Hold it down when you do stuff and it modifies the move, for example you do takedowns by sprinting and meleeing.

What is the story point that makes assassinations impossible? The last mission I did was at about 50~ish % titled

. Which was a crazy awesome mission.

Alright you fucking unicorn, you're going down.

Pretty sure people mean
when martial law is declared, as you can't trigger the targets appearing because of the mayhem.
The mission which prompts it involves
defending Saints HQ from the military and police, as distinct from the earlier one where it gets overrun with armed hookers.

It's not that
certain targets require you to get gang notoriety up. If you already own the area that that's in, you can't really do that

Get your notoriety up in another area, drive there, get attacked by the gang, draw out the target?

Hey just wondering if I can get the jet right away, or if I have to wait for it to unlock at X% into the game?

Not being able to play right now is killing me. I can't wait for this!

You get that particular jet about halfway through the main story.

Yeah, I hit level 50 right at the last mission, but I didn't do a good portion of the sidequests. The main thing I focused on for respect gain was
Levelling the strongholds. Those really boost your respect bonus percentage.

Regarding the ending, I assume you mean because

Oh, I agree, but in that case,
why include it? Some of the choices in this game made sense like keeping/destroying the Syndicate building, but some of them, such as this one and the one with keeping the zombie weapon for zombie homies, seems kinda forced/contrived to me.

In any case, with the Saints being in the position that they are, what's left to stop them/next for them to challenge in SR4?

Nealand Liquor said:
Hmmmm, so there are others I can get right away?
Either way that's pretty awesome. I wanna pull some seriously f'd up crap in that jet.

The first assassination target teaches you where the airport is, so you can go there and grab planes almost immediately. There's also a crib at the airport which unlocks some.

I know what you mean about the choices, there were only a couple which I struggled with for any length of time and they were the ones which had rewards which seemed properly balanced against one another. As far as the ending, Pearce said it best;
"yo man, fuck Killbane!"
To be honest, I'd say that the main reason is just so that you have a reason to replay the mission, since it stays in your quest log.

SR4 could be incredible if it's about the Saints taking over America politically. US politics right now is a goldmine for satire, if SR4 was about them moving to the equivalent of Washington D.C. and putting the leader up for president the missions practically write themselves. Discrediting, murdering and crippling the opposition, starting fights at teabagger rallies... oh man.

The driving in this game is so much better than Saints 2. They really nailed the motorcycles, it's so much fun racing about, weaving through traffic.

Mixed with the awesome button for getting quickly into vehicles - bliss. :]

I just gotta say that this is the craziest game I've played this year. I love the Genki SEC program thingie challenge. Also I've been assassinating people with my tank all day long :D

Man, this game starts slow, gameplay-wise.

Two out of the first three missions are essentially shooting galleries followed by turret sequences.

hehe it suits my play style. First thing I've done is drive around and identify all city points that are question marks and buy all property thats less then 1000 dollars.

oh the game does have a weird day night cycle..i think its really really long..left the game on when I crashed to get some cash woke up a few hrs later and checked out game and it was night without doing any missions or anything .

Thats kind of a letdown.

It really is. You finally get through the same activities you've been playing since SR1, real missions start coming, and the game abruptly ends. Any potential gangs or characters have are wasted by the lack of missions involving them.

The lack of mission replays is annoying. SR2 had it, why remove it? Do they not want us remembering how many missions are "meet here for a cutscene" or poorly disguised activities?

Decided to side step all the AMD card issues, and went with the 360 version.

Kmart is having a buy one get one half off so I went with two games that are polar opposites of each other LOL:

This game is so much fun! It does have a few issues, but transcends its faults because you can tell Volition is really going for it, which is great.

The game's pacing and sense of humor is so weird.....love it!*

*- This is my first Saint's Row game, btw.

Thats kind of a letdown.

Yeah, it's really disappointing. It's still a good game but it has to be my biggest disappointment of the year. They improved some things and improved them well but a lot of other things just feel like a huge step back from SR2. They should have been able to do more in 3 years. I just hope the game isn't so skimpy because they were holding things back for DLC.

edit: for the above post, if you like SR3 do yourself a favor and get SR2. It's pretty cheap and I think you can get SR1 and 2 in the same package. SR2 is easily the best in the series and one of my favorite games of the genre.

Awesome thanks!
There is just something about jets/planes in sandbox games I can't get enough of. In GTA:SA I swear I spent more time in the stunt plane just trying to do insane stuff than I did actually playing the game. From the moment I saw that gif I quoted I knew I was going to buy this game.

Hate that people compare the driving in Saints to GTAIV, they both have great handling, they're polar opposites but they both do each side really well. There is a place for both.

I never understood the hate for IV's driving. Sure there was a steep learning curve but once I got the hang of it I really enjoyed the driving. Being able to bomb around the city full out & taking tight corners at high speeds was very rewarding due to the skill that was involved.

Your three mission packs include:

Genkibowl VII (Scheduled to be available January 2012) - The Wide World of Genki takes over Steelport for a sporting tradition totally and utterly unlike any other.

Gangstas in Space (Scheduled to be available Winter 2012) - The Saints go intergalactic in this science-fiction misadventure.

The Trouble With Clones (Scheduled to be available Spring 2012) - Copy-cat killing at its finest.

I think a DLC pack every 2 months for 6 months counts as holding back. I'm glad I got the free season pass for ordering from THQ.

Yeah, that's a shame. I'm going to pass on the DLC for this. Just not enough main game to keep me interested. If there's ever a game of the year edition released I'll get that when it gets cheap.

It's kind of crazy that this game has one of the most meaningful end-game choices out there. I really recommend you try the alternate mission --
it's a bummer
, but the way it plays out, it feels like the canon ending. And it's awesome.

ah man shes hot!

Did AMD release any drivers to fix the issues yet? last ones I see are from the 15th but no mention of any sr3 related fixes.

This is the fourth time this year ati/amd have fucked me on drivers, I remember when rage released I couldn't play for a week, ati never again.

I just started the campaign in co-op and played for a few hours, had a blast. The amount of customization options regarding your character and cars is pretty insane.

FWIW I liked GTA 1 and 2, didn't really enjoy 3 that much and never bothered with the later entries. I got SR3 because of the co-op and its complete lack of seriousness. I just don't think that serious storytelling and this kind of insane free-form action go well together.

Yeah, it's a weird thing. I love the so much about it so far (about 50%), but a few things seem to have been left out that are bugging the hell out of me. Mainly no mission replay. And I want my sock options back, damn it. It is definitely better than 2 in how it controls though, and it looks much better too. It's like 2 had all the cool shit but was a bit janky, and this one is smoother but missing some features. Mix the two and it would be glorious.

Although there isn't new drivers there is a new application profile released yesterday which does this:
Saints Row 3: Resolves stuttering seen when playing in CrossFireX mode. Also provides Single GPU and CrossFireX performance improvements when running in lower resolution configurations

It doesn't really get any better than that. You spend the majority of each mission just gunning down endless amounts of enemies.

That's how time in-between missions is spent as well.

Wish there was some orb-collecting and superpowers to attain. This game feels more like Crackdown now.

It's the game. You shoot down a lot of people.

Think of upgrades as street-level superpowers, up until level 45 or so. From then on nothing can hurt you, which I personally find great. (SR2 also felt like a superhero game to me, honestly, since you could get amazing upgrades from doing activities.)

Played the Trey 360 version at a buddy's house last night. Pretty disappointing. I thought SR2 was crazy over-the-top in a good way, comparatively SR3 is crazy over-the-top in a bad way. The first 20 minutes were so action-packed that it actually became boring. I thought when the game actually started things would be better but nope, boring shooting gallery shit. Could Steelport be any more dull? Shame.

Can't you always do it the easy way? Store target vehicle in garage, accept vehicle theft contract, retrieve car from garage, deliver to chop shop. I don't recall you getting any police heat if you snag it from your garage.

I'm finding it impossible to link my PC account with the character site. At first I was having some trouble getting into this game. It was kind of a drag. But once I got further in and more and more of the activities opened up I became addicted. It's amazing that SR3 has kept me from touching Skyrim for two consecutive nights. Yesterday I meant to only play one or two missions and the next thing I knew it was 4AM. "Just one more."

Angel De La Muerte quest spoiler (the quests he sends you on to toughen you up):

Try a different browser maybe? I was having trouble earlier but now i'm all linked up, but the problem i'm having now is I can't see the screenshots I uploaded. I click on the screenshots tab and nothing happens. Anyone have a similar issue?

I figured. Thanks for the update.

They need a lot of fixing to do there. No search bar is a bummer for the custom characters. I ended up just clicking through tags people made. Found this bad boy:
