So, Drake is being accused of using ghost writers. Fuckery inside.

Which makes using a writer silly. How hard can it be to write hedonistic brag raps? I used to dabble in rapping goofin off with my boys... writing rhymes and trying to outdo each other was a fun part of the process. I never understood just showing up to the studio, being handed lyrics, and rapping. Hahaha how can we take any potential diss song seriously when he probably won't even write it himself? What a clown.

absolutely. I think most hiphop heads grew up messing around with each other trying to roast each other with bars. when I rode the bus in middle school that's what you'd hear on the bus on the way home. so like you said, how can you and I , or competing mc's take other hiphop artists seriously if they're taking cadences or lyrics from another person and passing it off as their own? even old school rappers used to give a shout of if they grew up around an old head who talked a certain way and they later emulated that style when they started rapping. there's a reason the wutang clan likened hiphop to martial arts movies and emulated the ways in their music, to a lot of hiphop artists hiphop will always be a hyper competitive sport and writing your own lyrics disqualifies you as an individual from the conversation of greats.

also yeah I was thinking the exact same thing about the diss tracks that may pop up over the next few weeks. imagine a ghost writer writing a diss track directed at the artists he's writing for only to have that artist use that track as his own thinking its mean to diss another artist. it's like dissception.. yeah I know I'm corny for that double entendre lol

I'm all for saying this track is weak but y'all are dusty as they come. There are great hip hop artists out their today that don't even mention drake or affiliate with him and pop rap. Move on from the past, damn.

It's an okay track. I don't think it was meant to be a diss track but more of a "how this makes me feel" type track that he does a lot.

I can see both sides of the arguments being presented here. Drake isn't making any different type of rap than any other artist out. He talks about the same things as many less popular rappers like Migos, etc. The difference is Drake knows how to wrap (hehehe) his sound into something much more commercial and can be consumed by the masses. He does this by doing a few things

1. Catchy, twitter hashtag-esque hooks
2. Doesn't use "nigga" and "bitch" nearly as often, this gives his songs a bit more approachability to the biggest demographic that buys rap (white 18-25 year old women).
3. Doesn't talk about guns/or gangbanging directly. He might drop a line or two about a crew member doing it, but that's the extent of it, which again makes it much more approachable.

With that in mind, I can see why some people would be a taken back if the rumors of him not writing his own verses are true. His verses aren't "deep" or "sophisticated" enough to warrant needing someone to write for you, and unlike singing in which the main talent is the voice moreso the lyrics. In rap your main talent is your ability to well...rap.

But on the flip side...I personally don't understand why the aforementioned is such a big deal, I mean as long as the end result is good then meh? I mean do people really look towards a pop star like Drake for deep sophisticated lyrics? If so I've find the real problem. I mean sure it's completely possible to be this sophisticated deep lyricist and still sell millions but it's a much harder road and for what exactly?

At least that's my opinion on the matter.

Drake is trash, but since when fucking Meek Milli is being so cocky? Once Nikki drops his ass he'll go back to be another average rapper.

Meh, i feel like many rappers who have made it big in the mainstream do this. Drake just found a great formula and those producers are putting in work to compliment him.

This circle jerk of a topic has me wondering if people conveniently forgot that Nas had tracks ghostwritten for him
Collabs from throwaway tracks on Untitled. Nobody gives a fuck.
Not even ghostwritten either it was a few hooks.
Acting like Nas had verses written for him, fuck outta here.

Drake said a whole lot of nothing while Meek will have people checking his credits for "Q. Miller" and any other unknown contributor names for the rest of his career.

Advantage Meek
Drake actually rapped instead of flashing feelings on Twitter cause better artists aren't RTing about your struggle album, though.

Advantage Drizzy until Meek puts out an actual diss track.

It would have been a much worse look for Meek to write a diss track because Drake used a ghostwrote verse on their collab.

Meek's grievance is legitimate. I doubt the verse was free and if it wasn't free it was pricey. Paying a bunch of cash for a verse only to find out it's penned by some dude that Drake pays less per month than Meek did for that verse? Yikes.

You tried to play it off like Nas had verses ghostwritten for him the way it is with Drake.
You on some sideways shit breh.

Looks like Drake had a hook and an eight bar verse written for him. That's it. We don't know how much Nas had written for him but it was apparently a lot.

Drake brings out emotions lol. Gotta defend ghost writing like its honorable now lol

Show me where I defended ghostwriting.

In what world? God no lol. No.
The real world where one artist has more fans, a better discography and more sells. Meek Mill is a clown. He paid Drake for a verse to have drake on a song, his "grievance" is that he's tired of people telling him he got washed in his own track! Drake doesn't need a ghostwriter to shit on Meek Mill.

Also, I'm tired of Meek Mill pulling this "Kendrick and Cole got skills, but are in a different lane.." shit too. Yeah fuck boi, the "you're not fucking with us on ANY level" lane.

I hope the softest rapper in the game murders this dude. Then Nikki and Sacharine or whatever the hell, get back together.

Drake cant win with you crybabies

If he goes hard, yall say "wahh fake ass gangster"
If he puts out this, it's soft as baby shit

Whatevs, meek mill is fucking trash regardless
Once nicki minaj goes, his fame goes

He was doing fine without Nicki actually. Sure, he may have gained a bit of fame from this, but it really isn't substantial to say that he will be nothing without Nicki.

always thought people liked drake ironically

how can you take someone that has lyrics like that and talks like that seriously when he's obviously faking it

You know that there's a space between tough guy bars and subliminals mixed with generic bars right?

Drake literally watches and sponsors battle rap events that have tons of artists that are nasty with the pen game without pretending to be something they're not. He should be more than capable of putting out a better diss track than that.

Apparently he's got another in the vault just in case Meek does respond with a track, so we'll see if that happens but he doesn't get a pass on a weak opening shot because the dude has made hit records.

Yup. Yikes. If Drake would of told Meek someone else was going to write the verse Meek would of never signed off on it. He asked for Drake to be on the song not Mr. Miller.

Again I give Drake credit for making this "diss" record but it was weak as hell.

His stans are acting like this is literally the greatest thing ever. It was barely a diss, but I guess the excuse right now is he was testing the waters and has a real diss track in case meek responds.

Personally Meek isn't even worthy of this response. I really hope this is the end of it because this "beef" is fucking pointless.

this all this beef is really about which is why Drake and Meek stay losing but Drake gets that extra L.

its a bait track, insider revealed that on KTT when the song was released

the outcome at the end of the day is Meek taking an L. Drake is way to popular, most rappers will not want to mess up their chance at getting his stimulus package

They don't give a fuck lol. Have your ever seen a Drake concert? They repeat all that shit while the camera focuses on their demonic faces. Fucking Drake let them do the Marvin's Room hook back and forth for a good 10 minutes flying around the arena like Sting. Felt dejected as shit, no winning against that. Fuck Drake.

Calling this a diss is the worst thing you can do.

Like, this caused an uproar? And then Drake gets all passive-agressive.

People acting like this is anything don't know how the rap business works. Even Rakim talked about having rhymes handed to him at Aftermath, this is just how it is all over the place. Songwriters and vocalists are not always the same thing.
