I don't know if this is the right thread to ask, but it seems to be the most active... I have two preorders on the limited edition and I'm seriously considering picking both up, one to play and the other one to collect/sell off in a few years. Is this a good idea?
If you have the cash, sure, but I doubt it'll really go up any value anytime soon.

Feel like such a chump for Zelda-fying my avatar. Should've skyrimed it cause there's no way that game is going to stick to the formula of the last 3-4 Bethesda games. Revolutionary industry changing experience tomorrow!

Feel like I need to say joke just in case considering the crazy that comes out in these threads sometimes.

Welp I am off to bed guys.... last update for the night - same as last time i guess...

Imagine this is what Feep looked like before writing his review.

<3 you
That girl was underage, scandal!

So is nobody else really bothered that there are only 3 main areas to explore? Sure, they may be dense, but it really seems to restrict the diversity and sense of going to through a big Zelda journey to heaps of different themed places.

So many reviews making a point of comparing it to the older Zelda games. Are we really at the point where everything that's ever said about a Zelda game needs to be compared to games released in different decades? Judge the game on its own merits, not whether you recognise something from Ocarina of Time that seems vaguely familiar. Zelda has changed.

No this game is shit. It will be worthless in a few years.

I don't know if I'd call a paper you pick up for free at train stations refined, but OK.

Metro games used to be Gamecentral. Gamecentral was the best goddam place in the world for videogames at one point goddarnit.

So you take that back now.

Besides, I think they are only available on their website, not their paper .

Of course not.

I kind if wish I had, though. I would have 2/5 or 3/5'ed that shit, I'm totally serious.
Which is why I agree partly with the complainer, with this sentence to be more precisely:

"The reviews are inconsistent and the scoring makes little to no sense."

Because - completely unrelated to Zelda - this is true for most places. More often than not one gets the impressions that the different editors of a single publication can't agree on same standards. Or they might not even care.

quit ruining my nationalism.

promoting onm as a good source should tip you off that i wasn't serious :)

I guess the rest of reviews won't be out until tomorrow. And most probably they'll hover around 8.5

Since it already has gotten some 8s, I guess GOTY contenders will be Arkham City, Skyrim and Uncharted in most of the publications, and only a few non-Nintendo publications may give SS GOTY award.

I guess what these 8 reviews shows more than anything else, is that Nintendo's philosophy in the Wii, that is focus on artistic design and motion control, has ultimately failed to win over the dudebro gamers.

Hey Feep, yours said all I needed to know:

BOOM

Yeah, honestly, I play Zelda for the dungeons and puzzles. That's all that matters to me.
If they are amongst the best in the series I am a happy chappy.

Sure, the idea is simple to convey and perform, but unlike prior instruments of the series, the harp has little gameplay purpose outside of uncovering secrets and the obligatory, "Learn this song now!" moment. Both the Wind Waker and Ocarina of Time were powerful instruments that could change the time of day or teleport Link to designated areas across the map. Sadly, the Harp does neither, and feels like it could have been skipped entirely.
Really disappoints me, as I love when an instrument is a pivotal item in Zelda games.

This does remind me of something I've mentioned before, that everyone looks to Zelda for something different and no one game can satisfy all those desires anymore.

I myself think the game should focus on dungeon and puzzle design. There was a crazy dude who (might still?) posts here that thinks it needs to become more character action like Devil May Cry. A lot of people think it needs to ape Lord of the Rings in tone and be epic and traverse great distances. The Zelda series is many things to many people and will not always hit the right beats for everyone. This also includes reviewers.

Some of the scores on either side of the pendulum might be explained that way.

Ummm...these are great scores. Let's not lose perspective here. About what I expected to be quite honest.

I read Gameradars, it's a good review. They don't really have anything bad to say. All the talk about the "freshness" of SS is getting me hyped. The controls needed recalibrating but it didn't get in the way of the overall exprience so that's great. The comparisons to TP and WW though are pretty interesting.

TP story had a chance to be more drastically different because of it's place in the series' timeline. SS is the origin story so it make more sense to keep it solid because of how it ties everything together. And I don't mind if it's not as traditonal as TP really. WW, imo, wasn't.

WW to me is my favorite with OoT very very close behind it and the Underwater Hyrule part is truly amazing and I'll agree with that sentiment a 100%. But I'll decide the rest for myself.

8.8/10 overall for review...
:p just playing.

must. read. more.
