Sony isn't changing its strategy

Not exactly. In the PS One era, Square didn't publish their games in the US. They had an agreement with Eidos for the PC, SCEA for PS One games up through FF Tactics/VII, and then Electronic Arts after that.
well yeah. these kind of partnerships have been part for the industry for ages.

something similar happened to Demon's souls right?

Then feed me with diverse exclusives. Give me a first party RPG, RTS, Simulation.....just cut back on the third-person action extravaganzas.

Go buy an Xbox if you don't like what Sony is making. Why would Sony need to make a first party RTS game, when a 3rd party can do it better. Just stop the non-sense.

He's not saying anything different. The question is how soon are games coming to PC, mobile and Cloud.

This is Phil Spencerish PR talk just with a Japanese accent as far as I'm concerned. Need more details.
Details. He doesn't say "later" in the audio file after talking about PC. It's written in the tweet but the audio is cut after talking about expanding to PC and mobile.
Cautiously optimistic that we'll get shorter PC delays or even day 1 releases like Helldivers 2.

It's funny because of how many people's double standards work,.

Sony is much closer to release all their games on day 1 on pc than xbox is on playstation, right now we have all the main playstation sagas (uncharted, god of war, ratchet and clank...) available on pc, and they recently released a game on day 1 on pc.

Microsoft hasn't done anything like that yet, but hey, xbox on playstation on day 1 is confirmed if you read between the lines but playstation on pc no way!

There are tons of those games available on PC.

Why do you want them to develop a bunch of games that are better suited to PC and keyboard and mouse controls?

KB&M can be used on a console, plus there have been RTS games on consoles before that have made good use of the controller.

No need to gatekeep certain games on PC.

I have an Xbox.

My point is that Sony used to have a very diverse selection of exclusive and first party titles, but recently they've been leaning heavy on the third-party action games. I love those games, but I'd also like them to expand and try something different.

Most of it was third party exclusives.

A lot of them were published by Sony and Sony still own the IP, such as PaRappa the Rapper for example.

With the PS3 they had two amazing FPS series in Killzone and Resistance. What happened to them? I'd love them to come back or for Sony to have another stab with a FPS.

FPS kinda went the way of the dodo.
Not many people like it anymore.

Isn't this that old interview from October/November last year?

It seems like people are just digging for any info to feed their own confirmation bias. Their strategy is clearly laid out in their investor slides. PS5 comes first and some games, particularly live service, will expand to mobile and PC.

It's not gatekeeping, it's about being realistic. The controller isn't suited to those games and none of their teams have expertise in the genres you mentioned.

It makes no sense, you can get those experiences elsewhere and they have never been genres that Sony have been strong in. If that's what you're looking for then other platforms would be better suited for your tastes.

KB&M is better, but I play AoE2 and Halo Wars fine with a controller on my series S 🤷‍♂️

and none of their teams have expertise in the genres you mentioned.

Guerrilla Games had no experience in Action RPGs before making Horizon.

That doesn't mean they shouldn't try. I'm not saying they should ditch their third-person action offerings. I'm just suggesting like the Sony of old, adding a bit of variety to their exclusive games.

Not quite extinct but not very popular anymore since 3PS took the crown.

Are we talking multiplayer? I don't really fuck with multiplayer, but my son does and based on what he and his boys play, I still think first person is popular.

He plays Fortnite, which is 3P, but he also plays a lot of Cod and Rainbow Six, both 1st person and still very popular.

A quick reminder that we're not shareholders in any of these game companies. Their business strategy should not be of any concern to you unless they are actively TAKING AWAY the games you love to play.

Relax
Game
Repeat

Yeah sure lol
Like i have said many times on here, if they are not releasing PC games day and date by the end of this gen, well i'll be blown away, mainly by the stupidity.

It's one of the most popular genres in gaming. What is true is that people who play FPS have no problem playing 3rd person games, but there is a significant contingent of 3rd person players who have convinced themselves that 3rd person is gaming.

Yall have the best platform right?
So no need to constantly wish for other platforms games.

You dont really hear Nintendo fans asking for Xbox or PS games. And you dont hear PS owners asking for Nintendo games.

Want to play the games you dont have, buy/install the console or PC store that has those games

If it happens, Sony would be truly stupid as they lose potential to lose future buyers going to PC. And even some of there current fanbase.

It its like saying, you like the sound of our games, well you can buy them elsewhere now and dont need a playstation.
They make alot of money from people joining and being on there Playstation ecosystem, especiallly 3rd party games.

That potential fan could go to PC where PS makes no 3rd parth money. And less from there 1st party games (steam gets a percentage
Does thay make sense?

Nintendo do the same thing, they know it keeps interest in there console and your forced to buy it
Its very simple

Yall sound like port beggers. "Its coming to pc day 1, it has to" who cares, go play your games

Yeah and the difference in those scenarios is that Nintendo isnt putting games on PS, and PS is already steadily putting games on Steam.

Most console masses wouldnt quit consoles and go to PC, in the same way PC has the same games on the whole that release on console yet you dont see PC gamers moving to the much easier and cheaper consoles do you? (estimated 200mil PC gamers on the wild).

At the end of the day, the profit Sony makes from console sales (if they even make any in reality) is probably way taken over by the 70-80% gross they would get on a game selling on PC, and those games would be at full price too if day and date, not the cutdown prices they are now.

Some fans already have moved to PC.
And future potential fans could also if you give them the option. Its very simple to understand.

Its about the profit they make selling there games on there console.
And the 3rd party games they sell on there console.

Losing a certain percentage of fans/future fans and the profit along with it would outweight the sales they make on PC.
Im sure you guys understand this as much as you want the games day 1.
As does Playstation themselves and Nintendo

I'm just trying to figure out how the quoted twitter post in the OP makes any fucking sense.

The post reads like:

Here's a quote: (QUOTE)
TL;DR: (some made up bullshit that he didn't say in the quote)

Well we will see, but like i said i will be very surprised if they are not day and date on PC by the end of the gen.

Im not saying it wont happen.

They would make some money 1-3 million extra sales per game. More or less.
And they would lose millions of fans/potential fans.

I just think the potential lose is not worth it.

And only a quick profit making CEO
Would want it to happen (and it very well
Could) because to them it just shows profits quickly and bonuses.
Not the potential huge loses that could come.

Nintendo is smarter and thinking for the brand. Where as Sony CEO probably doesnt realise PS is there best asset.

I would move to PC and with that thousands of pounds Ive spent on PSN would now go to Steam.

I already know a few people who have migrated.

Im sure most PC fans understand this but dont care obviously, Playstation isnt a brand they care about and just want the games day 1 understandably.
Im sure the same with Nintendo games

He literally said no change.
He literally said we will expand our gaming experiences to PC, mobile and cloud.

Changes are happening. Helldivers day and date and PSVR2 support is coming to PC this year.

Sony never supported PSVR on PC whatsoever, so PSVR2 coming to PC is a huge change from before...

They always said multiplayer games are coming day 1.

Again he literally said they arent changed there game strategy.

That doesnt mean there games are coming day 1 to Pc and mobile, it could mean they are expanding there catalogue.

Not happening atm, maybe in the future. Yall need to relax.

PSVR2 isnt that huge of a change

Some in this thread thinking Sony doesn't have big PC plans:

They'll postulate all they want to appease some of you, but they'll follow the money straight to PC. I bet Helldivers 2 was a big wakeup call for them.

They announced a long time ago that gaas would launch day one on pc.....and it did.
Some of you are shocked that sony did........exactly what they already said they would be doing.
