Sons of Anarchy - Season 5 - Tuesdays on FX

I think this episode took the whole "who's in charge?"/Clay's a manipulative genius stuff a little too far for me.

I don't even understand Juice's character anymore. He seems to serve no purpose other than to be Clay's bitch and seemingly has no other interaction with anyone else in the club. He is basically a Prospect.

He's observing both sides of the struggle and questioning Clay's. He'll probably get killed or vent his suspicions/fears to Jax or someone soon?

He hasn't even been around any other side than Clay's. The only time he has been around anyone else on screen is at the table or with the group to tell Jax about the Nomads.

I do think you are right though. He will probably try to speak up at the last minute......but Clay will jump the gun and shoot him and say he doesn't deserve last words or some shit. :lol

That was in the afternoon. Who the hell is high for that long from a couple of pulls. But hey that's as good as my guess.

Hmm, really? Let me relook at that.

I agree with the Juice part. I really don't understand where his character is going. The ensemble is already too large, either kill him off or give him a more substantial part of the narrative.

Maybe she finished the rest of the banana vodka. :p

I really think his substantial part is coming up.. they are setting it up for him to start piecing things together regarding the break-ins, attempt on Unser, etc...

Also, since we use a rolling card, this is the first episode where I'm in the credits! Wahoo! I'm really proud of it... a great season, a great crew, and a fun cast.

That was the other part of my post. They shouldn't need any other piecing. This episode kind of took the back and forth a little too far for me. Clay has done nothing but undermine and screw over everyone in the club for his retirement and he just lost his spot at the head of the table. There really shouldn't be even a shred of doubt. They leave Clay and conveniently get gunned down.....

Suspecting Pope after agreeing to run more drugs for him doesn't even make sense. The guy wants to give the club money to do what they already do and they want to suspect him of trying to bring pressure on them? What is the point? He could have killed them at any point.

Well, Gemma smokes a lot. Her and Tara are probably depicted as the biggest pot heads. You can't drive on that stuff, just like you can't drink and drive even if you have a high tolerance to alcohol.

SAMCRO has been very much about exterior threats. Clay, as a threat, hasn't really existed as a reality to the club until last season. And that's just Jax and Opie. I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility to think that Pope could be playing puppet master -- he's a larger than life figure with influence that exists further than anyone in SAMCRO could imagine. I actually think it says something about the race relations with the club, something they've never been 100% perfect on.

im disputing what you said.

i can buy if they go with the "she was exhausted from the day's events" card or something like that. but as a pothead, driving while high is no sweat (and fun too)

Wait... what? Uh.

Driving while high on weed is nothing like driving while drunk is what he's saying.

Especially since it appears to have been multiple hours in between smoking.

She'd be buzzed maybe. I actually didn't even think it was her being high at first, I thought maybe she was sleep deprived or something. But she did just get some sleep...so...

Christ Gemma, just when Tara is taking a chance to let the kids into your life again you blow it. :/

Glad Unser is still around, that preview last week made it look like it was curtains for him. Clay's been a pretty sneaky SOB this season. And things got more complicated now with that drive-by attack on Jax and Chibs.

Things look to be building up pretty heavily. I also agree with people here that something significant has to be in Juice's future.

Yeah. The way it was set up it seemed like a deathwish/cry for help more than being under the influence, but that is odd since the kids were in the car. I don't know..seemed like a really unnecessary scene, unless of course she ends up a cripple and her and clay get one of those cool WW2 bikes with the little car on the side. That would be awesome.

I hope Jax is smart enough to realize that. Why would Pope hire a hit squad to kill Jax when he has had ample opportunity to do it already?

I believe, and I'm not sure, is that the idea is that Gemma is consistently getting high and that's it's not out of the realm of possibility for her to have smoked before she picked them up. The seeds have been planted that she has a propensity for her marijuana at all hours of the day.

5 seasons and so many blunts later she finally gets into an accident =P still lazy

Sutter ruined the Juice character with that contrived racial bullshit from last season. He's suppose to be that lovable, little brother of the MC. From the previews it looks like Juice was the one bailed Clay out with that hit. That joint must of had some of that killer Cali bud. The thing is we don't know how much she smoked in between receiving the call from Tara and arriving to pick up the boys in the evening.

It seems like most of the guys just smoke joints casually all the time...Its always been depicted casually (and seemingly realistically) until this moment

Not to mention she and Unser just smoking a joint in the middle of the crime scene. I kind of assumed it was just a rolled cigarette because of that. Can never tell though, but i've definitely seen Jax and the others smoking up at random times while out doing shit

Gemma's gonna call up Ron Perlman and ask for help, and they are gonna rekindle their relationship and become supervillains

Or what if Clay poisioned Gemma in his evil plan to sabotage Jax... this has probably already been suggested blah

I bet the drive by was clays work as well to further push his agenda that pope is behind it all

Agreed.

I'd blame the car crash on Gemma being tired. She smoked a while ago, and you can drive high of weed, especially if you smoke very regularly like Gemma does.

so the kids are probably fine......but court battle to dispute custody will ensue.... seems like what they've been building to >_>

Devastating ending. Don't know what to think...

On another note, I think Jax is going to have Warren run some kind of con on Clay to get him to fess up.

So.. I just had a stupid thought. Is it odd that a group calling itselves the Sons of Anarchy has rules?

Yeah, I'm bored.

For most of them sure, most didn't really even understand Clay losing his Pres spot. But if Jax, Tig, Bobby, or Unser even doubt for a second it's not Clay it's just dumb. Tig and Bobby knew most of Clay's shit first hand, and last we knew Tig was still pretty furious with Clay because he lost his daughter due to his manipulation the first time he blamed the Niners. Jax and Unser are fully aware of Clay's shit.

If Unser can think Clay just happened to be at his place at just the right time, and if Jax thinks the Niners actually tried to gun him down right after leaving Clay's it's just dumb. This episode just took it too far.

I would laugh if the other gunman was the last nomad. He just saw what happened to the other guys for going along with Clay, it would be hilarious if he continued to help him.

If you start poking these kinds of holes then youre only asking to be disappointed

I thought for a second Clay was going to shoot Unser after killing the two nomads. Jax knows Clay is bullshitting him. Why not kill him on the spot? I know Jax needs Clay for the guns but come on.

I'm fearful for my life.

seriously, what a great episode. I can't believe how good this season has been so far, the ending was just intense. I can see it being a fakeout like the ones from dexter often are, but wow..the fallout from that is not going to be pretty.

gemma smoke all the damn time. she cant hold her weed now? really, really poor way to reach that plot point.
Yeah, that really bothered me too. Someone who's likely been smoking for 30+ years does not get that stoned, Sutter should know both that and that smoking weed generally doesn't have you tripping out while driving.

Hoping that was just a fakeout to cause more tension in the club, because if something bad actually happened for that weak-ass reason, I'm gonna be pissed.
