Splatoon 2 |OT| Fresh Squids 2 Go

First time playing Splatoon and I'm already hooked. Two questions though:

1) How do I collect the gear earned from salmon run? I earned enough for the shirt but it's not in my inventory yet.

2) How do I unlock all the amiibo gear? The first time I scanned them they gave me gear as expected but haven't given me anything since..

For a beginner (already level 9) to Splatoon, how concerned should I be about items and their perks. Should I just stick with something suitable to my play style? (E.g, quick respawn, swim speed)

I think that's the key thing to be fair.

I'm sticking with a low level weapon as it suits how I play and constantly finishing with 2000 points in turf war.

I thought at first I'd be better off using the weapons I unlock with each rank, but found that I was doing worse, often struggling to break 800 points even when I was on the winning team.

To the left of Grizzco there's a counter where you can redeem your bonuses.

If you've not actually been there because you use fast travel, it's at the end of the plaza, walk straight and bear left from where you spawn.

Props to anybody that can reliably use a charger. Getting stuck with that thing in SALMON RUN kills my effectiveness, I cannot imagine using it in pvp

I don't think I like this new rank system. It's doesn't give you an idea how much points you got or exactly how much you need to move up a rank. The same with gear, you have no idea how much point you need to level up, so if you're trying to micromanage how much 'grind/time' you want to allocate to each piece of gear, it's impossible to tell.

They also should add a targeting reticle to the sting ray. It's bad enough that it's so damn slow, but then it takes too many hits to splat anyone. If that wasn't enough, you can't tell where the hell its pointing cause of the winding angles impose on it. It's the most gimped special in all of Splatoon. Cool... but damn near useless.

Those are my current gripes right now

*See me on the Splattlefield as "JOS"*

Yeah I hate it when they give me that bullshit gun.

Would be next to useless in turf war in my opinion.

I could see it being good in Tower Control where you can take people off the tower at distance.

To be honest I wish you could pick what gun you wanted to use in Salmon Run, or at least be more weapons on rotation.

Outside the Salmon Run shop is a counter you can get your bonuses from.

I'm slowly getting better at Splatoon. But not at aiming. Somehow I was on a winning streak that saw my arrow/flag thingy up to 8, and I finished each time first or second on my team. But still with only 3 kills. I must ink enough to finish high:)

I tried turning motion controls off, but that almost seemed worse. I'm hoping this eventually clicks as it's still fun.

So can you only team up with friends in private matches? Otherwise you have to join someone and hope you're on the same team in regular battle? thats kinda silly

Sooo, I did not enjoy the Splatfest Demo at all. I felt like I was never able to get anywhere, and was just getting easily crushed by the enemy the moment I respawned. I had already ordered the game from Walmart.ca though, so there was no way for me to cancel the game. Since I only paid $50 for the game and would easily get that money back when reselling or trading it, I decided to give the game a try and.. I'm actually having fun. I've only played turf wars so far, and I'm [obviously] as a very low level - but it's still an enjoyable experience. Now that I find myself playing with people closer to my skill level and not a bunch of Ranked clans, I'm actually getting the chance to explore the mechanics and discover my own play style. It's nice!

Is the Splattershot Jr. a viable weapon to continue to use after you've reached level 4? I tried the Roller, but it didn't feel as fun as the Splattershot Jr.

In splat 1 all weapons are viable just different styles so I imagine its the same here. I for one loved the rollers

This is, yet again, the worst controlling multiplayer shooter available on current gen consoles. There is never a time where I’m not fighting the camera, thanks to it rotating whenever I move the left stick. It shouldn’t do this because you have the right stick for rotating. That’s how every other modern 3D game controls, including Breath of the Wild, for that matter.

Move the character with the left stick, rotate the camera with the right. It’s not that hard to implement.

Are you sure its not the motion controls that are moving the camera?

How to super jump in Splatoon 2
1. Press X
2. Keep pressing random direction buttons until the person you want is highlighted then press A

Seriously, I don't ever look at what corresponds to the person. It's quicker to just press the different directions until it gets to them

Weird. Had an error on reading my card. It's unbelievably hot in St. Louis today (112 heat index). Game card loaded now, I'll have to keep an eye on it.

I had one on it too! First time ever having it, and I own 10 carts now. I took it out and put it back in and it worked. But, that was weird.

It doesn't. You just have motion controls enabled, can't hold your hand steady and blame the game. You're probably one of those types who bends the controller in the direction they're turning is racing games without realizing it

You can also use gyro aiming to move a reticule over the person you want to jump to. I find that infinitely more intuitive than button shortcuts.

I turned down my motion control sensitivity down to zero. Can't say i like a jittery camera when i'm walking as well.

Gyro aiming is the absolute GOAT for console shooters however.

Alright, cool. Rollers definitely do a good job of covering a lot of area and taking someone down quickly in close combat, but I prefer a weapon that can shoot forward and give me a path to quickly swim through.

I know there are other weapons good for that, and probably some better than the Jr, but I also like the Ink Armour special.

Didn't have a WiiU, so this is my first time playing Splatoon. I couldn't even do that Splatfest thing, because I felt too ill to play the game. ):

But I can play now! Salmon Run has been really fun so far. Hard to put the game down, but my battery needed charging and I can't use the TV right now, lol.

Gonna add myself to the Friend Code list :D

But here's some info if you're lazy:

I really hate how you can't change your controller setting while you are in a game like wtf... I've never felt this restricted in a multiplayer game like ever!
