Dead

well not really...yet
I don't think anyone from either the Amazing or Raimi runs is coming back.

Start thinking of a new JJJ while you're fancasting Parker.
JK Simmons said on Howard Stern a few days ago that there have been "new possiblities"(paraphrase) regarding him returning as JJJ when Howard asked him

Bring J.K. Simmons back. Not neccessarily bringing the Sam Raimi films into the MCU. Just bring him back. Kinda like Judi Dench in Casino Royale.

Yaaaaaazzzzzz!

But what about that Sinister Six movie and female Spidey character based film? All scrapped? Please say yes.

Yeah, those are dead for sure, though Pascal did want Drew Godard to still write and direct the next Spider-Man

Spider-Man in a MCU movie then a standalone Spider-Man in 2017. I guess that confirms Spider-Man in Civil War.

They don't have time to give him a major role in the film given that the previous negotiations fell through, do they? Couldn't be more than a cameo.

I actually didn't mind Garfield...I feel like of all the actors from both versions I'd have

Garfield - Peter Parker
Franco - Harry Osborne
Emma Stone - Gwen Stacey
JK Simmons - J Jameson
Dafoe - Norman Osborne

Theyll hopefully confirm infinity war once they figure out what they're doing and who they hire.

Even if they keep Garfield somehow, they can put time between the movies and "age" him up.

Hoping for the best!

Excited, but I'll miss Garfield, and hope they won't shoehorn him into Civil War or make him a member of the MCU Avengers.

According to those leaked e-mails yup. He's out and most likely this will be a fully reboot, but with the MCU people in charge.

Even though I like Garfield as Spider-Man a lot, this is very good news. The amazing spider-man films could have a much better script, which could lead to much better movies. I hope a good script is the case this time.

give me Grant Gustin, Dylan O Brian or Zac Efron as Spiderman

No doubt. There's people up ins already complaining that Fox won't do the same for X-Men, or that Sony got "the win" in this partnership.

The only "win" that matters is that Spidey will be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and there's going to be a new Spidey, with a new creative direction shaped by the people who have successfully made Marvel Studios a legitimate phenomenon in Hollywood.

That's the fuckin "win" here.

That and the fact it's probably either The Russo Bros, or Lord & Miller that's gonna be making this goddamn Spidey flick in 2017.

*heavy breathing ensues*

This is awesome

I think a lot of people are glossing over that unfortunately.

It's still all the same people that screwed it up in the first place, and Marvel still won't be able to do exactly what they want. This has warning written all over it.

That means nothing, Sony will have a bit more control over their own work but all they really want is the check. They're not gonna put up a fight and Marvel can write him out of their universe if they want.

I'll miss Garfield, but this is the greatest thing. Now we can have the wall crawler team up with the Avengers!

If they make Venom correctly, I will die.
