Skyward Sword review thread [Newest Reviews - Cubed3 10/10, GC: A, AusGamers: 7/10]

i'm already preparing to discredit feep's opinions with his positive scribblenauts impressions inflicting that upon unsuspecting gamers

doesn't even matter if he likes it or not i'm just in a discrediting mood

I should become a game reviewer just so I could give out hit-grabbing ratings. That will give fanboys the ammo to destroy themselves. Muahahahahha!

I guess if the post is 3/4 insults, that's bad.
you know he has a point, that's good
but hes fucking stupid, that's bad
but he does have some good writing skills, that's good
but he gave it a 7/10, that's bad
I don't care if he has some good points, he gave it a low score
That's bad.
Can I go now?

I don't know why, but I had to do it...

I'm optimistic about the coming reaction. Hopefully the simultaneous release of so many reviews can nullify some of the stupidity, if it even comes after several weeks of discussion on etiquette.

More 25th Anniversary CD talk:

the last 4 minutes of the Twilight Princess medley is taken almost directly from the TP OST score, it makes me so happy, but THEN they ruin it by augmenting my chords at the very end! Why can't it just end like the videogame and be pretty? ;_;

Also, the Zelda Main Theme Medley, they finally gave us a traditional orchestration of the theme, instead of random variations, that made me happy. Basically, when they kept to the videogame score, it made me happy, but when they altered it, it was usually for the worse.

All in all, a good CD for sure. TP one is by far the best, followed by WW, then the main theme.

People can discuss reviews, they can critique reviews, and they can be upset if they want to. I'm not going to ban for that.

Good to know, I'll try to play it modestly unless I see something that really just propels me into debate. Especially if a lot of reviews dock it for not being HD or not being mature enough or too kiddy or not as big as Skyrim or whatever.

I really hope that Nintendo starts orchestrating all their big games from now on.
They already have the musical composers, but now they have the actual people to create it the way it should be.

If I didn't give this game a 5/5, I might have to enter the witness protection program.

!

The problem that I have is that some I suspect praise orchestration for the sake of it being orchestrated and technically advanced.

I won't get in a tizzy about it but I felt that way in the Galaxy games.

Much of the music in them is really good but sometimes I think they went grand and weren't up to snuff with the melodies and memorability.

Now if you can have BOTH, all is better than good.

Well, it's hard to strike a good balance.
Memorable tunes are usually far simpler than something that needs orchestration.
We all remember all the chip tunes from Mario and Zelda and Final Fantasy on the NES/SNES.
Who remembers a single piece of music from Gears of War or Assassin's Creed?

It doesn't really take away from the feeling that those grand pieces give you during your play through, though. Which I find very important.

Technically, according to the English language, you have not. Though I'm not certain you're an English major!

See, if you wanted to remove doubt from your sentence, you would have had to have written:

Oh my fucking God.

If I didn't give this game a 5/5, I might have had to enter the witness protection program.

or

Oh my fucking God.

If I hadn't given this game a 5/5, I might have had to enter the witness protection program.

But as your sentence stands, you do not truly reveal the score.

Yeah, I agree with most of that.

For sure, but please, for god's sake, they better keep the spectacle down, because i've noticed that when Nintendo composers up the anti, their instruments clash and drown each other out more times than not. Super Mario Galaxy 2's end credits does this, and this Zelda CD does it more than a couple. I can't wait for SS's OST, but I just hope themes are simple (a great example is the ending to TP... so simple, and so beautiful when orchestrated).

Bad example. Ezio's Family is haunting, and one of the best pieces of music in the last five years of gaming.

It would be kind of funny if the bad reviews didn't cause bitter tears, thus making everyone who wants them actually be bitter.

But that's not going to happen. Even if Zelda-GAF were mature enough, there will undoubtedly be people fanning the flames to try and get it started.

1.5/5

They will come for the blood of Feep.
