Shadowrun Returns |OT| Never, ever cut a deal with a dragon.

Man, just seeing basic stats for an Ares Predator gives me tingles.

Guess my inner Shadowrun fanboy is stronger than I expected. Its been so damn long.

3 hours in I'd say hard is a good spot for the difficulty. The fights have been pushing me to use proper cover, put some thought into who I take out first, where my guys are and rewards cautious play.

With almost 25,000 concurrent players on Steam right now I guess it's safe to say this is selling A LOT.

*fingers crossed*

Here, I made a screenshot. What do the crosshairs mean?

*edit* I was wrong, the stat screen doesn't seem to tell you your total HP anywhere, just your current HP.

I'm also now getting the audio stutter occasionally, especially when loading a model, weird. And I wonder why the character model isn't cached all the time. It has to load every time you open the PDA screen.

I believe those 'crosshairs' are ley lines for mages

Would I be able to run this game on my crappy Laptop?

I need definitely manual saves, and i wasn't very happy with the few customization options for my character. Hope we get mods for the latter soon. Oh and i would also like to zoom in a bit moore.

Other than that it's great! I really like that it seems to be quite story heavy (only played like 1 1/2 hours or so.)

Magic leylines if I remember correctly. Magic is more potent on them.
Ah, ok! I wondered about that too.

Or people have unlocked their kickstarter keys?
Do you mean these 36,000 backers in total? If you apply the "10% rule" they become essentially statistically irrelevant.
Unless you are under this gigantic delusion that pretty much every single Kickstarter backer activated his serial key in real time as he received it and now they are all playing the game at the same time.

It is very disappointing that that is as far as you can zoom in.

Really, the quality of the art is fine for what it is I don't understand why they won't let me get closer.

Oblige this man, HBS. We the people need wall porn.

Answering my own question, the overwatch ability seems to become available at about 4 points on at least some weapon skill chains. And since Dennis is posting fullsize screenshots outside of quotes, here, I will post one too. I like the art style.

To be honest, people that fund a game are probably more likely to play it a while on the first day than your average buyer, so it will be a bit more than 10% i think.
Still it seems to sell really good, which is great.

It's also been the top seller on Steam the past couple days, so they seem to be gathering some decent revenue.

No way to read the full description until you buy the item and you can't save/load on this either. Granted, there's probably only a little text not visible, but it's still a serious flaw.

Man, this game is pretty! I'm only about an hour into it so far, but I'm generally really digging the tone and writing. But yeah, same complaints as everybody else in terms of no ability to freely save and linear levelled structure over more free roaming as you usually see in these games.

Far Cry 3 peaked at 20k and that game sold really well. I'm not saying that this is selling/will sell more than FC3, but it bodes well.

yeah but FC3 is not steam exclusive on PC and is also on the consoles, also a very demanding game hardware wise.

Still 25k nothing to sneeze at.

Was that supposed to be witty. That anyone who calls a troll stupid is no longer living?

Its sortof funny but it could have been worded better I think.

Just started it, and man while really like the art and systems thus far, the save system is dreadful. I wouldn't mind an autosave system if it was reasonable and autosaved after every encounter or so, but man I just lost 40ish mins of playtime because I have to go to work and there was no spot for me to trigger an auto save in sight.

Bleh. Hope modders can fix this.

yep, needs a save after every battle function instead of leaving an area. Pretty crappy.

This is awesome.

Played for a bit. Seems like a game made by great artists, fantastic composers, good game designers and writers, and ... programmers. To be fair, maybe there were just far too few of the latter compared to the former.

It somehow managed to suffer from intermittent audio stuttering during loading and lag in the friggin' options menu. Also, I can't say I'm a fan of the UI.

Haha, I noticed the options lag too. I was confused and quit to run D3DOverrider, but the same thing happens. Not caching the player model for the inventory is more confusing to me though.

At least I think ingame it uses a hardware cursor, so there's no cursor lag that I noticed (though I was using D3DOverrider anyway).

It looks like a couple of people were reporting bugs where if they crashed or alt-F4'd because something froze, their save file(s) were gone. Apparently it does not actually save to disk when it says it does. The really odd thing is that I have been going through a Process Monitor log and trying to figure out where in the world the autosaves go, and I can't find them anywhere. There are some Unity cache files, but surely they wouldn't put the autosave data there...

Config data seems minimal and is in the registry rather than a config file. There is a DevMode setting but when I tried setting it to 1 it flipped back to 0.

OK, this no manual save thing is way more annoying than I thought. Other than that, the game looks promising so far. I still find it hard to judge what does how much damage in battle though and especially how distance to enemies and their cover correlates to hit chance.

Played it now for 3 hours and I am really enjoying it. It's pretty well written, and I am actually having fun with all the dialog stuff. That is something a lot of RPGs get wrong these days. I count this as a successful Kickstarter. Hope the others I supported will turn out good as well. I actually get to see Wasteland 2 at Gamescom so then I might already get a good feel on that one...

What's up with the Mac performance? Runs great on my PC, runs like absolute shit on my Mac :(

Runs totally fine on my iMac. (1080p, HD textures and with AA)

There should be a hit percentage above the enemies.

I really want to find out where the autosaves go if there's a chance a freeze could lose them. I just froze in the shop screen after changing into new armor. Even shift-tab for the Steam overlay did not work. I alt tabbed and came back and things started working, but for a minute it was entirely frozen.

Also is there any way to change outfits with something from your stash? Right after I bought it, it gave me the (potentially freezing) dialog to do it, but now when I talk to the shopkeeper and look at my stash, there is no option to equip anything from it. Actually, I can't figure out how to get items from my stash into my inventory. Am I missing something?
