I've been playing the game on the PC but I decided to give the PS3 demo a shot just for kicks and I came away duly impressed.
Yes, the PC version is obvious a step up, but the PS3 version still looks fantastic and runs fairly smoothly. It's very clearly the same game and much of the visual panache remains in tact. Impressive work. It's definitely one of the best looking sandbox games to date.
I'm really sick of the driving camera, though. The way it faces down all of the time is just beyond irritating. You have these massive structures stretched before you and the camera wants to tilt down the entire time. I wish this could be adjusted.

I was 2 seconds away from getting the clean driving achievement. Almost did it in the armored cargo van. SO PISSED.

tried the demo on PS3 last night... and i think it was really damn good. i'm hard to impress at this point in the gen, but i gotta say i was impressed. i'm definitely buying this on PC or PS3. bravo UGF.
but how do you walk? i can't play an immersive open world game if my character runs with the slightest tilt of the analog stick. looks and feels so stupid.also, is there a way to lock on to enemies? fighting was kind of awkward without locking on. still fun though, and the variety of all the moves was amazing, using the environment etc in brutal ways. very flashy and entertaining.
and are the camera angles always fixed, no way to change them? no interior view from cars etc?
When you sprint everywhere you get to see those awesome jukes and weaves that put Ezio to shame
So this is on sale for 35 bucks from green man gaming.
Is it worth it GAF?
How is the mission variety? Thats the one thing that drags down most open world games for me.
No, far too clunky to put Ezio to shame.

Ezio trips, throws his hands up, spins and falls on his face when you sprint headlong into a crowd, is what I mean. Sleeping Dogs' animations don't exactly blend perfectly, but I love not having to worry about steering around people.

Just learned Square-Enix did the brilliant thing of offering a demo. Downloaded and installed; now we'll see if I'm pushed over the fence like so many once-unenthusiastic players. I cannot wait.
People who played the demo said it did not reflect the game.
So are there only four save files and the autosave? I'm trying to anticipate particularly cool parts of the campaign to "bookmark" (so I can see the cutscenes again), while leaving a slot open for my brother to possibly play the game.
But does it replay the cutscenes before and after as well? And I thought cop cases weren't available for replay? You can replay all the missions and races individually.
It's funny that no matter where there are puddles of water, if it's raining outside those puddles will all appear to be getting rained in. Even indoors.
End game spoiler:Only one small complaint for a magnificent game. After the final fight on the burning docks I was thinking: oh man, the sequel will be in London because that's where Pendrew got promoted too. Then I was like, wait, what, he's already busted..?
You're the exception I guess, others were trolling about how the game sucked afterwards.I played the PC demo and bought it last night. It's only a small portion but it was still fun.

Oh, really? So if I wanted to replay, say,Yeah pretty sure it replays everything. I replayed the last mission and had to skip all the cutscenes and the credits again.
Any way to get thevalet to bring you something other than your motorcycle?

Yeah, go to a parking garage, talk to the attendant, and if you're using a 360 controller (as all PC players should, although I hear keyboard/mouse is OK!), you hit the Y button, I believe, to set the vehicle they'll bring you. It'll tell you the button at the bottom. Very handy. I now zip all over the place in a sports car too fast for its own good!Any way to get thevalet to bring you something other than your motorcycle?

We just updated the SD community site with moar stats, btw.
Hold in the left trigger/L2, the camera pushes in closer and you walk.
left trigger/L2 is lock on in combat.
No interior car views, tilt right stick down for front view and rotate to pan the camera.
Please post any sales numbers that you get - if you are at liberty to do so.
Cheers for the link.

I hope this game sells a billion copies.
I'm two-thirds of the way through the main campaign. Does the meaning of the title "Sleeping Dogs" ever become apparent?
