Ah, gotcha! Makes sense.

Wonder who's skin was under Rita's fingernail? What were they there for? (I missed the first half of the episode unfortunately.)

some random person whose body was being disposed of wasn't it

Yeah they got in touch with their hook-up at the morgue or coroner's office last episode, I thought.

Goggins was the highlight of my whole day. I've read about all sorts of guest spots but not him. I've been hoping he'd come on the show. Never imagined it would be like that!

Holy hell that entire scene with Goggins - unreal.

I don't think I'll be able to wipe the memory of Chibs pretending to take on two dicks.

Oh, and I hope Jax cuts off Clay's head this season. Now Clay is responsible for Roosevelt's wife being shot and losing the baby it was suggested she was carrying. Yes, it hasn't been confirmed, but we all know Clay is pulling strings with the new patches and the home invasions.

God damn you, Clay.

I just woke up and kind of am slow at the moment. What would Clay have to gain by getting these new patches to do these home invasions though?

Lots of things to gain. Namely:

- Cause the club and town to turn against Jax
- Convince them he needs to lead again instead of Jax

I'm not even done with this episode and it's the craziest fucking thing ever... I don't even know what to think about it...the entire tone of it is just full on slapstick/absurd shit.

I loved the part where the step son walked in on Venus and the gang and was easily convinced it's not gay to get a bj from a transgender.

Loved the episode. Reminded me a lot of the first two seasons. Nothing huge going on, just small time stuff and some club antics. Walton Goggins was hilarious.

So it seems like Clay has a plan to somehow overthrow Jax? Seemed odd that the nomads were the only people disagreeing with the Pope stuff and then Clay quickly wants to vote in the escort deal. Guessing he has a plan to make that backfire on him.

Ohh God, I was laughing so hard last night. Christ! :D :D Goggins was awesome last night, that whole scene was hilarious. The way Tig was checking "her" out, lol. And the stepson walking in and the club convincing him "it's cool man".

Goggins kissing Hunnam topped it all of, that look on Jax. It was nice that things were a little light this episode after two heavy eps. In my opinion I'd be surprised if Clay lasts the season. Now his (probable) connections with the home invasions may have cost the new sheriff (his name escapes me at the moment) his unborn child. :/

Clay needs to go...

Such a weird episode. Didn't feel like the normal writing. Very dudebro-ish. "Yea, lets have Jax get in a bad ass fight then fucking blow up the motorcycles, lets have Nero slam Gemma into the wall and fight his urge like red shoe diaries, then have a montage of everyone smoking pot. Just weird. I did however chuckle and laugh a few times with the tranny and dick comments. Overall did not enjoy the episode.

I see it as a good diversion to get over the depressing nature of the last episode.

My favorite part is where you complain about it being too "dudebro" and then use a disparaging word for transsexuals and call the dick jokes the highlight of the episode.

Exactly. Not every episode can or should be depressing and intense.

Yea I see what your saying, it just felt so out place for the overall tone of the show not just last episode. And I don't even mind an "uplifting" episode, it just felt poorly written.

Not really. It was vaguely amusing at first, but his scenes went on way too long. The writing has gotten noticeably worse this year.

That's a pretty ambiguous criticism. Beyond Gemma manipulations, I would say that the first 5 episodes demonstrate a pretty clear path forward and give the show a much needed (and emotional) mission as well as establishing a clear and interesting villain.

Last 2 eps were unremarkable; i guess Pope had bigger impact on the better first 3 episodes. The show kinda blew the momentum and thrust given by episode #3.

Awful job dealing with Opie's death. If you brought someone who watched all the seasons of the show and showed him this season but skipping the third episode he would have had hard time to discern that the club lost a key member without the direct mentioning in ep 4 and others. Pretty much all the characters went back to their old days and i'm hard pressed to see any trace or change that would result and reflect the loss of Opie MERE 3 DAYS ago.

That's why all that scene with Venus bothered me. Tig has lost his daughter and Opie (in what, span of a week?) and he's all back to his normal 'playboy' ways, yearning some one-on-one action with a transvestite.

In through one ear; out through the other.

Perhaps, but was it ever really that good to start with? I've always enjoyed the show for the characters more than anything else.

I totally agree with this. The fact that nobody seems to be really struggling with Ope's death at all is absurd. Is this show written by Max from Parenthood?

Yeah. This last episode kinda completely forgot about all the previous stuff. Everything went back to carefree fun.

Consequences and repercussions really don't last on this show.

it's one of the reasons why I hate the character so much. the way he's written, he has no regard for his actions or what's happened to him only days before. I think it's a symptom of poor writing for a character that has far outlived his usefulness to the story and should have died long ago.

what will be really strange is him suddenly getting riled up again when pope eventually resurfaces. the character at this point has been completely butchered, they really should just put him out of his misery and promote one of the other characters into his position within the group dynamic.

It's the show fundamental problem: random events with no consequences.

How about the fact that Jax wants the developers to come to Charming. Didn't the club spend the last four seasons fighting this? They acted like it was death itself.

Agreed, although I think it's far worse than he "lost" them. He watched as his daughter was burned alive in a hole full of corpses and it was his fault; Opie was murdered in front on him and it was, ultimately, his fault. This, as you said, happened to him this week. The character is a fucking joke.

Yes, but Jax no longer wants the club to continue to survive with its current identity.

At least that's the way he's playing to the audience. Probably it will end up being revealed to all be a con at the end of the season like they did with the ATF informant storyline.
