Sony reportedly very confident with Jade Raymond's Fairgame$

Name one person who bitch and moaned about street fighter II.
At the time? Nobody.

In more recent times? Plenty of dumdums from the "modern audiences" blasted the game as racist for stuff like Chun-Li's stage background, which apparently is a racist and stereotyped image of late-80's China to someone who wouldn't be born for at least half a decade after SF2's heydays, has never been to China, and clearly has never even seen photos of China.

About 11 mins into this, Kyle Bosman goes over some talks the devs have done where they show off that the masks to customize your characters are Ai created and starts calling people "Dipshits"

That's a Game Awards presenter and former Easy Ally publicly slagging off this game before it's properly shown off. If someone that tame has it out for it, I don't see the wider public giving it a chance.

he is most known from reaction to e3 2015 holy trifecta reveal

and his amazing news/parody show called the final bosman

It's like Punch Out, ethnic stereotypes are bad so we can no longer have that, it's got to be a bland mush of positivity when there was nothing negative about Dhalsim or Piston Honda

Can I just...like...get another Wipeout game or something.

That would be cool. Thanks Sony.
Nope, from now on you'll only get games that take an entire console generation to develop and cost $200 million +

How do they do it? Easy.

In board room meetings some marketing guy says the gaming industry is $200B of sales and the top gaas games are probably like $50B alone. Marketing dude says "well, if we can achieve just 1% of Fortnite success that leads to millions of sales".

Then top brass asks how to do it.

Woke art director says make a game with DEI focus because white gamers will always be there to buy. But if you promote a woman or minority in the cover it'll expand the reach and draw in sales from those demographics.

Slam dunk!
Yeah .. and them the game takes 7 years to make and is dropped into a different cultural market that has evolved and now is being able to say "fuck you" to them...

This is a problem by itself right .. 8 years is a lot of time ... markets change in 8 years, tendencies, cultural mindset, demographics, things change a lot in 8 years... you base your game on a popular trope that 8 years after already is spent out and you throw the game into a heavily saturated market that in the time span already saw enough games with that trope or maybe the cultural game landscape changed completely ... I really dont think is feasible trend chasing that takes 8 years to achieve.

Dafuq ? Why would i want the work done being rendered useless ...

Ideally the games are great and lot of people enjoy them.

If they suck like concord then yeah sure. But do we habe any indicator thats the case ?

Imo since they're working on GaaS games they'll either fail or be a successful hamster wheel tying up the studios time. Neither sounds ideal to me.

Maybe Haven can hire some of the laid off character designers from Firewalk and concept artists that worked on the Borderlands movie.

The wider public has no idea who Kyle Bossman or Haven Studios is.

Everyone read that wrong. Sony is so confident about the game being good that they didn't mind the game director quitting at all.
That means everything must be working smoothly over there.

great point. maybe up till even 20 years back, not nearly as much could change over the course of 8 years as can change now, to the point where it's actually unhealthy, imo. any current 'interesting' project that takes 8 years to develop runs the risk of being irrelevant on completion...

LoL Sony first party this gen ... pure awesomeness. A sea of bad decisions, trend chasing, incompetence and just plain bad taste. They were very fucking luck that their main competition noped out off the gen very early and had a even worse plan to begin with, and if Nintendo wasn't making dogshit handheld hardware they would be in a position to take a even bigger pie of the console market with the switch 2.

Hermen Hulst always tweeted years ago (when they bought Firewalk) what they were working on was looking good.

Never bother paying 2 seconds worth of your time from any company dude hyping up his products. All just PR and grifting.

A guy selling 99 cent coffees at his shitty shop would do the same.

The "vote of confidence" is always the death kiss

Also WTF name is "Fairgame$"

picture of the logo looked like some IOS/Android FTP slop

As dumb as it seems Deviation and Dark Outlaw are related.

For those who dont know, Jason Blundell started Deviation years ago. Sony bought them out. The studio bombed and nothing came from them and then shut down. It was such a ragtag studio their home page had nothing to do with games. It looked more like those corny corporate event companies who get hired to do team building events because the entire site had to do with bowling, tug of war, watching movies with 3D glasses and goofing around. I have never seen any game studio website big or small so focused on after work hour parties. There was literally ZERO info on the site to do with video games. And to top it off, they had a pic of their studio with PCs and cubicles. It was such BS, nothing was even plugged in. Probably wasnt even their office, but a stock photo from the net.

But then a year later, Sony makes a new Dark Outlaw studio and Jason Blundell is back leading it.

lol

GT7 shouldnt even be there because that's an ultra popular legacy game. Of course it'll do well whether it's purely SP with no mtx, or it has a huge online store. Their baseball game is similar but not on the list. But if all games count, then baseball should be there too as it seems like a successful annual sports game.

Looking just at newer games (excl. GT7 and baseball), the only big success so far is H2. The list already has a lot of red. But to be fair there are a lot of purple rows of unknown success till they release (if they release).

But even for the purple rows, I dont get a sense anyone is majorly amped up on any of them begging for a release anytime soon. Wouldnt be surprised if all of them failed too.

Hopefully that "teamLFG" are the more capable folks from Bungie who saw the writing on the wall and were like: "let's f*cking go"!
