Bro I don't understand throwing away 20 years of history
Playstation headquarters is no longer in Japan, that's an interesting change.
Kind of crazy actually. Can't ever imagine MS or Nintendo moving control outside their home countries.
This is probably a good thing for western consumers though hopefully it doesn't lead to power becoming too concentrated in the US. Unlike most I think the decentralised structure of SCE was one of its major strengths in building a global brand.

This may sound conspiratorial but the word video game is going to be "under siege" over the next couple years and this is one of the signs of it. VR is what will do this. IT IS the next medium. It's the real deal. Hollywood and the general tech world are advancing onto the "video game" turf with VR, and they are going to do their damnedest to distance themselves from the word video games. Since gamers have such a hard time allowing things that don't fit their preconceived notions of "game" on their definition it only pushed the distancing ever further. You are going to see "experiences". Hell you are going to see what we would normally call games get called something else simply due to the fact that they are developed for VR by multidisciplinary teams. Maybe it's not the worst thing in the world. Maybe eventually everything will just be "interactive".

I wish I understood what this meant.
So SCE is no longer segregated by regions, please no more region locked DLC and allow us to change the region of our account, people move around, this is 2016!
I wish I understood what this meant.
I dont understand much of buisness, so I wonder how this is received in Japan and if it changes anything for the brand there.

I wonder if this means that PS4 OS development and PSN infrastructure will now be developed in the US.
Key corporate strategies of SIE are: retain and expand PlayStation user engagement, increase Average Revenue Per Paying Users (ARPPU) and drive ancillary revenue. SIE will vigorously expand the PlayStation business by delivering an integrated experience built around best-in-class games and network services to consumers worldwide.
Furthermore, as the Game and Network Service segment within Sony Group, SIE will work on expanding sales and operating income, and continue to target 1,400 to 1,600 billion yen for sales, and 5 percent to 6 percent operating income margin for the Fiscal Year ending March 2018.
For us it really doesn't mean anything. It's more for Sony and following Kaz's main goal, which is to unify Sony. They were pretty well known for having a bunch of different branches that acted completely on their own, even if they had the same goals. So that's what this is trying to change.

Better network incoming?
We got a new acronym for Neogaf to adopt in sales threads.
whoa easy there cowboy
Holy shit!
Software team headquartered in NA???
Yes!!! PSN 2.0 believe!!!
I thought they already did away with that in theory when they put everyone under worldwide studios a year or two ago
This should have happened at the beginning of this generation.
I think that ship sailed a long time ago. The PSN is probably a clusterfuck of bad decisions/design choices. They most likely have to burn it with fire and rebuild it from the ashes to get a proper network going (which could've been done with the PS4 launch but not 2 years into the generation).Holy shit!

Well, as long as it doesnt change relationship to the japanese gaming industry... still feels weird on first thought. Imagine Microsoft suddenly being chinese.Sony brand isn't strong nowadays in Japan so I doubt this change anything
Is ARPPU Sony's answer to MAU?

MAU vs ARPPU
No, every region is managed by a different sub-division.
Yeah but I thought they put all those subdivisions under WWS a year or two ago.
PSN is on AWS, it's not managed in Japan.
So Sony merged their studios. Nintendo merged EAD and SPD to form EPD last September. What's Microsoft gonna do?
Holy shit!
