So the vita had a very strong few months...was that it?

My wife gave me a vita and a handful of games last night for xmas. Its fantastic. I knew I would like it but its far more polished than i had first thought it would be. I rather like it. Going to try Ragnorok tonight.

It's an amazing piece of tech. There are also a ton of really good PSN and PSP games that are worth checking out. :)

What about games announced recently like that jump game or one piece 2(just the first two that comes in mind)? They are clearly recent projects.

I guess I would refer to my first point: I don't really know. I wouldn't give the go to any new development if I were he one footing the bill. No way in hell.

Maybe those publishers are simply making a big mistake.

This is an example of what i repeat every single time, your(and mine and everyone else) ideas are not universal, not everyone thinks like you and even worse we don't know how these things works but you don't hesitate to say that big and expert developers are probably wrong and you that are only a gamer are right!
Don't you think you should think about this at least a little bit? ;)

I don't think I'm being radical by suggesting that because of extremely poor sales and lack of support it would be a financial mistake to develop for this failed/awesome system.

No personal expertise is required to stake such a reasonable claim. It is clear where this thing is headed. Do I have to be a politician to comment on political predictions? An NFL player to talk football outcomes?

I welcome your disagreements, but if you believe this thing has any real chance - I feel you are living in denial (today's original point).

Vita sells really badly, no doubt, but without a clear image of developer's decision process we can't say anything, if you were right then why there are still many vita games coming?

From Capcom? From Konami? From Square Enix? From Western third parties?

Most of Vita's announced 2013 third-party titles are from Bandai Namco, Tecmo Koei, and various niche publishers, and of the few of those that are exclusive, nearly all are low-budget titles that could turn a tidy profit on sales well below 100K. That ought to speak for itself.

I'd be perfectly happy with the Vita being a niche machine for the hardcore. :)

I'm not saying that you are radical or that you can't say your opinion, we are here for this! lol
But i think that with real things like the ps3/wii support situation, vita still getting games etc you should at least have some doubts on the validity of your sales=support ;)

I'm living in denial? Then it's soooo good to live in denial, i'm enjoying so many games, i'm not so sure that people that look always at sales could say the same ;)

PS:
are we sure that are not the haters to live in the denial of the vita qualities? ;)

I too am enjoying many games on this platform, but I also have a long history of buying failed systems before they get cheap from the 90s, LOL. So while I would looove to reconsider my stance, I sadly cannot. To address your point directly, I don't believe the PS3 is a valid comparison as the PS3 has good enough sales to be considered a success...even in 3rd place.

No problem with where you stand, personally - just perplexed. Love the argument.

The annoying thing here is Sony themselves seem intent to not drop PSP to give more support to PSVITA. I realize that currently PSP is bigger than PSVITA, but goddamn Sony it you have a new struggling handheld on the market you should throw ALL your support for it even if it means abandoning your previous device. By the looks of it right now all the best they can--or more precisely, want to--do is half-assing their support for PSVITA, ugh.

They seem afraid to take that gamble and I personally, as a PSVITA owner, is rather pissed because of it.

Thing is, Sony themselves aren't developing PSP games. The device is being supported by third party and has been since Vita launched. Sure, Sony haven't pulled the device - but neither has Nintendo with the regular DS line. In fact, Nintendo still were making DS games after the 3DS launched. The same cant be said of Sony and Vita.

Sony has been doing what they can to buffer the Vita library. They aren't Nintendo with software (sole draw of the system), their ware compliment a library. What more can they do? It's up to third parties to see whether there is an audience in Vita, who knows, one of them may strike Monster Hunter like gold with something we didn't see coming. Every IP that becomes massive, doesn't immediately start that massive. As far as the system goes, it's far more future proof than the 3DS is, so it could get a new lease on its life (lol pun) when the next gen starts....and developers want a more ambitious handheld experience.

I don't think there's any chance the Vita will live through 2013.

1.) It's too small a platform for third party investment.

2.) Sony's in such a weakened state that they cannot afford to push the handheld. They even had to shut down several studios that worked on Vita titles this year.

3.) Sony has the PS4 to worry about. No way are they going to take their resources away from a new console launch to put out ineffective Vita software.

Call of Duty was probably their last ditch effort to redeem the handheld, and we all know the outcome of that. If there's any chance of the Vita living beyond next year, it's maybe Sony putting out much cheaper models (with lower quality materials, say goodbye to OLED) and advertising their already existing game library through 2014 (with minor PSN support) and then quietly killing it off during the console transition while the PS4 grabs everyone's attention.

I dunno. Seems around my area tins of people all of a sudden got a psvita for xmas and love it.. Perhaps word of mouth will help here? In any case had mine since launch and allready got my monies worth, but id love for the best yet to come.
