Kondo has said that his main inspiration for the theme was Ravel's "Bolero". If I remember correctly, they actually wanted to use Bolero as the theme, but couldn't for copyright reasons. The inspiration from Bolero can easily be heard in the Zelda theme, especially in the rhythm.
Hey, that's a cool tidbit of info. Thanks.

And yes, the meter of the music are very much alike.

This review thread is almost 20 times larger than the skyrim review thread. That's pretty crazy, what's up with the huge difference? :P

Halo 3 was pretty awesome. I could see it being scored that high if it had elites to shoot in the campaign...but alas, nuttin but brutes.

Same. That whole game was pure joy. the whole fucking thing. Yes even the Triforce quest.

I LOVED sailing. I almost never used the warp song. Skyward Sword has been amazing so far, but I would take quite a bit (and an absolutly stunning finale) to have me put it above WW.

Huh interesting...that beginning part sounds eeringly similar to some of the Skyward Sword music.

Actually yeah I'm pretty positive I've heard that music in the previews

Mind blown. I HATE Bolero with a passion. It's just a big build up to a payoff that never comes.

well elder scrolls always was a bit hokey and neesh pc centric games. i think it gained alot do fans with oblivion, skyrim is the first game to hit mass market. Zelda by contrast has a massive fanbase with 25 years of expectation and hype trains, it snot a surpise it would have a bigger thread :P

This is an OT thread disguised as a review thread, that's why.

Amazing.

It's really not great. I listen to those cutscenes and just wish they would shut up. FF XII's VO was better.
FFXII has a great VO lineup, but the recording quality is abysmal. I don't know if it's due to compression or what, but everyone sounds like they're talking into a cell phone in a room with terrible acoustics.

Hasn't this thread been out for like 20 days and the Skyrim thread was put up this morning?

"What Skyrim threads can learn from Zelda"

If Zelda SS gets a 10 from IGN, i can see this IGN sentence becoming a running gag.

"What Zelda can learn from Skyrim"

Cause apparently Zelda fans on Neogaf invest a lot of thought into what others think of the games regardless of how personal-taste factors in.

Me? I simply don't give a fuck :P
Only here cause I feel like I don't have to worry about hardcore spoilers here.

This review thread is also 20 days older than the Skyrim review thread.

Huh, I wasn't really in to Wind Waker's music when I first played it. I like its music, but except a few pieces, notably Laruto, Dragon Roost Island, and Inside Forest Haven, it isn't anything I feel compelled to put on an mp3 player or anything. I guess because I'm not a big fan of the Irish influence.
Wind Waker is a game with such a fragmented structure, but damn I won't lie and deny that I was touched by some of its musical moments.

Oh my god when the Dark Theme explodes in the Zelda Medley!

Jesus, just imagine this playing at the end of the game. Music swells while the game's end cinematic is finishing....screen goes black when music stops...."Zelda Skyward Sword" credits being to roll just at the moment when the Dark World theme explodes.

Ravel is still under copyright?!

Didn't get to listen to all of the tracks from the CD before it was taken down. :(

Are there any other places where I can find it?

That got the biggest cheer of the night in London -- I never realised so many around me would be into it. From 4:45 onwards I actually had tears in my eyes, and when the build up to the Dark World started I thought I was gonna pass out with joy or something... when it kicked in and everyone cheered, you could tell everyone was feeling the same.

They did another track at the concert which isn't on the CD which featured more LTTP themes, it started with the original LoZ Level (Dungeon) 1 theme and it had the music from the first LTTP dungeon in as well... again, I was just overwhelmed.

I really want to see it all again :(
