How you play with our emotions.

I'm sure it's absolutely different, different circumstances and all, but as a talkshow host he shouldn't really have those nerves like that if he's genuine, it's just the way he behaves I guess. Maybe he is good he's just acting that way for the audience or something.
Jimmy Fallon is pretty much known for being incredibly nervous.

Do you not remember his SNL days? It was rare that he could get through a skit without looking at the camera and laughing.

Wind Waker forces you to get the telescope, find Tetra, watch the goodbye cutscene, complete the training drills in the pirate ship, do a massive stealth section, explore windfall island to get a sail, sail across to dragon roost, talk to medli and then finally enter the cave to begin the first dungeon.

OoT makes you collect your sword and shield, talk to the great deku tree and you're in the first dungeon.

I was about to bring this up. When you think about it, Wind Waker's intro is pretty fucking terrible. Really annoying on a 2nd playthrough... OOT, MM and pretty much every other Zelda besides TP doesn't have this problem. Hopefully SS doesn't fall prey to bad pacing.

I'm predicting your score as a metroid prime over bubsy 3d.

From what I learned in math and physics, that is basically an infinite number.

edit: I didn't know Feep worked for G4, I am out of the loop. Not sure that changes my prediction in either way.

Just because I'm bored, drunk, and currently playing through a Zelda game at the moment, I feel like listing the strengths and weaknesses of each Zelda game in the series. Hope I don't offend!

How does TP get knocked for it's instrument samples and not WW which were way worse?

What area of the game did they showcase on Jimmy Fallon?

I've always liked Jimmy. His personality is infectious, can't help but like him. I'm sure he has played his fair share of videogames, but I doubt he really games much now days with talkshow preparation to deal with. It's normal that he isn't going to be a master at every game they bring on the show. That said, when he verses Shaq at NBA, he played pretty good lol.

Hell, when I first booted up the SS demo, observers probably could have assumed it was my first time playing Zelda too

I come into this thread and people are complaining about OoT's pacing, seriously? That game had awesome pacing.

It did and while I thought it was close to being a tad too long(yes, greatness can overstay its welcome), it was almost perfect in that regard as well.

You're a good person and you deserve nothing but happiness and joy. <3
I had to stop at the Desert stage because my wrist was hurting, lol. The Shaman lady almost killed me, what the fuck? I need to practice.

The mix of review anticipation and the usual way Zelda threads devolve is like the perfect shit storm. Has there been timeline talk yet?

Before this thread I honestly didn't care about reviews enough to look forward to them.

Yet here I am counting down the hours. This thread has changed me..

For me the thing about reviews is simply seeing what other people think about a game before I can play it, especially a game I've been waiting a long time for. It's just part of the ride. Game is announced, you wait, screens are released, wait some more, wait wait wait, media here and there... but when people actually get the game and review it, whether you end up agreeing with them doesn't really matter all that much. It's just interesting to see what others think of the game.

When people come in review threads and make the same posts like "wait I thought everyone hated IGN" or "why do reviews matter you're going to buy it anyway," they don't really get that, in the grand scheme of things... it's just part of the ride. If they don't want to participate in review hype, that's cool, but I totally get why people anticipate reviews. They're getting a written, and sometimes video recorded, documentation of what people are thinking about the game that you've been waiting for.

I know IGN takes a lot of shit and I mostly agree with the shit it gets, however, that can't really apply to just one person. It's the place as a whole. The guy reviewing the Wii games, or the guy reviewing the Xbox 360 games, may be very smart individuals that have nothing to do with some of the dumber articles that the site puts up. Reviews typically don't have an impact on what I buy, when I see a game I'm interested enough in, I'll get it. And I know that my tastes are probably different from a first person shooter fan who reviews Silent Hill Homecoming. I take that into account.

So it's just simply not a one-sided thing, people look forward to reviews and people take reviews seriously to varying degrees. If a game I'm looking forward to gets great reviews, it leaves me with a nice, reaffirming feeling. Skyward Sword getting great reviews isn't going to be anything surprising-- it's Zelda-- but it should be a fun, interesting, and probably very amusing experience.

I'm talking to my friend Heather Anne Campbell (Jane from Sequence!), who gave Twilight Princess a 2/5 back in 2006. She said she received actual death threats.

WHAT SCORE AM I GIVING IT GUYZ

What if it gets a 7/10?

Death threats are mostly hot air but with that said, I wouldn't want to get any, I am paranoid as it is.

That's too bad.

I get death threats from reviews all the time.

My Uncharted 3 review got me one e-mail that said "Maybe you're bad at shooting. I'm not. Do you want to find out?"

I replied "Yes."

I have received nothing back.

Shaman Lady is easy as fuck

Regulus, I am ashamed
I hadn't played a video game since April. I kept screwing the timing for the meteor attack (that's an Advance Guardian Heroes reference, people!).

Well not really, I demolished Sonic Generations. But that game is not as twitch-intensive as S&P2.

I'm sort of a fickle Zelda fan (some games I hype up and get into and others I ignore coz I feel like the games never change), but I will say that Wind Waker was something truly special. It could have been because expectations were comfortably lower than they were for Twilight Princess (or this new one), but right from the start the game oozed charm. It became easier to overlook its flaws because it had set itself apart so much from other Zelda games that it sort of forced gamers to take any con with stride. That's the difference between our attitudes toward it and toward Twilight Princess; the latter treaded so closely to OoT and its kin that it forced you to compare.

Twilight Princess was my most hyped up Zelda prior to its launch but once I started playing it realized how the series' foundation has started to crumble and show its age, especially in the company of other next-gen games. It just really didn't impress me, and I had been one of those people who get excited at tiny changes with every Nintendo release. That time however didn't work for me so much.

Skyward Sword sort of fell under the radar for me ever since its announcement. It's probably the burn from TP that hasn't worn off (that isn't to say that I don't think it's a great game, coz that's obviously not the case), but I've sort of gone out of my way not to indulge too much into the details of the game. Except it seems as though I should have given this one more attention, coz it's actually taking some progressive new elements and running with them.

Hope you guys enjoy it. I'll hop on this train soon enough.

final predictions:

IGN will give Skyward Sword a who gives a shit/10

I read that a different way than you intended and I think it'd be awesome if they put that as their score.

Of course in conclusion to a text review of a few sentences.

I just woke up, i have 3 hours left before my access to the internet is cut off... will i have enough time??

Or will i have to continue watch people with their rank fights until the net goes off :(

You kind of have to take this stuff in stride and find it hilarious.

Video games aren't even the worst of it. A dude punched me at a political rally I was covering as press once. Right in the gut.
Dude... this lets me feel uncomfortable in giving away harsh scores. I'm lucky someone didn't fly to Sweden to stab me in the back when I gave Dark Souls a 5/10.

Did you answer "yes" when he said "Maybe you're bad at fighting. I'm not. Do you want to find out?"
