Oh, awesome, this thread is way meltdownier now!

Somehow, TSA has managed to take all the heat off of me, even though he didn't actually write an official review.

Just as keikaku.

That opening line of your review is awesome, btw. :p

Having your sword go 9 directions? How is that not possible?

Fighting games have goddamn hundreds of moves mapped to the same analog stick, yet somehow you think that 9 sword attacks are impossible?

The main point is you can not replicate SS exactly with a standard controller.

You use fighitng games as an example? How the fuck are you going to move in 3 dimensional space?

Rising? You literally have to pause the gameflow in order to set what direction you want to slash.

Something like fight night? WHOO you can't use your thumbs for buttons anymore.

Your argument is just so goddamn fucking stupid

I don't count those as Zelda games.

I'm going off of console releases.
hmm... Humor me for a second.

You say you trust him because your tastes are very close when it comes to Zelda. Yet, you go as far as refuse to acknowledge some of the Series' games for one reason or another. But he, on the other hand, not only acknowledges them, but also thinks quite highly of them.

So what makes you think your tastes are close again?

It's not possible to have (most of) Skyward Sword's controls on a regular controller.
It's not.
Stop saying it is.
Because it's not.
OK?
Good.

What about doing something like dead island's controls? Using the analog sticks and triggers?

I haven't played either game, just thinking about what ive heard

Fighting game moves are...

1. Not mapped to an analog stick. Arcade sticks are digital and only have eight directions.
2. Canned and not precisely controlled. Down->Down-forward->Forward + punch will lead to one of three variants of Shoryuken, based on which punch button you used.
3. Restricted to a single plane.

Slash attacks in Skyward sword have a full 360 degree range of motion in any direction. The sword's position when not swinging is also very directly controlled. You could try doing that with an analog stick or mouse a la Die by the Sword, but you'd be sacrificing a lot of other stuff, and it would still not be able to do all of the same things.

There's 3d fighters you know, right? Soul Calibur?

Okay, I was wrong about how Rising works.

I didn't even mention fight night.

It's really not fucking stupid, you're just so desperate for absolutely everyone in the world to approve of the controls so that you can validate liking them yourself.

The overall goal of the motion controls was to have a deep combat system, they chose to do this by having a simon says minigame pertaining to each enemy. That specific minigame may not be easily replicated by classic controls, but the overall idea of a deep combat system IS, as evidenced by the numerous games that probably have DEEPER combat mechanics.

Just watched the IGN video review.

Woho Rich, that's a lot you say. Best Wii game, best Zelda game of all time. Landmark in Nintendo Games.

Can't wait!

I am finding it funny the number of people either complaining about his review or complaining about people complaining about his review, cause from my perspective the whole thing with TSA is just business as usual.
It's pretty much people who are putting his opinion on a pedestal and people who are annoyed that his opinions are constantly being put on a pedestal.

So you trust TSA's opinions on Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass too? Cause he ranks those games 9/10
He also hyped up Twilight Princess to be the best thing ever in his review. Saying that it " is the new standard not only in The Legend of Zelda, but the standard in Nintendo's franchises." He emphasises how the story kicks ass and is a revolution of Zelda storylines. He says the game is full of minigames and sidequets. And he loves the soundtrack and the sound quality.

You see what I'm trying to say? Twilight Princess is widely regarded as one of the weaker Zelda's today; he is not only calling it the best game of the franchise, but he also praises it for things that are commonly referred to as the biggest weakpoints of the game. Aka a weak story with forgettable characters, the lack of sidequests and minigames, bad sound-quality etc.

And this is the person who's opinion on SS stands above all? Even though his previous reviews missed the point for most people? Not even to mention that TSA was always negative about SS, long before release.

This might sound like a personal vendetta against TSA, but this really isn't what I was trying to write. I respect him and I don't want to offend him on a personal level in any way, I'm just a little puzzled.

You can't have it both ways. They are indeed full fledged Zelda games.
Sure I can. I don't like those games. I didn't like how they played, it immediately disconnected me from them. So I didn't force myself to play them.

They may be full Zelda games, but they're not the same as the console releases. At all.

OoT, MM, TWW, TP is a larger sample size than those two games that took a radically different approach to controlling Link.

So last night while I was up with you guys shitting over these reviews, somebody a floor below me got shot by three masked robbers.

Apartment building behind the news anchor is where I live. And to think I was afraid of getting banned.

You're moving a goddamn sword in real time and space. You can't do that on a dual-analog pad. Period.

that doesn't seem right, I can't say how much of an issue no true overworld will have, but it seems you rushed through the game. Nintendo directly said the game is 50+ hours, and you say 35.
Companies never lie about this shit

If you are not a lunatic fan following an agenda you should read TSA review.

Most of the time i dont agree with him, but i most admit he has made the most comprehensive and informative review for veterans of the seires.

Too bad all my fears regarding the overworld and the "tears" quests are validated. Nintendo should abandone that bad habit acquired with Wind Waaker once and for all.

The rest of the game seems really good.

The fuck? How didn't you hear that shit? Or did you? Should have given us a live report man!

Seriously, though, that's nuts.

Plenty of his points are subjective if just because you haven't played the fucking game. You consistently attempt to directly attack every single opinion he expresses on the game, belittling his stance with a snide, condescending attitude, throwing around phrases like "factually wrong" for content, again, you haven't experienced. The shtick got tiresome a long time ago. If the only way you can engage in discussion with him is through hostile, aggressive behaviour, then you need to stop replying to him and discussing his opinions at all.
I feel bad for you not being able to just put him on ignore and be done with it. You have my condolences.

i like how a 35 hour game is you rushing it.
To be perfectly honest with you, I finished the game in under 30. I am, however, a bit of a Zelda savant. Some other guy said it took him 87 hours.

Wow, any guess as to why it happened or just a random home invasion?

I heard the commotion but I didn't hear the gunshots. I have no idea how. Maybe they were using silencers or something. Pretty sure I heard them barreling down the stairs though after the incident. I didn't think anything of it, people get drunk and are loud quite frequently so it's easy to chalk it up to that.

When I left this morning there were some maintenance dudes working down there but again it's nothing I really thought into. I talked to some people in the office, they said the guy was shot but that the injuries were pretty minor.
