Been watching some streams and you know what? Fuck it, it looks good and the positive impressions outweigh the negatives - gonna preorder now to get that sweet £1.50 off. Trusting all you guys' praise for Ska here! If it's better than LotF, it's alright by me.

I really like the look of the castlevania-y aspects, too.

Ludwig as in Ludwig from The Old Hunters?
But he was....easy as hell. Only The Living Failures are easier. Now Orphan of Kos....ffffuuuuuuck.

I actually thought the last boss of the dlc was the easiest.

I felt the same. Ludwig gave me a shitload of trouble.

Anyone knows if there are weapons that drop from bosses tails? Like Seath or Kalameet?
I only saw one boss from Salt so i have no idea what is coming my way in 48 minutes.

The magic of Soulsborne. What's hard for one, is easy as piss for another. Praise the Salt.

Good question don't quote me, but I believe they drop weapons or at least an item to build something.. I can be wrong tho.

I can search this on AU PSN, but no purchase or pre order button appears. Is it in limbo due to being so close to release?

I believe so. Should be up soon.

So torn on this... I want it but I'm preoccupied with The Division at the moment and will probably be up until DS3 comes out.

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
I followed this game for a year... I need this, but not right now, unfortunately.

It's been live for 50 minutes in France. The game seems good so far, the level design is quite interconnected.
It might change but it feels easy, and the first boss was a joke.
I really like it, hope it won't shit the bed later on.

Been playing this for the last few days. (My total playtime in the menu shows 16:06:19 so far). I didn't get any weapons from bosses tails, etc. but from their drops, you can create weapons. By the way some impressions (Since there is no embargo for the reviews):

-Combat is very brutal, though it feels a bit repetetive by now. And i think it is because of the difficulty, since i put so many points to strenght and two handed my Kureimoa (Claymore) and went commando (seriously, speed is important (Not really, my underwear is so awesome)) i am having no problems with enemies at all.
-Game is huge. Seriously... I mean for its price, it is really huge. There are so many areas, bosses, enemies and items.
- Art direction is nice.
- All of the areas are connected to each other. Just think of Souls series.
- Game feels like a Soulsvania something. (As you kill more bosses, you get some new abilities so you can go back to some of the areas which you couldn't enter).

Sorry if i sounded a bit ridicilious but i have been playing it for 5 hours straight and was taking notes for my review so i am a bit tired.

are starting classes like souls games in the sense that they just affect what you start with and have no real long term meaning?

Looks pretty kewl, but man, that human face design is abhorrent. I honestly can't tell you how much I hate it.

Praise the helm.

This post has me a little cautious.

Beat it last night. I really wanted to love this game. Here' some of my many complaints.

  • The game is impressively long for an indie, but it feels far too long
  • Incoherent world design
  • Repetitive combat
  • Most enemies can be beaten by mashing fast attack with maybe a roll
  • The bosses are absolutely terrible. If their not insanely easy they're very cheap
  • The game just feels hard for the sake of being hard
  • Cheap Deaths with even some traps later that instantly kill you with noway to avoid them
  • The checkpoint system gets baaaaad
  • Inconsistent messy art

Game started out pretty well for the first 3-5 hours. It's shame that the quality in many places takes such a dip

It just feels unoriginal. Dark Souls series fanatics will cringe at how much it takes. Even the NPC's can be exact copies of the DS one in looks, and character. It also doesn't help that the story feels like they tried really hard to make it a philosophical dark game. It tries to even tell the Story in DS fashion with item descriptions, NPC's etc, but the Lore is very boring, uninteresting, incoherent.

If you're really wanting that DS fix a little early with Dark Souls 3 just a mere month away I say just wait
. Their is enough content here to justify the 18$ price tag, but the problem is that the content is poor.

I hate being the bearer of bad news, but i want to save some Gaffers money, and the pain of disappointment.

Dark Salts.

Played for 25 minutes so far and I'm enjoying it, although I've started as a knight and the combat is pretty simplistic at the moment. Parrying enemies feels so damn satisfying though. Made it to (what I assume is) the first boss and died. Bastard stole all my salt.

Edit: I also wish you could modify the controls. I find that block and roll being mapped to the triggers is a bit awkward and I'd like to move them to L1 and R1.

I've beaten the first boss on first try but I'm getting wrecked by a simple ennemy with a sword and a shield, because I keep mismanaging my stamnia bar...

At the first boss... Is there a way to heal up quickly? I have red shards, but they may as well not be healing me at all.

Each religion has a different healing item similar to an Estus Flask, they refill/regenerate every time you visit a Sanctuary. If you visit a Sanctuary of a different religion yours will change to theirs. You start off with 3 I think.

Going to try and play this for about an hour tonight(finals tomorrow). Really excited after watching Peeve play it on stream, the devs are cool too.
