Interesting to hear how polar opposite Pat's view on devastation was to the rest. I can see where he's coming from though. Environments seem bland and the game is rather short... but gameplay is there and that's always good :)

Its boring when everyone agrees on something. Its fun how they can disagree on universally praised games like Pat with Undertale and Transformers and Matt with MGSV.

God damn FF XIV video is making me want to start up again. That game was sooo much fun.

You know what you need to do.

#TeamLalafellSucks is waiting for you brother.

I would have to see if I can get some of my other friends to play. FF 14 is a lot of fun, but the reason I even started to pay MMO's is to play with my friends.

My FC is really lonely now.

Game's story has been good enough to where I honestly would rather do the missions on my own and watch the cutscenes. I've had a lot of fun with it SP, while using the DF for any dungeons.

Though I could imagine that having friends definitely helps. Plenty of people on GAF play the game as well (and maybe you could even get into Pat's FC somehow).

Pat justified himself in terms of the context of what lead him to feeling how he did for undertale and Matts opinion basically falls into line with how a huge portion of the fan base feels right now. It's cool when the podcast isn't just an echo chamber. Which isn't that often really.

I can see where Pat is coming from with Transformers but I don't agree. The level design and content is lacking but the game is basically a budget title. And like many platinum games it's only a 5 hour experience if you let it be. There's loads of difficulty, weapons, challenge and character variety and the combat is fun as hell. I love transformers and had my expectations in check for what it was going to deliver as an experience. Budget plat fun with a nice transformers coat of paint.

The franchise certainly has something to do with, since I care a great deal more about Metal Gear than I do about Transformers - I basically bought it to support Platinum.

But I beat it in like 6 hours on Hard and have zero desire to go back to it. Without nostalgia or real connection to the source material, Platinum Combat porn can only take me so far. Not to mention that for such a micro-management intensive game the menus are a disgrace.

Late to reply to this, but I don't get that. After one playthrough you're not getting more Metal Gear out of a replay. You get codecs and more of the same thing you just experienced. If you're not going off Platinum combat porn then there's virtually no reason to return to any of their games. I enjoy Wonderful 101, but when I replay it I'm not going back mostly for the wonderful ones. I'm going back because it's fun. I don't have much nostalgia for Transformers, but a replay of a character action game is usually meant for the purpose of fun gameplay and the source material has little to do with it. And sure, I'll agree the menus for weapons, feeding them to each other, the TEC you can barely sort through, and all that is not great.

He sounded like he came from the position of a person who doesn't usually play character action and it was super weird considering he talked about the value it lacked even though he denied himself that value. He complained after he overpaid with his Canadian loonies money, played through the game on Normal difficulty which is the equivalent of Easy, got a "good" hammer by chance, steamrolled the game with it on "Normal," didn't touch the challenges or other difficulties, and then declared it was a horrible value after uninstalling it. I'd be bummed about it too if I didn't touch the other 66% of the game.

It was also weird how it seemed like he didn't understand the weapon system. He complained about what seemed like Prime's default Axe did no damage on the final bosses, but a Rank C hammer or whatever it was did better? Of course it did? He also complained about Wheeljacks or someones default weapons which I also didn't get because who cares about the default weapons. Then more complaining about how they try to make you stick to a character, but all characters level up with you so you aren't locked to a character at all. Calling all the bosses the same was also just weird to me.

Yup that's always been the argument for most platinum and character action games in general though. It is pretty weird that Pat of all people is making that argument about content lacking, since he's played more than enough good action games (like Revengeance) to know how much replayability and extras these games have.

Though it does suck that he unfortunately got an insanely good weapon too early on. I personally would have just put it away if it was breaking the balance of the game, but it shouldn't have dropped in the first place.

I might just be assuming, but he made it sound like he only really tried out the default Prime Axe with pitiful attack power versus a hammer which had maybe 1000 damage? So about 5x more damage or more? That hammer would of especially done fuck all on the Hard difficulty which he still decided to not bump up to after playing through most of the game with little problems. I also think it's dumb that after Revengeance did the Very Easy, Easy, Normal, Hard thing as defaults he still chose Normal. I don't see an excuse for that besides saying, but it's supposed to be normal tho.

To be fair I think Transformers normal is harder than Revengeance normal. Enemy encounters were fine on Transformers hard mode, but the bosses were real tough and taking almost damage. Devestator gave me a lot of trouble on hard so I had to switch to normal.

I think Bayo 2 and MGR should both definitely be played on Hard for character action fans, but I think with Transformers being harder than both of those, and with Liam and Woolie telling him that Normal is the way to go for a first playthrough, is what pushed him to play normal and he didn't care enough to go through again on hard.

The only reason Devastator is hard is because he's before you get any weapons. Once you open up the Ark then the bosses become less spongey. I think Hard is the regular Platinum Normal experience overall. I don't remember them telling him to play on Normal either. Was that a throwaway line in the one off? If so then they fucked up.

It was either at the end of the one off or during last week's podcast. I finished chapter 2 the other day and am enjoying the hell out of it so I'll definitely give it another go on hard at the least.

Yeah that is bizarre to me. You'd think with his history of MMO's he'd understand weapon drops and damage scaling. I never got the feeling they intended me as the player to stick to a single character. On my first run I changed up every time I hit an ark because I thought that's what the game wanted me to do plus variety is nice.

With Undertale I get where he is coming from because I feel similarly. Not so much with Transformers though as it feels like he went out his way to remove all value from the experience and then blame the game for it.

In the middle of this Transformers talk and christ Pat, so many of his complaints are based off 4 HOURS OF PLAYING THE GAME.

A PLATINUM GAME.

I was telling him on Twitter that I will agree that the price for the game is a bit much for what it offers, but the other stuff he's so off base on it's ridiculous.

Edit: Oh my god I love Mike Z

Pat: "The game's 120 hours long."

Mike: "So?"

Yeah, I loved that quick reaction from Mike.

Also, I doubt anyone beating Transformers in 4 hours started on hard difficulty.

I loved Mike Z's call out regarding watching alternate endings on Youtube.

I like to feel ownership of my decisions in games, and the ending feels like an extension of my immersion. Watching alternate endings muddles my mental image of the story and devalues the effort I placed in the journey.

Just how my mind works, absolutely no issue if others like to do it.

Damn, Pat's opinion on Devastation is pretty brutal. I can see where he's coming from with most of the complaints, though. The game's really unbalanced loot system shouldn't be there.

ok guys i want an answer when i wake up
gonna start Zestiria soon alongside the Witcher 3 DLC after i beat the Dead Space 3 DLC
Dub or Sub?

Tales of games usually have fairly decent dubs with the exception of Milla's annoying lisp in Xillia 1 (which was fixed in 2).

I can't say much for Zestiria though since I haven't played it.

Just bought the new Blazblue Chrono Phantasma PS4 edition. Best be next FNF BRING IT.

Blazblue is right there with Ultimax of games they're never gonna play.

The way vessel works with unlisting the premium videos is pretty weird. Both of todays videos are already viewable for regular people if anyone cares. I hope the Shitstorm is good at least. I haven't seen any talk about this particular episode.

Spoilers for this nights shitstorm
Oh good, skipping the intro that is just a remake of Nightmare House 1 and is a pretty good intro. Good decision. Great. Perfect. Burn this channel down to the ground.

Blazblue will happen before Ultimax.

As a character action game, yeah, I'd appreciate a well designed weapon system like every other character action game versus the loot. The loot is not without its benefits though when it can be unbalanced in the best way. Feeding a ton of bullshit to upgrade a hammer and getting it to 23k damage like Liam's SS hammer? It can be pretty gold. You'd think Pat would enjoy a game with practically built in cheating.

Pat only wants hardcore cheating
none of this softcore stuff

This shitstorm in general is the first time in a long time Matt has been on the controls for so long. I am relearning that watching Matt play anything is the worst. Tonight's shitstorm just feels dreadful to me from watching Matt play games.

"What's jump again?"

Edit- Skimmed through the Plague Letters even though I never watch Plague content. His inability to handle fighting game combos or combos in general seems like a plague thing.

Anyone know why the Friendcast is being reupped?

Do you mean on itunes? It isn't showing up for some people so Woolie decided to reupload it because itunes is weird about shit sometimes.

"I wish Apple would list a reason why these things happen, but they never do. In the past, this has only happened once or twice, usually due to bad language in the metadata, or copyrighted music in the file. So it's likely due to the first 10 seconds of the outro music. Gonna republish and see what happens, but this is why we can't have nice things. Like Peaches and Cream."

You'll get a Saturday Morning Scrublords BlazBlue episode where they ridicule all the characters except Haku-man, Bang, and Azreal and you'll enjoy it.

Are you talking about the Alien or Working Joes? Cause Working Joes are slow as fuck so you dont even need to sneak past them. As for the Alien crouching basically makes you dead silent so he wont drop down and hunt you

I've been on an undertale LP addiction since I finished the game and the 2BF one started. And since it takes a few days before each ep, i've been watching almost every big youtuber one.

Game Grumps and Cry ones aren ice (Game Grumps does amazing voices. Cry is nice although his "soothing low voice for absolutely everything" kinda gets reaaaaally cheesy and out of place sometimes too. It's nice to see him lose his shit at the neutral ending boss though)

My favourite one is Dodger's tho. She personifies each character and gets so much into it. Plus she recently finished it and it's archived on twitch
