Soul Sacrifice |OT| Sacrifice your wallet to save the Vita

I really dropped the ball on this game. Haven't even finished the SP. I'm at Avalon VI and dying constantly :/
I had some problems as well with the game. (I don't really have any experience with this genre).
But what I found very helpful was this list with the elemental weakness of the enemies:
http://soulsacrifice.wikia.com/wiki/Elements
and I started to farm missions to upgrade my spells. Here is a list of all mission rewards:
http://soulsacrifice.wikia.com/wiki/Quest_Rewards
16 of the same type upgrade to the next level with higher damage. Or for some you need do farm the individual parts and fuse them, if they are not available directly as a reward.
(I use mainly the weapon type spells and the damage increase is very noticeable.)
Armour spells are helpful as well, even for bosses that don't afflict elemental damage. Just to be a bit more robust.
I'm not 100% sure about this, but I read that most damage from bosses is non elemental damage and this counts as force and is reduced by the sigil force damper which you can get with Golbin LEs (+ and ++ for the higher one). If you're neutral the sigil is even stronger.

Thanks. I guess that's my problem. I really dislike grinding so I mostly play each mission once then move to the next one. I don't think I'm under leveled but my equipment seems to be lacking. I'm sacrificing left and right to go through most missions.

Ogre is a splendid boss and a perfect example of a skeleton re-use (of Minotaur). Kind of hope they go back to Siren and differentiate her more from Cyclops.

Now, I knew that while full chaos would do more damage than full divine I thought that full divine would at least be viable, but now I’m starting to get worried that I’ll be shooting myself in the foot for when I go back to the harder pacts. Can anyone suggest any decent loadouts for soloing? The only damage increases I can see in the glyphs are mines and blood magic – is that right? I guess it would be better to farm some essences for the blood magic increases now rather than when I actually hit 99/1?
In my experience, Sanguine Demon/Angelshot + Vimblossom Fruit + Healing offerings is pretty much the only way you'd get decent damage out of pure divine. For sigils, equip 2 neutral boosts and 2 sanguine boosts.

Thanks a lot man! I grabbed the PS+ code. I was pretty surprised it hadn't been snagged yet.

Does the Vimblossom do much? I presume it must be a flat rather than percentage increase if it seems nice for a Divine build?

This is probably the wrong place to ask this but I wanted to pick up either this game or Ragnarok Odyssey. They are similar enough that I want to ask, which one is better/which one should I pick up? Thanks.

I'm not sure, but I keep it just in case. It's not like there are many other good options for a divine user to do damage.

Ragnarok Odyssey has such an awful drop rate that it took me 5+ hours to get a single weapon that I needed to complete my build, and that doesn't even include the time it took me to get all the items needed to upgrade the weapon into a card. You may need to grind in Soul Sacrifice too, but item drops in the game are mostly fixed. Only essences and a few offerings are truly random. I find it difficult to go back to Ragnarok Odyssey after playing this.

Awesome thank you for the fast response. I just needed some actual user information besides reviews to decide which one to pick up.

I've had fun with both, but I would vote for Soul Sacrifice, you will get much more value out of it. It's the better game overall.

There is a demo for both games on the store if you haven't tried those already.

Does anyone know how the Vimblossom fruits stack and how much attack they are adding? I used to just throw a single tree down and eat the 3 fruits off it, but recently I got crazy and grew 4 trees at once and ate all the fruits. Was I wasting my time?

I've not really used them, but surely this would be easy to check? Find some trash that you can two-shot with a throwing spell and one fruit, then eat four and see if you can one shot it?

And urgh, RNG. Been grinding for hours for the LE blood essences, somehow I've ended up with four Warlock LE++ and only one LE+. Cry!

So I made it to chapter IX of the Avalon pacts, and I can't even do the first mission where you collect the memories. Whatever the archfiend is for that area just comes out of nowhere and it's all over. Am I missing something?

Just use some defense sigils and bring an evasion offering. That's what I always do for those missions. And you have to start out quick because he's basically going to jump at you within a few seconds of starting.

Play it a couple of times and get a feel for when it's going to jump and charge - expect to have to dodge and lead it to where it's easier for you to do this. Then try to get the memories in the gaps :)

As mentioned above, evasive offerings will also help

Ragnarok has fewer bosses, maps and content in general (whereas Soul Sacrifice has a bunch and is getting free DLC). Plus, the Ace expansion is coming out late this year. No reason to buy it right now.

IIRC this is the windy level with the staircase design- if you don't drop down to the next level, the werewolf will probably kill in you within a few seconds, but it's also a fast enemy and will not take long to follow.

There are "up escalator" circles that you can see with mind's eye, but you can't use them while mind's eye is active.

I've seen an auction on eBay for the Asian version of the game that comes with codes for 19 different DLC offerings, I know a lot of them have been released in the US, does anyone know if there's any plans to release the rest of them?

I don't see any reason for Sony to not release the rest of the DLCs.

If some of you are having trouble beating later Avalon Pacts, I recommend putting more points in life or going Divine. A 90/10 build is like playing in god mode. You can switch back to your main/original build when you're done to complete the Forgotten Pacts, which aren't needed for the platinum trophy.

I played a bunch of this game with my brother this weekend via adhoc. Those 2 boss missions are so much easier when 2 people who know what they're doing play together. If you're having trouble with those kinds of missions you might even want to try online. The framerate takes a hit and you'll probably get paired with some people who aren't very good, but it's the next best thing.

Just got this game. Don't really know what I'm doing, but I'm enjoying it. Anything a beginner should absolutely know? Is it possible to fuck up my build? I've been focusing on leveling magic but I chose health a couple of times too. Bad idea?

Nope. If you want to unlock all of the black rites you need to get 40 in each at some point anyway. :)

I'm a bit LTTP on this game (well I don't have the Vita yet but I will, soon) and can't find if the Voiceover Pack is available or not in Europe.
I can't find it as an extension on PSN (there are only 2 "preorder" packs but we can't buy them >_<).

I read you could get the preorder items if you bought the game digitally but only for a short time after release so I guess even if I buy it now, I won't get them.

So, are we f***ed in Europe for the time being?

If you're sure you've done everything, including the multiplayer pages, try using a new save file.

I don't think the game allows you to delete save files so I ended up uploading my stoe to the cloud, made a second file, completed Sortiara chapter and flipped pages for the trophy. Then I copied my cloud save back over.

Yes unfortunately the Japanese voice over and DLC outfit were never released on the EU stores (only US store has it) to buy if you didn't pre-order the game either through PSN or with certain retailers.

Having a balanced character is never a bad idea. A good idea is to get 40 in both magic and health first (to get all the black rites) and then decide if you want to go 1 life and 99 magic or 99 life and 1 magic.

Hey guys, don't know if anyone is still in this thread but maybe you can help. I'm playing this game and doing really well. Like, I'm mowing these bossed down like there is no tomorrow. But what's with the ranking, man? I can never catch a break. Occasionally I will get a Legendary Sorcerer or first rate but mostly it's second rate and third rate all day long. I'm creaming these guys so what gives? Apart from bruising my ego (which stings enough) it also affects what I get. I just nailed an Elven Queen in like under a minute and got third f**king rate :-(. So question is:

What do I need to do to score highly in the fight?

You need to try to earn more points. You get a fair amount of points for stuff like not getting hit, hitting bosses with an element they're vulnerable to, scoring counter-attacks, sacrificing multiple minions, breaking an elemental hell with a counteracting element.

try not to get hit, use black, be quick hit monster with elemental weakness then go for a skillful attack.

Yeah I do all these things and I know they add score but to be honest, I go into a fight to kill the f**kers not tick off some check list of items I need to do during the fight.

Just fought one of the blacksmith guys and took along a fellow sorcerer specifically so that I could sacrifice him in the fight for points. Got quick quest, counter achieved, sacrifice etc and a bunch of other stuff but still third rate :-(. I know black rites and whatnot give me score but I don't use that stuff because I don't need to. This is my one complaint with the game so far.

I guess I need to refocus on hitting the check list/playing a points game rather than just killing the boss.

Anyone know the biggest scoring items to go for?

What do you mean "use black"? You mean black rites? I never use these. They're a last resort measure so I have only used it about three times. Don't they get progressively more expensive to use?

I should like this game considering I love MH, God Eater, Ragnarock, etc but I feel like when I was playing the demo I just never understood it. Gonna restart the demo and try again.

A skillful attack means putting an enemy into an elemental hell and then breaking that hell with a diametrically opposed element. For instance, if you put a boss into a flaming hell, you break that with ice. This does a fair amount of splash damage, so you can sometimes hurt nearby minions as well.

(Ice breaks fire, lightning breaks ice, earth breaks lightning, poison breaks earth, fire breaks poision).

Scoring points is not so much a checklist as it is about the game recognizing your actions for fighting efficiently.

Okay I found a scoring list.

http://soulsacrifice.wikia.com/wiki/Scoring

Was trying to avoid consulting a wiki but what the hell? To be honest I reckon I am killing these things pretty efficiently without all this stuff so I think the game should also recognise that. Will try and implement this elemental hell. I've done this to lower creature by freezing and them hitting them with lighting for a chain attack but not a boss so far. Anyway it's all good. Loving this game so it's cool. :)

Just get it. It's awesome. Worth it for the story and atmosphere alone but the gameplay is also top notch. My Game of the Year so far.

Don't worry too much about rankings. Just play through the game normally and consult the wiki if you're looking for specific offerings that require Legendary/Divine Sorcerer. Remember that most offerings can be fused together to form a higher tier.

Cerberus is really pissing me the fuck off. I know how to dodge all of his attacks but I still keep dying for some reason.

Ensure you are always using the shield on him (even though the time he stays on the ground gets way less once his life is getting low) he will eventually do an attack that can give you time to breathe/counter attack.

Also try to counter him since he will knocked out of the attack animation.

How many cursed parts does Wraith have? I thought it was two, but I got a message that I had destroyed one, and when I used mind's eye again I still saw two of them.

Does anyone could help me with 2 quests on Avalon( better if you have them unlocked), I need them to finish Avalon pacts, these are

X. Penitence
Wet Devil's Tickle and Snake Tartare

I tried but people are sacrificing the bosses even if I ask for save them to unlock the quests on my own room.

PSN ID Amvient.

Dang I feel like a jerk. I got this at launch and added a bunch of gaffers but I haven't been playing it much online. Kind of just been sticking with local co op stuff with my girl. I'm probably so far behind the lot of you guys it's not even funny haha. I'll have to try and keep a better eye on when you guys are running games :D
